Way to go everybody! There seems to be a lot of enthusiasm here.

Before you beginning building so many websites be sure that you have the basic principals of website SEO so your websites will rank well. Another thing is don't put all of your websites on one server. Consider getting a new server after you've built about 50 sites. Google has a nasty habit of "deindexing" sites sometimes if they notice a pattern.

I build about 8-10 websites a month. Some of the rank really well and other ones won't rank well at all. Remember that this is a numbers game. Some will make money, some won't make a dollar and others will make enough money to make it worthwhile.

This is an excellent idea to begin working with, especially with the holiday season around the corner.

Procrastination still killing me, not helping with getting my new android phone. Just got a new book "The Now Habit".

My new goal is to read this book before I go any further. Once I have read the book I will continue to build sites.

I'm an article writer.

If you want results I recommend Jason Fladlien!

I have 3 domains bought and still researching 2 more. Right now I am going to have a mix of sites to test different revenue streams. One will be an affiliate of a physical product, one will be an affiliate of a digital product and one will be an adsense site.

Now I need to start working on the three sites I have purchased so far before moving on to the last two.

Just wanted to share a negative experience... I jumped and then looked...

Basically, I bought a 3-word keyword domain name for a highly competitive niche. The good thing about it was, I managed to buy the exact match for the word and there were like 160K sites and so on... I forgot one thing... AFTER I bought the site, I checked, and no wonder... for THIS PARTICULAR keyword, there were ZERO searches! TOTALLY zero.

I got impatient after looking at longtail after longtail... so the first one that popped up available, I grabbed... now, I am stuck with a dud...

Oh well... back to the drawing board... this just happened last week.

I am totally new to this niche blog niche site thingy...

Yes, everyone should always check with keyword tools to see what the estimated traffic is for a keyword before buying it. That is how I get my list of keywords to use in domain searches.

How did you get a list of keywords to try for your search? You didn't use a tool to generate them and show you the estimated monthly searches?

Rizzy,
I like your approach, going after different revenue streams. Should be interesting.

I'm still working on writing content for my first site. Like some of the others I'm fighting the procrastination. I've put myself on a schedule in order to get the work done. I now work every other night on my sites. Where as before i would take a couple of days off and then work for a couple of days. That soon turned into forgetting how many days I had not worked on my sites.

Everybody got to start somewhere. And that is most import getting started and doing something. If you don't do something than you could better stop at all.

Making a first eBook is a good start, than maintain from there on and progress will take place.

Me myself just started working on my first blog, last month launched my first product. So making progress as we go.

This is gold, pure gold... not only do we get to hear about successes and failures (great learning potential in both) but we can learn lessons from all over the IM spectrum.

Unfortunately I am not in the position to join the November challenge, not in the classical sense anyway so my personal challenge for November will be to check this thread several times a day and learn everything that I can.

I will be reading and rereading this thread as well as the thread that inspired this challenge (see rizzy's first post for the link).

Thanks rizzy for motivating us and thanks to everybody that is sharing their successes and challenges!

“Until the 20th century, reality was everything humans could touch, smell, see and hear. Since the initial publication of the charged electromagnetic spectrum, humans learned that what they can touch, smell, see, and hear…is less than one millionth of reality”

Ahh, PROCRASTINATION, my long time nemesis! But he's getting weaker while I'm getting stronger. My strength now, may be driven by desperation; I need to start making some money.

My advice to fellow sufferers: Do something every day, even if it's a very small something.

Instead of flipping around between methods I've buckled down and I'm working on 1 single site.

I spent most of today messing with wordpress, trying to hack a theme and get the layout working the way I want it, etc. I basically just took a free theme and am editing it to look/function like a certain expensive paid theme, haha. It's frustrating how slow I am at it, but I guess it'll only get faster the more I do it, especially since I'm completely new to wordpress and have very little web design experience. I'm still probably only about 75% done with the layout, but I'll try to finish it up tomorrow.

On a positive note, once I get this theme hacked together it will serve as a nice basis for any other site of a similar type that I might put together. Basically, the next site will be ready to go within a few minutes.

Lynn,

That's excellent advice. Start off small but do it 6 days a week. After a while you'll be doing bigger tasks. Just like brushing your teeth. After a while you don't even think about it, you JUST DO IT.

I just quit my job at the end of September, and so my goal is to make a living exclusively online. October was an ok month, but I was mostly just getting ready to roll. I won't reveal how much I want to make in November, but I do have a number. So far I have made $1300, and it's November 3.

That's not a typo. $1300. I would say I am going to reach my goal!

