I'm new here and to IM, but my challenges for December are:
- write a post a day for my main blog
- build at least one backlink a day to my blog through blog comments
- write at least 4 articles
- to get out on my bike at least once every couple of days (weather permitting).

I dont think I am going to achieve my december goal of 250€

I have been promoting CPA offers but the traffic isnt converting at all (not one)
I have just set up a campaign to promote a CB product dont know if that will do any better

I am however doing up a plan for january with different goals (mostly related to bum marketing) so I will do that in the new year

About to launch my first WSO in a few days.

Working on a IM course that should compete with the big boys, although I don't see myself being able to finish that at least till Mid-Jan. But for now I'll release something that should help everyone out a little

Just bought a war room membership, definitely an excellent purchase for anyone wanting to take their IM career one step farther.

It's easily a great start to a super-productive IM career.

I would like to mention another update ...

I got my business cards back from the printer. Sweet! They look darn good, if I do say so myself.

I put my website address, twitter and Facebook on there, with email and phone number. Twitter, no problem. Working on the Facebook Page now (I need 25 fans before I can get the personalized name), and I have yet to get this supremely annoying WordPress 'where did the -insert into post- button go?' issue fixed or resolved. Until that's fixed I can't add any more graphic elements. Deadline is Christmas. Can I do it??

December came at a really bad time for me ...

I'm trying my hand at article marketing and my goal for December is becoming a platinum member at EzineArticles.

I have submitted 6 articles so far and all have been reviewed and accepted so four more to go!

My mind is blank, however, and can not think of a subject to write an article about....

Good luck in meeting your goal, it looks very doable for December.

Are you promoting a particular product or website? Just wondering why you might be stumped for something to write about.

No, I'm not promoting any website or product.

The advice I got to get to platinum is to produce 10 good informational articles without trying to promote anything, the reason being that your article might get rejected if they feel it's too self promotional.

Once you've made platinum it's easier and faster for additional articles to be accepted. This is when I plan on article marketing.

There is really no need to worry about that. Look through the articles there; 99% are clearly self-promotional. That is essentially the entire basis of Ezinearticles. You submit articles to their site to promote your websites and they get content in return. I got promoted to platinum by submitting product reviews with a link to my affiliate website (which promoted the product) in the resource box. It doesn't get much more self promotional than that.

Your plan to hit platinum before attempting article marketing makes sense, though. Honestly, you know what would be easy? Find some articles by existing platinum authors and rewrite them in your own words. They will get accepted for sure and it takes a very short amount of time. You could plow through the remaining 4 articles in an hour probably.

"Keep moving forward."

As Matt said, you don't need to worry about articles being accepted to a place like Ezine Articles if your article is informative and simply has a link in the resource box to a website related to what you're talking about in the body copy. I've had many articles accepted there myself too.

If you only have 4 more to write before your platinum status, are you deciding on a website or product to promote once you're there?

Thanks for the advice, guys!

I have several websites up and ready and I also have product review articles ready to submit in draft mode.

I figured that while I'm having writer's block on generic articles, I might as well get everything else set up and ready to go.

Gotta love writers block, I keep getting that on and off but I just push through it and get the work done no matter what

I had my best Amazon day yet yesterday... I made $15. :p

Sounds pretty pathetic, but it was super exciting to me. I know my sales will probably drop come January, but I loved seeing that this morning. Stuff like that is very encouraging. I really hope to make this a full time job.

I'm not likely to get much done the rest of the month due to the holidays, but oh well.

I hope everyone else is doing well!

Looks like you doing good!

For the wordpress issue:

tab round to the html editor and add it directly there

(also maybe you hid it, click on "the kitchen sink" perhaps. Or just make a new draft and click on things like crazy until you find it! Haha, a bit unorthodox but as I can't see exactly what odd changes you might have made so this could be the easiest way for you to find it yourself :p)

Update on my goals.

I have the new header in place, thanks to the constructive criticism I got here
I improved (I hope) my site navigation

I have improved my bounce rate from around 100% to between 50 - 60%.

I have increased my visitors by about 10%

Continuing forward, I need to increase visitors and learn how to improve conversions.

Anybody willing to give me more constructive criticism, I am all ears.

Way to go, Retta! Nice increases and nice site. I had no idea there were so many different wine glasses!

For my own update ...

I am still having the wordpress 'glitch' issue with my site, I'm not able to get ahead with this yet and it has been taking much of my time and energy, so I won't be meeting some of my planned goals for December. I had hoped this site would be done by Christmas. Not likely.

Lynn and I did an exchange. I made her a website header for her PLR site, she can use if she wants to, and she wrote an article for me.

