Day 7 was an off day for me.

is Pokemon GO niche will be good for CPA?
I dunno, are any free to play apps with microtransactions good for it?

My daughter loves that game! If you can find CPA programs in it, go for it.

TLD (from what I understand) domains would be an SEO question, isn't as important for the 30 day challenge, but might be good for long-term stuff.

Day 8

For the minimal amount of promotion I've done for my new niche service site, I've gotten some hits.

93 visitors.
153 page views.

For the first 6 days, that's not too bad.

Total invested so far: $10 (for a domain)

Day 9

I'm working on a Hotsheet to give away for list building.

Only a few hundred words done so far, but the night is still young.

Day 10

So far, I have my niche site up (offering a service).

Autoresponder is set up with 7 emails:

Email 1: Send their free download
Email 2: Send the freebie again, just in case they missed it the first time. Plus an "if you need help, don't hesitate to get in touch with me" note.
Email 3: Some helpful additional info, plus a link to one of my books, and a free consulatation offer.
Email 4: An unexpected bonus of some sort: usually a PDF
Email 5: Additional tidbit of info, reminder to contact me if they need help, plus links for my previous book mentioned and another book.
Email 6: Free consultation offer.
Email 7: Another bonus, plus links to books, plus free consultation offer.

All of the bonuses and free info help to solidify my position as the expert/authority. They are by me or someone else who is respected in the field.

For example, I am looking for book publishing clients, so I use 3rd party articles that tout the benefits of being a published author.

Having a business (online and offline) isn't complicated. It just takes some setup work and then repeating lots of the same stuff over and over (like getting traffic & conversions).

I post each time I have an update, but then put links to the posts in my OP. It makes it easier for people to see everything.

You can post a new post when you update.

@ShayRockHold wow, you are just killing it! What kind of advertising did you do to direct traffic to your page?

I worked on some autoresponder emails during my trip to Salt Lake City. Today, I also set up a new squeeze page specifically for a specialty group I'm in (using a book giveaway) although I haven't emailed the group yet.

Great, thanks.

I keep losing track of what day today is for me in this challenge! I'll have to update tomorrow because i need to get to bed. Today I added more emails to my autoresponder. I also sent out an email to a group I'm in that's part of my target audience (attorneys that are predominantly solos and small firms) for the second time, inviting them to join my list (using a book giveaway as a magnet). Also created a second giveaway to promote on FB/Twitter to hopefully get more signups.

Today, I believe, is my Day 12.

(As I'm writing this, I'm at the hospital tethered to an IV infusion unit for my infusion session every two months. No excuses!) I wanted to share a victory. I was really frightened about emailing my lawyer group about my project. I was afraid that no one would look at it, or that people would say it's silly or just a play by me to get money. Notwithstanding, I sent out that email, and had 5 people sign up to my email list! For many of you, you get 5 people a minute to sign up, but this is the first time I've done something like this, and that was such a big victory for me!

I didn't mean to fall off the map with this challenge. The job search has taken precedence over the past week or so. Sometimes you've just gotta put the business dreams aside for a little bit.

Keep kicking butt Shay and others, I'll be back soon!

DAY 14:

I actually didn't do much today. Yesterday was rough for me. In many of the podcasts and things I've read suggested: (1) overcoming the fear of actually offering a product is a first big hurdle; and (2) people will react negatively, no matter what. So after sending a 2nd email to this group that I'm a part of, while most people were supportive, one person actually started attacking me. I don't know who this person is, never met them in person, but they just came after me, borderline harassment (saying I'm no expert, my claim to fame is that I can't understand a bad business deal). It really got me upset and frustrated. I even had trouble sleeping thinking about it. So I decided to take today to chill off a bit, although I did have a few more people subscribe to my list.

Ok, Ok, Ok.... I'm also in. It just happened so that I'm starting a new project. Dropshipping e-commerce store.

So basically today was my first day. I bought Domain (13$) and shopify basic plan which cost 29$ so I guess I'm pretty much out of budget. Well however my goal is to make a couple of sales in 14 days. If that won't happen I will get a refund from shopify and I'll know I did something wrong.

Now what did I do today?

Like I mentioned bought domain and shopify basic plan. Picked a niche, picked somwhere about 25-30 products and listed them. Fully prepared my store and it's ready to be promoted. It doesn't sound like much but it took me about 8 or 9 hours so now I'm taking a break!

Day 17

As for me, more promotion and such for the site. I will also be advertising, but trying to do it for the $40 I have left allotted for this project is a challenge.

Day 2:

Even though I worked a bit less than yesterday I still did something So basically what I did was.... Created facebook page, logo and made FB cover, posted some content on my FB page and started promoting. I did invest 5$ into fb ads though to see what results I can get. Also I promoted my store in relevant FB groups. In 24 hours I had 103 visitors to my store however no sales. We'll see what will happen tommorow!

Day 3:

Got some more work done! Added some more products and improved my store overall. Did some promotion to increase my likes number on my facebook page.
However still no sales. Since I'm not the most patient guy it bothers me a bit. But there's one thing that eases the pain. I realized that I received 9 emails. I wasn't even collecting them it just that there was a form in that exact design where people can submit their email if they want to receive info about new products and promotions. So it's kind of cool. Guess I'll just try and send them some kind of coupon as a bait to buy something. Also I saw that couple of people added some stuff to their carts just didn't buy. Well that's it for today. Will do some promotion tomorrow hopefully will get that sweet first sale!