I feel ya - my goal this month is to launch 10 MFA sites. I launched my first one but did my research with the broad match and not the exact match results... I get some traffic - 200 searches a month - but this is way worse than I initially thought. As I understand it, this basically happens to everyone at some point.

Now to get paid friday and register some domains!

Count me in. My first two sites went up Monday (Got a head start, sorry.)

The blogs will take about 4 months to really kick in. It will certainly most likely take more than 5, but at roughly $10/domain name, that could be reasonable goal for many people.

Three to go, and I am thinking about starting a WSO for setting up the basic blogs with certain plugins installed and ready. Hopefully, it will bring enough that I can afford to set up more of my own blogs.

Thanks for the challenge!
Buck

I think this is a great challenge. And I will be checking in for motivation and encouragement (not procrastinating - really , throughout the month ...

For November I'm going to try to better monetize a list I have growing from one site (1000+ that I don't know how to sell to) ... finish some articles for another site (can't afford to outsource yet) and get some SEO magic happening there ... and then get up another 2 or 3 sites based on keyword research.

My trouble is focus. I'm all over the place!

You apparently have a system to crank out articles? I struggle to finish one in a day. I'm working on getting down to an hour.

How many words do you aim for in an article Lynn?

I'm aiming for 400 - 500. After I gather information from all over, then organizing and rewriting the info takes me forever. My to-do list for tomorrow includes creating an article from scratch in an hour. I don't expect to be successful, but if I continue, I should be able to do that very soon.

Well, that was actually the first day I started writing articles and I only got about 6 done because something came up and I had to leave. I started working on a real website after that, so I haven't done a lot of article writing yet. I've really only written about 10 articles in total so far. It doesn't take me a super long time to write a decent article (maybe 30 minutes, which could be a lot faster) but I have a hard time writing more than one in a row, which is something I need to work on.

(edit: I should note that by the sound of it, you are probably more detailed in your articles than I am.)

I finally got my first site just about ready to go save for a few minor tweaks, and I'm really happy with how it turned out. I heavily edited an existing Wordpress theme to make it look the way I wanted, and made a nice banner for the top. Although I really don't have any graphic design skills I think it looks pretty good. It has basically no content save for a main splash page, but tomorrow it's ready to start filling up with content. It's been a pretty good crash course on learning Wordpress. Guess I had to learn it sometime.

I have a ton of ideas for websites, but I guess I should just focus on one until I see if it does/doesn't make me any money. Tomorrow I'm going crazy on this website.

A little update: Site #1 is still ranked second. However, it is now ranked 11th for the 135k keyword. Site #2 is up to third place for its main keyword. Site #3 is nowhere to be seen. So its going forward. Found some other great keywords as well and started to write vontent for three new sites. Posted a own thread for that. Best Regards

Good to see you are moving forward.

By the end of this weekend I should have 2 of my sites up and running. Can't wait to see what they can do.

Hope everyone has a productive IM weekend.

Update:

My PPC campaign that I've been running has made 20.00 as of today. I've been doing some backlinking and article writing for the pair of SEO sites I was thinking about selling. One of them has now sky rocketed to page 1 of google for one of the keywords I was targetting. The other is now on page 3. I'm still working on my CPA campaign and hopefully I'll be seeing results from that within the next week or so.

Need to finish a term paper before I can get back to article writing. Maybe I'll use article writing as a break from writing term paper, but I doubt that will work...

Good luck everyone

A little update on my part:

My daytime job is killing me. The days are 12-16 hours long at the moment. Not much time over for IM. Well, here is my plans for the rest of the month.

Site #1: Is working its way up. Will forget about this one now as it builds backlinks by itself. Still looking to reach #1 spot for main keyword during November.

Site #2: Is now ramked second for its main keyword. I reached my goal for November so I will leave it for now. Just a bit of backlinking.

Site #3: My goal is to rech top 100 before November ends. I am building backlinks for this one at the moment. Will add some content during the next week.

Site #4, #5 and #6: Will pretty much be identical. I wrote some content for them and will install WordPress tonight. Goal is to reach first page with all of them during November.

And todays big boost in motivation: I found a keyword (or phrase) with 1 000 000 searches every month. Only 113 000 hits on exact match and the competition does not seem super hard. So....

Site #7: Reach top 30 during November.

Best Regards

For two days now, I haven't been able to access my WordPress Cpanel. I must be the only one with the issue, no other posts here in this regard.

Good luck! I can't wait to make my first sale. I think once that happens I'll really know that this is a viable business. Not really too sure about the goal I set ($100 profit in November) but I think if I make a single sale that would be good enough too.