If you have purchased her PLR you already know she is a great writer, but otherwise I wanted to let you know it is quality. No spelling and grammar issues, intelligent sentences and structure, valuable information and overall, a really good quality article. I'm sure I will be buying more from her in the future. (Though I still like the idea of an exchange). Thanks, Lynn.

i want to thank all you great people here. reading this thread has given me the motivation to open up in the forums. i'm such a loner it's criminal, so self-promotion is hard as nails. (i'm in the wrong business, huh?)
i still am not getting much done, but the inspiration you provide keeps me plugging away.

one problem though. many posts mention the 'thanks' button in the lower right corner, but i can't find one. i would like to give some individuals extra thanks, but i'm lost on how to do it. can someone help?

The "Thanks" button doesn't appear until you have either 5 or 10 posts I believe. Just so ya know and can't find it. I'm pretty sure that's to avoid spamming "thanks" (someone making XXXX amount of accounts and creating a script to run the thank you command on one of their posts)

On another note, just launched my first WSO, awaiting approval. Hopefully some of you will be grabbing a copy. (Only costs a few $)

thanks Will and Lynn, now it makes sense, it's a good safeguard, just not known to noobs. (nothing wrong with noobs - everyone was one once - i'm just tired of being stuck there.)

Lynn, i owe you some consideration for getting me involved. sometimes a small gesture can make a big impact.

This thread has really slowed down lately, and I'm guessing it's probably because of Christmas, so I hope everyone's having a good holiday.

I can't wait for January. 2011 is going to be a big year- I can feel it.

"Keep moving forward."

I am a fairly good writer, but I can not seem to get motivated to write for article marketing. I would much rather be working on other things. So how much do you charge for articles etc? I am going to check out your site to see what you have listed there too.

Good luck with your WSO! I did a quick look for it, but can't find it. Maybe it isn't approved yet?

But I have made a promise to myself to NOT buy another WSO, no matter how good of a deal it is, until I'm bringing in more money with what I already have. It is just too easy to keep spending and spending ... I still want to get into the War Room in the New Year too.

I'm trying to get my mind back into business mode after enjoying a break for the holiday. But I did set my goals for next year. If I can overcome procrastination at least most of the time, I should have a very successful 2011.

Yep, I'm in the same boat. I'm going to try to get a bit of work done tomorrow and the rest of the week, because I have some responsibilities next week and won't get much done. The entirety of January might be a bit hectic for me, but I hope it doesn't get in the way of working. I guess it it's hard to get it across to people that even though I'm technically unemployed, it doesn't mean I'm free to do whatever I want. :p I'm trying to take this very seriously, which I think is probably the only way to do it, but it's hard to tell someone you can't babysit their kid all day because you're working on the computer, heh.

I told a few people about my IM ventures over Christmas, and I was surprised by the reaction. Almost everyone was very interested and encouraging about it, and some even had a few good ideas. Now I'm kind of worried someone will want me to help them get into it. :p I don't think I could possibly explain it, especially since I don't have a good grasp of it myself yet. I find it hard to explain the basics of what I've been doing, even; it's hard to explain SEO to a 50 year old uncle who barely knows how to check his email. :p

"Keep moving forward."

Thanks Lynn, I saw your WSO the other day, hope you had success with it.

Since it's the last day of the year, let's all strive to get our to-do lists finished, and make sure we go into the new year with a successful attitude from the start.

Good luck in 2011 everyone, Happy New Years!

I'm so glad to have finally DONE something. I have this thread and Nov to thank for the inspiration.

I did something, it wasn't perfect, nothing bad happened, nobody called me an idiot. Isn't that part of our fear, that everyone on the internet will call us imbeciles? I got only positive results and it is so encouraging.

Happy New Year!!!

Congrats, Will, on the WSO! It looks great. Big step for the first time.

I know what you mean, Lynn, how nice it is when no one calls us idiots! You and Will, with your WSO's, got me thinking about maybe doing one too in the New Year ...

I didn't hit all my targets for December, but December helped me reshape my focus for January. I'm looking forward to the New Year and sharing more with this great community here in the Warrior forum.

Happy New Year everyone!

3. Finish the product that is in process for that niche.
4. Finish the link wheel for that site/product/niche.

I still work at my former profession only 3 days a week now so I am going to succeed!

Good luck to everyone
I suck!! I'm reporting back that I only finished one thing on this list and it's in rough draft....the product for this niche!

So....lessons learned:

1. Just pick one goal not 4!
2. Consider the time frame...the holidays and family and friend obligations ate up a bunch of time.
3. I'm a lazy bum and wasted time! Or rather used it on other activities.
4. I need to change my mindset to "Someone is holding a gun to your head and you must get this finished by deadline or you're dead".

Reporting back that I fell so short of my goals is embarrassing but I am confessing so I will be more motivated to not have to publicly embarrass myself at the end of January.

So here's to a more successful January and New Year!

That's the one that's done the most for me. I still don't work as much as I should but that will get better too.

We're all going to have an awesome 2011.

@DrMeg, I think we all learn these lessons as we do this, putting ourselves out there, and before we have our own processes 'perfected'. I know I did. I sure didn't meet all of my goals either (and I tried to be reasonably conservative when I made them! Ha!)

So don't beat yourself up too bad! You'll find success in 2011.
