Matt,

Try ArticlesBase.com. I don't know if they carry the same weight, both have a PR 6 but ArticlesBase publishes in less than 12 hours for me.

The link of great joy and happiness...but this one? This is the one that all window cleaning companies in the free world are inspired by. Hey, where did the sarcasm font go?

I just reworked one website and have basically started it from scratch, It has picked up 46 in adsense this year but was really bad and i was not at all happy with it so I deleted everything and using an amazon training program as a blue print set it up for a clickbank product. I expect it to be a while before I see any traffic for the "new site" as i am sure the search engines will pretty much de index it and take a while to "trust" it again, but I am confident if I work at it it will rise

I'm still spending hours and hours researching niches and key words but nothing really looks optimal or like something I could hit #1 in keywords with. Everything that looks like a good idea ends up having another IMer who has already taken advantage of it. I don't want to spend time on building a website and it ends up making no money. The ironic part is that in the time I've wasted I probably could have built 2-3 websites by now.
First, lol at your domain misfortune. I almost did that exact same thing but luckily I caught my mistake before I put in any real work or registered the domain.

You are at the stage I was at a couple of days ago. My advice is to keep learning and figure out better ways to find niche products. I was getting frustrated with Clickbank because that site is just filled with crappy digital products that have been mined to hell. It's tough finding anything there that hasn't had some IM'r register everything worthwhile.

My advice is to find physical products to sell. I'm also a total newb and just starting out in IM, but over the last week I think I've learned enough that I feel confident in my strategy and ability to pull it off. The analysis paralysis really only sets in if you don't have clear goals of what you want to learn. Start reading every post you can on this forum that will help you understand the area you are unsure about. I've probably spent 8+ hours a day the last week doing nothing but reading posts from some of the top guys on this forum. Good luck. I'll post my results etc... w/my first site in this thread too Goal is simply to make more than I invest in the site.

Will it work if the url is NOT the keyword? Can try or just junk it and go for a keyword-url?

It definitely can be frustrating finding what works for you in IM. Anything you go with there are going to be roadblocks. It is a matter of breaking through those roadblocks that separate the beginners from the seasoned IM'ers.

I have found the same thing as you with digital products from clickbank. I have also found there is a barrier with physical products as well. The bigger companies don't like to open up their affiliate program to people just starting out.

Well, at this point I'm actually well underway with a website, but yeah, I think most of the points you make are solid. I was generally put off by a lot of the Clickbank products; a lot of them seem like total fluff and a waste of money to the buyer. Do I really want to sell a $50 acne help ebook to a desperate kid? But there are a few good ones. At any rate, good luck with your first site! Don't get caught up in endless reading every day; I did the exact same thing at first.

As for me... I'm addicted to checking my Google SERP ranking. Still on Page 6 for my main keyword and haven't gotten any search traffic yet (only click through traffic from articles) and no sales, but I'm optimistic. Did some decent backlinking last night and tightened up my on-site SEO so I should go up again. Still waiting for ezinearticles to accept my articles, and I'm kind of at a standstill as far as articles go because ezine won't accept them unless they're the first site to get them.

I feel like I've learned a ton in the past week, even though I generally really have no idea what I'm doing.

"Keep moving forward."

Hey eveyone,

I just read through this thread and I would like to be part of this.

My info: I wrote a 10 page free report, built a squeeze page with custom graphics, wrote 15 autoresponder messages that include articles, videos, survey, and product recommendations.

I have been working on this since the beginning of September. November is the month I start my marketing plan. I will be writing 5 articles a day and submitting each to 5 article directories. Making a comment to 5 blog articles on 5 different blogs in my niche. Making 5 comments to 5 differrent forum threads. Also will be doing some Facebook/Twitter marketing.

I think this is a good start. I hope to make atleast 4 affiliate sales this month.

^^^yeah, I'm done with the initial madness that overtook me when I had 1,000 questions and no answers. On Friday my brother and I will put together our plan for the sites and how to divide the work. The first one should be live in around 10 days.

I also agree with your sentiments about clickbank. I would feel pretty slimy selling like 70% of the stuff that's hot there (gambling 'systems' etc). Even the ebooks....I dunno, when you can buy a paperback with similar info for $10-15 on amazon, I feel like a $30-40 electronic version is a ripoff. But obviously there are enough suckers out there desperate enough to pay for anything that these will sell. I just wasn't sure if I wanted to be a part of that. Who knows, I might still try selling a digital product in the future if it seems worthwhile.

