ENDED !!! *** "Pay It Forward" Challenge *** FREE Custom Minisite Design To Most Thanked Post...
Share on:
fb share twitter share gplus share more share

I CHALLENGE anyone and everyone who has made money online honestly, to post in this thread something "they wish they had been taught" when they first started Internet Marketing.

Your post has to be something that is either useful, helpful or applicable.

It can be a motto, an inspiring story, tid bits of info, or whatever.

What your endeavoring to do, is to make the person who reads what you post "better off" for reading your post than they were beforehand.

They should be able to take what you post "to heart" and apply it in their life, attitude or IM business, in someway that will benefit them.

The goal is to GIVE freely with NO STRINGS ATTACHED mentally or physically and pay some very useful bit of knowledge you have learned the hard way forward to someone else. So someone else may avoid a certain pitfall, a certain mistake or so that they can have one less hurdle to jump.

Since there are soooo many talented and knowledgable IM's on this forum, I expect this to be a thread that starts flaming soon..........

Just to clarify, this is not a contest, but just to add somekind of incentive: the persons post who gets thanked the most by December 31st @ MIDNIGHT CST, will recieve a Custom Minisite designed by me for FREE.......

Remember, you're not posting just TO GET something for FREE. Your motivation for posting should be "because you truly want to give freely" to others.

I'll start this thread off with a few of my favorite attitude adjustments........

"DONT QUIT"

When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,
When the road you're trudging seems all uphill,
When the funds are low and the debts are high,
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest, if you must, but don't you quit.

Life is queer with its twists and turns,
As every one of us sometimes learns,
And many a failure turns about,
When he might have won had he stuck it out;
Don't give up though the pace seems slow--
You may succeed with another blow.

Often the goal is nearer than,
It seems to a faint and faltering man,
Often the struggler has given up,
When he might have captured the victor's cup,
And he learned too late when the night slipped down,
How close he was to the golden crown.

Success is failure turned inside out--
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt,
And you never can tell how close you are,
It may be near when it seems so far,
So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit--
It's when things seem worst that you must not quit.

"It Couldn't Be Done"
Edgar Guest

Somebody said that it couldn't be done,
But he with a chuckle replied
That "maybe it couldn't," but he would be one
Who wouldn't say so till he'd tried.
So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin
On his face. If he worried he hid it.
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn't be done, and he did it.

Somebody scoffed: "Oh, you'll never do that;
At least no one ever has done it";
But he took off his coat and he took off his hat,
And the first thing we knew he'd begun it.
With a lift of his chin and a bit of a grin,
Without any doubting or quiddit,
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn't be done, and he did it.

There are thousands to tell you it cannot be done,
There are thousands to prophesy failure;
There are thousands to point out to you, one by one,
The dangers that wait to assail you.
But just buckle in with a bit of a grin,
Just take off your coat and go to it;
Just start to sing as you tackle the thing
That "cannot be done," and you'll do it.

"Good Enough"
by Edgar Guest

My son, beware of “good enough,”
It isn’t made of sterling stuff;
It’s something any man can do,
It marks the many from the few,
It has no merit to the eye,
It’s something any man can buy,
Its name is but a sham and bluff,
For it is never “good enough.”

With “good enough” the shirkers stop
In every factory and shop;
With “good enough” the failures rest
And lose to men who give their best;
With “good enough” the car breaks down
And men fall short of high renown.
My son, remember and be wise,
In “good enough” disaster lies.

With “good enough” have ships been wrecked,
The forward march of armies checked,
Great buildings burned and fortunes lost;
Nor can the world compute the cost
In life and money it has paid
Because at “good enough” men stayed.
Who stops at “good enough” shall find
Success has left him far behind.

There is no “good enough” that’s short
Of what you can do and you ought.
The flaw which may escape the eye
And temporarily get by,
Shall weaken underneath the strain
And wreck the ship or car or train,
For this is true of men and stuff—
Only the best is “good enough.”

i'm fairly new to the "good" IM , been struggling for like 3 years,
But still i want to tell starters this : do not give up ....
the reason you do IM is because you want to do it , you are not forced to do it
many people i can call friends, have set me back on track and motivated me to go on !
Now i feel like doing something back , but since i'm pretty much starting over again on the right track , i don't have much more to give then motivating you guys to keep doing what you do !

ow and a huge thank you for everyone who ever helped or advised me in the last 3 years

Throughout the years I’ve read many self-help, motivational, and goal setting books. I’ve learned how to set good goals, some I’ve achieved, but many fell by the wayside. I’ve always wondered why some I achieved and others I did not.