Day 5 and 6:

Same thing. Promoting, promoting, promoting. Although I worked less today. Really needed to clear my head to be able to think better

Day 22

More traffic, more promotion, as usual.

I've picked up 3 clients this week, plus another that I feel good about. The 3 clients were referrals, but the inquiry was from someone who saw my site.

I do need to find out if the referrals came from the promotion I have been doing. (Didn't cross my mind at the time.)

Day 23

Inquiry became a client, so I would say my challenge was a success.

So let's recap:

1. Had an idea for a narrower niche site (to augment my main biz)
2. Build the site.
3. Built the mailing list sequence and sign up.
4. Promoted site.
5. Promoted the site.
6. More promotion.

To be clear: I am promoting a service, plus in the email sequence there are other offers (my books, for example).

Nothing fancy, no rocket science.

Don't give up too quickly and jump to another Bright Shiny Object when things don't make money right away.

Anyone is free to share their pages (as long as they don't violate the TOS for the WF).

I can't share mine because the thread will be shut down for self-promotion. Sorry. (I don't know if I would share my niche site on the thread even if I could, to be honest.)

Would you show me any of your niche sites? Actually could be any site from anybody...
I'm already making sells in BR but I'm just driving qualified traffic to the VSL page
I just want to see the niche site in order to start creating my own sites...

Hi,
Interesting thread and am thinking of joining the 30 Day Challenge; just need to wrap my head around a tad bit more what I'd like to do, outside the IM Niche. Thinking of Cyber Security - have a niche social bookmarking site on the topic.

In answer to your question: If your site is Wordpress, install Wordfence - you can start with the free version which is pretty good; the pro version gives you country blocking which is what I use for all my sites. You purchase a license per site; annual fee and doesn't break the bank.

I use the pro version for all my sites and it's fabulous. Also install the free version: WP Spam Shield, this will also stop spammers in the their tracks and also support assisting with the security of your site.

Ensure you change your password to a strong password which includes: alpha/numeric / symbol. (Use a phrase that you'll easily remember and ensure you don't use any birth dates etc.

The hop over to your CPanel and ensure you change the password to your CPanel at the same time and ensure it also is a strong password of alpha/numeric/symbol (totally different to your website password. Whilst in the CPanel if you have email set up, ensure you change these passwords also.

Whilst in your administration section of your website ensure all plugins are current and update accordingly; also ensure you update all themes (even the one's you're not currently using). Ensure your Wordpress Platform is the latest version, if not, update accordingly. Then on a weekly basis check to ensure no further updates are required.

Install Updraft Plus - free version is fine and back up your newly cleaned website to your dropbox account. You can purchase the add on if you want this to happen automatically, however free version is quite okay. Ensure your dropbox account has the space to take the backups. I use the Pro version (minimum spend) which gives 1TB of space which is more than ample.

That's the website angle undertaken. Now for your computer, to ensure you haven't inadvertently downloaded malware to your computer:

Install (free version is good) CCleaner (when it requires updating, simply click no thanks and you'll be taken to the free update download.
Install (anti virus if you haven't got one - sorry best to have a paid version. Best on the market is Bitdefender otherwise Bullguard is a good second choice.
Install (free version is good however Pro version is even better) Malware Bytes.
Install Wise Care 365 (free version is okay, pro version is better).
Install free version Super Anti Spyware - you get the pro version for 30 days, then on just elect to have the free version.

Then run all these programmes (one at a time please, so you don't cross infect and induce false positive) to thoroughly clean out your computer.

Then run these programmes i.e. CCleaner (every time you close down your web browser in the evening and also each morning); Wise Care 365 at least daily; Super Anti Spyware at least daily if not twice daily; full Malware Bytes scan - quick scan daily and full scan at least weekly.

Anti Virus should be set to update every hour and run a full scan on a weekly basis.

In Conclusion:
Apologies if it sounds over the top however, most people forget their computers and think having Windows Defender (which is absolute crap and should be turned off as it also slows done your computer big time) is all they need and the rest will take care of itself.

Also computer maintenance is as equally important as website security maintenance. The last thing you need is to compromise your computer, which is giving you your livlihood which in turn may compromise your website and visa versa.

Hope this assists.

Day 27

This thread has gone quiet! Be sure to post updates as you have them.

I'm pleased with how my site has done, but I'm always tweaking things, of course.

Day 27, published Unique Articles, like I earlier said, I intend running Ads but got a big issue with paying with my card. This is where I am meant to get back the gains through the traffic but Guess I'll push that side of the challenge for next month, since it's 3 days left already

Hey all. I got caught up with some other things not related to my business, so I hadn't done much the last several days. I've tried to be good at least with posting to my FB and Twitter accounts, and I picked up a few more likes and email addresses. I started working on a webinar I want to start advertising next week. (I have a book giveaway as my lead magnet right now, and that deadline is Aug 1. I want my next landing page to be for this webinar, starting Aug 2). While that landing page is up, keep sending out emails to my list, as well as build out the course.

@ShayRockhold, you rock! Generating traffic and even got some clients out of it! I wish I can get some of that to my regular business (Law office) and have more people interested in my online business!

I know how you can get more business for the law office part. Shoot me a DM if you'd like.

Hey, all -

I'm going to close the challenge since we've gone past the 30 days. You can always start your own challenge and post in the thread, but I'm done with my challenge.

Ending stats for the month:

Visitors: 352
2 new clients directly due to the new niche site.

I'm pleased.