Luckily I won't have to jump that hurdle just yet because I lucked out in knowing/being a part of a rapidly growing niche community. I can partner directly with the retailer/creator of the products who I personally know. He started the business like 3 years ago and has been raking in piles of cash. He also just started an affiliate program within the last few months and no real IM'r has taken advantage of it yet, so there are multiple products within the niche that all can be targeted easily. Plus, the products are expensive and people buy based on quality. I'm really really excited to get these sites live because I think it will be an enormous goldmine and only grow in the future.

Hey everybody,

I am subscribed to this thread and have been reading the responses every morning, and I just wanted to say - you can do this! Don't give up, and have some patience with your rankings for your sites. It is hard not to stare them down impatiently every day! Keep at it, and it will work! I have been playing around with this stuff for a few months, and I was able to quit my job at the end of September and work online exclusively.

Also, make sure you get to work! It is easy to get caught up in information overload here on the WF and lose sight of what you need to get done.

One more thing - if you can, join the War Room here on the WF. There is an unbelievable amount of good, free information there.

Wow! I'll admit it. I'm really dumb.

My goal for November is to be able to read and understand this thread.....and a lot of the others on the forum too.

I wish there was some sort of glossary for all these terms and acronyms. I feel like I just dove into alphabet soup.

I'm a total newb but a long time writer/blogger. I'm here because I'd like to learn how to make some money from what I'm already doing anyway. I also do contract SEO writing. But I never needed to know the why's and wherefore's...they give me the keywords and tell me what to write about.

@Rizzy on the Cj denial - I have about $30 in my CJ account from sales and still sometimes get auto denied. In 1 case I wrote the affiliate manager for the company directly and they were nice and sent me an invite right away to join the program that auto denied me. I think writing a professional message tot he Affiliate Manager is the right way to go.

Thanks for the encouraging post... I think things like this mean a lot to people. I've actually been searching around a few people's profiles/posting histories here, looking for people that started out as newbies here and eventually got going on there own. It always feels encouraging to hear from people that actually have done this is a reasonable amount of time.

I really want to make this my full time job eventually. I seriously go to bed thinking about what I can do on my site, and get up in the morning itching to check my Google/affiliate stats. Being unemployed at the moment helps.

As for my daily update... I'm slowly climbing the google ranks. Allllmost on page 4. For some reason, though, google is showing a subpage of my website rather than the main landing page in the SERPs, which is annoying especially since 95% of my backlinking has been to the main page. Apparently this is due to a recent google change, not anything to do with my fault. I'm going to focus more heavily on backlinking now, to make the final push to page 1, hopefully!

(ezinearticles still hasn't accepted my articles, although I noticed now that the "progress bar" has moved past the preliminary evaluation. I really hope I hit platinum status after my first 10 articles, which I am optimistic about since I think I'm a decent writer and most of them were 500-600+ words)

Also, I have a tip for other newbies regarding something that you will probably screw up like I did. If you're using wordpress and give tags to posts, make sure you disallow search engines from crawling the /tag/ pages, or you end up getting them indexed with the rest of your pages and get duplicate content in the SERPs. Google around for "robots.txt" to find out how to do this. I found this out the hard way and didn't fix it until Google indexed some of my tag pages. Does anyone know how to get them out of the Google index now that I blocked them from being crawled? I really hope I didn't get a permanent penalty or something.

"Keep moving forward."

I don't know about the search engine thingy... maybe someone else has some tips?

But i do have to ask why you want the main page to rank? usually it's easier to have the page with the content to rank for the keywords you use. I have a site that's like four years old and the pages are what rank.

A subpage is just as good as the main page. stick a link on that page that points to the main page then if you want people to see the main page.

Always remember to look at you site as though you were the person searching. Landing on the page ask yourself, "is this what I asked for when clicking on the link?"

As far as I understand, Google looks for relevant content when someone enters the words into the search box. So, I was taught that ranking a page is better than your site URL. it all depends on the keywords and how they are laid out through the content.

yahoo and bing are different.

That's awsome that you have a page ranked on the fourth page... it will only go up from there!

Ask all the questions you want, but in the end they will all be answered by just doing it!... Get to work!

I became a war room member today! I've been busy with errands and haven't had time to get in there, but that's where I'm headed next. I got that and one other item I've been waiting to be able to squeeze into my budget.