Recently I’ve read a book by Bill Bartmann “Billionaire: Secrets to Success” here he made a great point and it answered my question why many of my goals failed.

He covers 9 major points, many covered in other books, but the one point he makes is the best, treat your goal not as goal, but as promises. This made everything click for me. I realized that all the goals I’ve achieved in my life were promises I made to myself or to others.

I started applying this to my new goals and have seen good results already.

So if you are like me and have a hard time with goals, try treating them as promises to yourself or someone you care about.

Dear New Warriors,

When I started, I would have LOVED to know a few things.

First - the power of focus. Find a single area in Internet Marketing (like eccommerce, affiliate marketing, niche site, CPA etc...) and FOCUS ON IT.

Second - This is why I think I succeeded; I did not know a single guru name or spend thousands or even hundreds on training until years after I was making money. Unsubscribe from all the training lists.

Third - Take Action, this is said, but spending time here on Warrior Forum is not working on your business if you are spending more then 30 mins a day. Go and implement the material.

Forth - Follow a blue print or plan and tweak it to your own path.

Last, like Nike says it "Just FRICKIN Do It"

Cheers,
Mukul

From Jim Straw:

1) Find one (just one) product or service to sell.

2) Find one (just one) method or technique that sells that product
or service profitably for you.

3) Just keep doing it ... over & over & over & over & over ... adding to your product
line as you go.

Please do something ... anything ... even if it's wrong.

Mistakes can be corrected - but - doing nothing can only be corrected by doing something.

Find your own way and don't worry too much about what everyone else is doing. You will come out much better following your own path instead of running from person to person following their path that more often than not will just lead you down a blind alley and not take you anywhere.

I'm not saying don't learn from others, far from it. You should look around and learn as much as you can but in the end you must forge your own path and make your own way. The rewards are far greater, the trip is far more fun, and you have way more confidence in yourself if you find your own way and make it work.

The Road Not Taken
by Robert Frost

TWO roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

Alright, hear me out, newbies! I've got a tale for ya'...

Once you enter the wonderful world of internet marketing, you will be pulled in all directions by flashing banner ads, impressive slogans and greedy internet marketing gurus promising the latest, easiest, auto-pilot-money-making-in-your-sleep method. Be on the watch!

There is TONS of FREE information both on Warrior Forum and all over the internet that will help you achieve your internet marketing goals.

To achieve these goals there is only ONE CONDITION...ready for it?

WORK HARD & SMART!

When saying "take action", "work hard" or similar slogans many people tend to forget to add the crucial part "and smart"!

Let me give you an example, a coal miner or a farmer works hard every day to feed his family. Does that guarantee he will be rich? NO!

Certain studies have shown that in order to become an expert of the highest degree in a specific field (sports, art, music, writing, science, etc...) one has to invest approximately 10,000 hours of constant effort to become better and improve your craft. This means that instead of just making 10 blogs each day for 10 hours, you invest those 10 hours in improving the blogs, the SEO, the content, experimenting with conversions and so on.

Remember, this isn't a rule to live by but it is a good example, that if you want to achieve TOP HEIGHTS, you have to put in tremendous work. It might not even take you 10,000 hours, but I think you need to invest at least 4000 to become "good". I know that in a way I've done my 10,000 hours already. For more than 10 years I have been learning English from all sources available and now I am a professional writer...although English was never my first language to begin with. Whenever I get the results, I get them by investing time and my creative thought.

But do remember that no matter how smart and intelligent, and talented you are, you have to put in the hours. It might seem hard at first to spend 4 to 8 hours each day at a computer, and believe me - it is. But in the end, you will only be thankful to yourself. It gets easier and easier once you pass the learning curve. Most internet marketers fail right there. They give up once they realize that internet marketing might be tougher than holding a regular job.

Start today!

Put in your 10000 hours and you will not be disappointed. But don't forget to analyze, learn and improve. A good rule to live by is 25% reading, 75% doing. No knowledge will help you if you don't apply it.

To sum it up: intelligence is not a substitute for hard work and hard work is not a substitute for intelligence.

Time of thinking is over.

Start building your list from DAY ONE!
..even if you add only ONE subscriber a day.

When I started out I was shocked by how much other marketers are ahead of me that I tried to make profits too quickly with "new and flashy" techniques, strategies and so on.