I've been slowly unsubscribing from a lot of the info I receive in order to narrow my focus and make a decision about which business model to use. I'm down to just a few and I'm hoping I can keep them without getting distracted.

Do you guys follow or at least listen to several "gurus"? Or does it keep you from focusing on your own plan?

Now that I have decided what I want to do and focus on I stay up to date on a lot of threads here now even if they are new and don't exactly relate to what I am doing.

I think once you are focused on one thing and you read and hear new ideas you start thinking of ways that it can be applied to what your doing.

It really just comes down to focus and not getting distracted away from what your doing.

My automated income from my PPC campaign is continuing to outweigh the advertising cost so I'm in the black with that. Though, I've been having some issues with my HTML and meta description on Google. While it appears my site has been indexed I need to type in the exact site name to get a response, and when it does pull up - there is no description.

Hopefully I will be able to get to that extra $100.00 mark with my PPC campaign because that seems to be the only thing working for me right now.

I'm actually starting to get search engine traffic! It's been for longtails that I wasn't even specifically targeting, though. I'm thinking I may start another site to work on at the same time, because I'm getting sort of burnt out on writing articles on the same subject (one that doesn't even interest me at all). I'm starting to feel like I should have maybe tried a less competitive keyword, and it's possible I'm going about this completely wrong, but I'll keep at this anyway. I was kind of hoping to be making money by now, but that's okay.

Weirdly enough I'm starting to get a lot of comment spammers. I have comments set so that they need to be approved, but I'm just surprised at how many I'm getting all of a sudden. I'm guessing it's automated spam by the looks of it, but still, I'm getting 3-4 spam comments a day already.

edit: holy crap, almost page 1.

"Keep moving forward."

ok, i'm in late, but i love this thread. i'm sticking around to prepare for the december challange. count me in for the wed chat at 9pm.

i've spent about 6 months buying, trying, reading, researching, and mostly i'm now an expert....
at flopping around like a fish on a boat deck.

all is not lost. along the way i have acquired some good domain names and some good tools that i should use more than i do. i have a fair idea of how the overall IM picture looks and i have settled on Affiliate Marketing as the way to start. later my own products when i have something good enough, but first things first. for now i must use what i have.

my three main domains are listed below for anyone to look at.
i also have some blogspot blogs to build my first link wheel and more domains waiting in the wings.

for all those who have emphasized that MASSIVE ACTION is THE answer, hear, hear, truer words were never spoken/written.
(loved the link to Frank Kern - great stuff - of course i marked and tweeted it.)

my time is limited and my budget is zero so i have a basic plan to follow for the rest of this month. i have picked three very good clickbank products (and some other possibles) in 'make money online' to promote, and i will be building up the content on all my sites to support them.

article marketing will be the main thrust of my campaign, plus i will be using Dan Tan's 'Backlink Syndication System' and 'Search Engine Blaster' to get the word out.

the problem is getting the zillion-plus-one details done. (autoresponder messages is a particular problem for me - i write good articles but can't write a simple email, go figure.)
i already have Magic Article Rewriter to help with spinning - i have tried others but i find it the easiest to use - so it's just a matter of doing the work.
one note about spinning articles. article writing is all about NOT writing well. i'll explain. writing is one-way communication, with many considerations, but 'write tight' is a mantra taught to all writers. cut the words that don't advance the story/plot/information/data. less is more.
not so in IM. a well written article is done when it's done, and spinning it doesn't work because changing ANY of the words changes the meaning.

to spin an article one must first write with glowing/damning/explaining abundant phrases, 'bloating' it with with extrareneous stuff to be cut later. this sounds weird, but it works. the first rewrite cuts it to the bone, to the short version which works best as a stand-alone article. this goes on one page devoted to whatever the keyword is. then the long flowery version gets spun down to fair imitations of the short piece on your own site. always use the best version on your site.

i think when Mark Twain said "If you can find an adjective hunt it down and kill it" he was probably thinking of copy-writing writers.

more later about this but i shouldn't hog space. this post is already too long.
thanks to everyone of you here. for someone like me, those stories about mistakes and disappointments carry a lot of weight. somehow i'm not alone anymore. may we all benefit each other.

remember, two wrongs don't make a right, but three lefts do.
happy trails and safe travels, ed.

Short update - can't do too much until next payday (Friday) at which point I intend to register Market Samurai and buy some new domains.