After a while I realized that chasing early profits it's actually harder than building a long-term business.

Today, my (long-term) business model is the very simple:

1. Provide maximum possible value to people without wanting anything in return - no money, optins, anything!
2. Give people a chance to join your list if they like you.
3. Treat every person on my list as a human being, not just as a "subscriber" or "prospect" and continue to provide value

As opposed to drive a lot of untargeted "traffic" to my "squeeze page" and then bribing them to opt-in, I give my "bribe" up-front to a small and targeted group of people and leave the option of opting in up to them.

My optin pages usually have from 60-70% unique opt-in rates, 90% of people double optin, and 40-50% of the people on my list open my emails.

My advice to other warriors:

Spend 30 mins of your day, each day, and individually help 2-3 people with your free advice.

These people will love you for it and you will start building a very strong relationship with them.

Ask them to join your list and continue to provide value.

After a year you will have 500 to a thousand of people on your list with whom you'll have a strong relationship.

This is not a big size list, but with that kind of relationship, they will open your emails more, consume your content and ultimately buy your products more.

And best of all - you don't have to worry about copywriting or any other sales tactic!

Just treat them as if they are your best friends, give a lot of value and when you're promoting something you can just say "Guys, remember my email about how to promote stuff on Facebook? Well I just bought this guide and it's amazing. I highly recommend it to you guys, check it out here - LINK"

You'll get at least 5% conversion. Guaranteed.

To sum up - strat building your list slowly by providing value without asking anything in return, treat people as you would like to be treated, build relationships and after a certain period of time you'll be running the best business in the world.

Take care everybody,

~Davor

MY CV ❱❱❱ 12+ yrs exp, 7-fig revenues, 40 employees.. 39 actually, someone just left the company, f**k!
I like to innovate stuff and babble IM stuff into a camera:
I do this on the side, will try to sell you something, be sure of it!

My advice to new marketers? It is two sides of the same coin:

1. Be willing to reach out, join in, ask questions, get help.
You are not an individual behind a single computer, you are a member of a community. As in any community, there are some "not-so-nice" people. But there are some really warm and generous souls out there too. Connect with someone you can relate to, and do so often.

2. Give of yourself. If you are new today, tomorrow someone will be newer than you. Don't think that just because you don't know everything, you don't know anything. The very fact that you are close to the beginner level could mean that you understand the questions that beginner is asking better than anyone. Take the time to give them a hand up. We'll all be better for it.

I learned the hard way to not try and do it all myself. Just because I 'CAN' do my own writing or seo doesn't mean should. Fact is there are hundreds of writers and seo experts who are not only way better than me at it, they do it hours faster and save me massive amounts of time.

I learned that my time is worth something. I make more money outsourcing stuff that gets finished and online in a day or 2 than I do saving that money and taking a week or 2 to do it all myself.

These days I outsource nearly everything but honestly I gotta say to someone starting out, take all the help you can get it'll save you from burnout AND save you time. Time is your most valuable commodity. Don't waste it!

My advice is to listen to others that are where you want to be.

If the person giving advice is where you want to be, then it is likely to be valid advice. Otherwise, it may simply be unsolicited advice. No offense to them, but they don't know what they don't know.

You need to:
1. Realize your worth it
2. Decide to go for for it
3. Don't let anyone stop you or convince you otherwise
4. Always be aware of the shady gimmicks and overnight success b/s

I will compare it to when i learned to play guitar.

I was self taught, but as soon as i started to play with others that were years ahead of me, my skill level increased expontentially. They were where I wanted to be.

I'm new to the forum, but there are many intelligent people here, and its enabling people to learn a lot of new tricks everyday. Make sure to keep the good advice flowing!

Make a start.

If you wait until you know "enough", or the time is "right", you'll still be in the same place ten years from now. There is no "know enough". There is no "right time".

Sure, there is a basic amount of knowledge you need - how to work domain nameservers, webhosting, etc, but it's not huge. Would you believe I was earning money online for about 12 months before I worked out how to use ftp? I was clueless and looking back, I can't believe how much I struggled with it.

I have found that so much of my learning has come from doing. Have I wasted time? Sure. Have I spent a bit of money on useless domain names and the like? Yep. Have I failed? You bet. However, I can say for sure that I've learned more, and become more successful by having a go, than just by reading and waiting until I know enough.

There's no time like the present to start your journey.