Going to set up some MFA autoblogs in keeping with my 10 MFA sites in one month goal.

Other happenings - my best page keeps going in and out of the serps - basically from paqe 2 to gone every other day. When the page shows up I get roughly 8-15 visitors a day. On the bright side, this site resulted in a 50 dollar order so thats like 5 bucks to the good this week. As this site has resulted in about $40 in commissions since July, I can ascertain that were I to raise the serps, I might be able to turn this blog alone into a few hundred dollars a year which is a good frame of mind to be in.

Great to see most people are staying focused and seeing some results.
I have been focusing on backlinks to my new website the last few days, it must be done but can get so boring lol.
This afternoon when mr nearly 2 is napping I will do some keyword research and hopefully get another review article put up.
It is getting confusing trying to keep track of all my backlink codes so I will also try to get a spreadsheet set up where everything is ordered etc.

I am targeting two keywords for each of my sites. It really helps to not overload your site with all backlinks for just one term. Mix it up.

I can say that for my one site I am now ranked number 4 for my main keyword and number 5 for my secondary term.

Congratulations. Going to start working on more SEO for my two white hat sites. Still holding strong on page #1 for one site. Though, I'm getting little to no sales with amazon. The second site is still on page #3. I need to push some more backlinks for both of them.

The PPC campaign is still making money. I mean it's nothing earth shattering it is actually generating a positive income and that's great. I am experimenting on how to scale that up. I guess we'll see what comes of it.

My third site that I'm creating I'm having some issues with and am considering hiring someone to help me get all the kinks out. I guess we'll see where that goes.

I'm still also considering just selling off both of my white hat sites as well.

I am currently also building up some social media contacts on both Facebook and Twitter. When I get to a certain point with them I will start attempting to push a variety of CPA type offers.

Great! Glad I could help.

might want to find some people on here who do what you do and instead of asking for help, ask for mentor-ship. people who have "made it" are more than willing to share especially if you show determination and work ethic. and you seem to fall into those categories.

No... when it comes to IM there are basically only so many tried and true methods, so many ways to build backlinks, so many ways to write converting copy and so on. I don't feel like there is much a guru can teach me - if they are truly guru's, the knowledge they share is only valuable once I am already very successful - take you to the next level type stuff.

The knowledge I often seek is directly related to the site building aspect of things - what types of blogs and sites convert the best, how to make a successful review or news site and so forth as, in my opinion this part of IM is much less clear than link wheel method #749 or Niche Research guide #424 - you get my point.

I did the Blogger thing with free PLR! I did have to edit the article quite a bit but not too much and even less on the 2nd article which is loaded to post tomorrow. I'm happy even though I'm not expecting to any money yet.

How is everyone doing so far? I'm starting to second guess myself, I think... Not getting very much traffic so far. Only about 3 uniques per day to my website, which kinda sucks. I guess I can't really expect much being on page 2, but I'm still building backlinks so I'm really hoping to be page 1 the next time it updates. If I don't get at least one sale by the end of the month it's going to be kind of disappointing.

Keep doing the work. You are on the way to page 1. the traffic will begin to come, it does take time. When it does, watch how it converts. If it doesn't convert, start planning and doing some split testing. Find out what people are really looking for and at least tease them with it. Make them want to read more or buy.

You are on the right track. Keep it up and hang in there.

Hi All, just an update.

I'm new to IM and bought some ****y products in my learning process but recently bought 2 related products so that I could look at the 2 together, get different ideas and see what works.

So I set up my website at the start of this challenge and have started promoting it through social bookmarking and blog commenting.

I can proudly say that today I have checked my stats and received a total of 6 visitors, hurray - it's a start and I keep blog commenting and article writing.

Worryingly my back links aren't being counted yet though???

Keep on going, sweet.

I'm getting more and more traffic/affiliate clicks. My first sale is coming sooner or later... I can feel it.

edit: I finally hit page 1 today, rank #7. Here's to hoping I can push to #1. I'm actually finding the Google thing to be kind of fun, like a game. Like, "how many more articles submissions/backlinks do I need to get higher?" heh.

I am in the midst of building my first site. I wrote 7 articles for it already but it's going too slow so I'm outsourcing the article writing and link building. This is my Vworker's first day on the job. I'm having her write three articles and start linkbuilding for my site, which I have not done yet.

Good for you! It's a very hard thing to do. I couldn't decide on one thing and I'm working on 3, which may come back to bite me.