1. Out-of-the-box thinking has always worked for me and I'm pretty sure it can work for you too.

2. Listen to others twice as much as you can talk or express your opinion because you cannot be always right especially when you are trying to prove yourself right but you can never go wrong by listening to others.

Have The Right Mindset

I spent so much time looking for 'the next best thing' as I'm sure many others have too. I would buy a program, follow it for a couple of days and then look for something else.

Over the years I made little bits of money here and there but nothing major.

* I wish I had the right mindset from the beginning to be more confident and believe in myself.

* I wish I had the right mindset to know that if I stayed focused and worked hard on one thing that I could be successful.

My advice:

1. Have the right mindset - thing positive and you will attract positivity and success into your life.

2. Stay focused on one project and stop looking for the 'get rich quick' system - it doesn't exist.

3. Write down your goal and then write a plan of steps to take to reach that goal.

4. Stop procrastinating (get out of the Warrior forum and get back to work)

5. Be prepared to put the time and effort into your business to make it successful.

6. Be Happy with what you have!

I just finished a writing job and the articles I wrote were on abundance and the Law of Attraction. Although I don't believe the universe will give you anything you ask for, I do believe the concept of your thoughts control your outcome in life.

* If you think negatively then you will never have the energy to get off your butt and change your life.

* If you think positively you will have the energy you need to work toward your goals.

Have The Right Mindset

Take care
Sheryl

Alright guys,
Its time for me to give you my advice on how to stay focussed and how to make money roll in:

1)Become a War room member.
There is really a HUGE amount of free resources out there.
Use them after downloading them.
I got great success with these materials(BEWARE:You need to use them though)

2)Use the WSO section and the warrriors for hire section in the warrior forum
This is really a HUGE area to capitalise on.
Outside the warrior forum, many ppl think that wso's are rehashed crap!
But it is really not true
WSO's are released by successful internet marketers(most of the time) and they deliver QUALITY stuff!
(*TIP FOR NEWBIES*)
You can also use the warriors for hire and the wso section for reselling services to other offline clients or any other client who is not in the warrior forum!
You can just contact the warrior who is providing the service, work out a good deal and then CASH IN with your clients.
This can help a great deal to make FAST money. You need not do anything and just have to moderate both the sides.

3)Do NOT hang out too much time in the warrior forum..Learn to prioritize!
You need to give higher priority to those things which are going to make you more money.
Imagine you are spending about 2 hours per day in the warrior forum(I was initially)
You can write 4 articles in that time that can help your business in a HUGE way!

4)Learn a new skill once in a month!
This will really help you to reduce your expenditure on other stuff and make your life more exciting!
It can be anything - setting up of a wordpress blog, learning to do video editing, learning graphics...just about anything!

5)Do not take life SOOO seriously!
Please guys,do not misunderstand me..
I never told you people not to take your business seriously...
I told you NOT to take life seriously
This is simply because LIFE is not equal to business..
Have fun with your girlfriend/boyfriend,go to movies, hang out with friends, talk to your parents and grandparents etc. etc.
Do not be always stuck in the computer.
I was initially GLUED to my laptop 24*7 when I started out
(I even remember taking my laptop to the toilet in order to stop wasting time....LOL)
So please do not do insane things like that and be sincere and timely in your work. That is more than enough!

I want to really help out all you newbies and I can offer you
1)A discount to my HOT SELLING WSO located on my signature
(Note:Only for my dear newbies)
2)A free one on one chat in gtalk(for one hour) to analyze exactly where you stand..what you need to do in order to make more money!

I really owe a lot to Allen.
The forum is WONDERFUL and it has made me really rich in the past week!:p

Alright guys,I really think I am going to complete my huge essay!

I don't need a minisite designed but I will share a few things that have helped me in my journey

#1
don't bounce from one business opportunity to the next.
pick one model. research the heck out of it. apply what you learn. tweak the process until it is working then rinse and repeat.

#2 don't get overwhelmed
it is easy to come online and try to do too much too quickly. step by step make a plan. for the day not the month. make a plan for the day like today I am going to
comment on blogs.
write an article and submit it.
help someone with a problem.
etc..
Daily prioritize your time. make a plan and stick to it.

#3 consider the steps you need to take to reach where you desire to be.
if you want to make some money on the side consider how long you need to spend per day to make it happen. after you have gotten step 1 down this is much easier to accomplish.

#4 put others ahead of yourself. the best surest way to succeed is to help others. Whether it be with a simple question about traffic, how to decide what to do.etc. make an effort to help someone else and you will find yourself experiencing a little more success then you were.

#5 always keep your focus. Never ever get sidetracked with the shiny objects or the latest and greatest product keep your focus work your plan and things will happen.
don't try to make a million bucks overnight consider this business online the same as building a house. first you lay the foundation then you frame the structure then you add the walls windows doors etc. step by step it is important to focus if you start trying to put the doors on before the foundation is layed it is just going to flop.

These are condensed but the gist is there have a plan help others and don't lose sight of what you are doing. it might take a lot of time but in the end if you persist it will happen and where you want to be is where you will be.

Cheers
-Will

Organize: Your online business consists of 3 core foundations...
List building, product creation and marketing to your list. Develop a plan to work on these 3 foundations on a consistent level.

Marketer: You are primarily a marketer. Not webmaster. Focus only on money-making activities. Always aim to get the biggest bang for your time.

Market: Try and establish yourself in a popular market which comprises of sub-niches. In other words, ind an audience and create related products for them. That way, you can cross promote easily.

Leverage and Method: Do it once and get paid as many times as you can from your product. Systemize your product creation to maximize your profits. For example, if you are to get 10 articles... think ahead and have them created in a way that you can compile them to create a small report, rather than ad-hoc.

Correct Focus: Focus on how best to help your customers and the money will take care of itself. You compensation will grow in direct proportion to the value you provide. Focus on the money and you'll struggle.

Ignorance: Only buy products that you need now. Only learn what you need to learn now. Ignore the rest.

Enjoy.

Internet Marketing: 20% Internet - 80% Marketing!

Volume of traffic isn't everything. A keyword with even 10/15 searches a day WILL make you money if:
a) you have the number one spot and you have most of the traffic and
b) there are people wanting to advertise in that very specific niche (think local here)

When I started my online business, I couldn't understand why I rarely had any visitors to my site although the contents were up to scratch.
But then I discovered the social media; specifically Facebook and Twitter. And that was when I had my real breakthrough in every respect. First I used my regular Facebook account with about fifty friends, to post almost on a daily basis interesting tidbits; puns, anecdotes, quotations, clips, pictures and so on. When I started to receive several friend requests every day and friends sharing my posts on their wall, I decided to create a Fan Page for my website.
Later I joined Twitter and that also helped to drive traffic to my website. Oddly enough, Twitter is a more effective tool in driving traffic to my ebay account. So whenever I list an item for sale on ebay I post a link on Twitter.

I think you missed the point of this thread?

This is not a thread to post what you wish you had been taught or want to know.

Its a thread to help others with something you wish you had been taught BUT NOW KNOW.

That way, others can benefit from your learned lessons.....

If you could so kindly rework the above post of yours to be of some benefit to others it would then fit in with the rest of the posts in this thread.

Learn to listen but not until after you learn to THINK... and then you can figure out WHO and WHAT to believe because you don't have to listen to everything you hear once you learn to THINK for yourself. If nobody hears a tree fall, does that mean it didn't fall? Write down everything you don't hear and go investigate for yourself and ask WHY - www.askwhy5times.com will be my next blog!! Learn to listen to what is NOT being said because that is more important than what you hear.

WHY? Because what you hear is what you are supposed to hear. People tell you what they WANT you to know. Who cares? That's boring. Here's an old trick that cures boredom: Whenever someone is too nice and too anxious to buy you a few drinks, turn the tables on him. Dump your drinks out and keep re-filling your glass with water - just go up to the bar for more ice. Here's the answer.... Then start acting tipsy and make sure your friend is keeping up with you. Now listen to what's being said . . . could be more truth than lies and now you won't be bored.

Sometimes listening to yourself and your 6th sense makes you realize how right you are most of the time and then it becomes difficult to listen to anyone. You know everything but in reality the smartest people in the World say: "never underestimate how wrong you can be."

bareket57 may be a tad bid "wrong" but at least he/she isn't too afraid to get out there and do something.

I retired in 2005 at 43 and now I give away websites like these for FREE [hosting excluded]

Those are true words of wisdom. From my experience the secret ingredient for success in business and especially internet marketing business, is to hear what hasn't been said. Your post is so poetic – I really loved it. You are a truly gifted writer and I'll be happy to read your blog once it's published.

The point of threads like this are 2 fold
one it is to get you out of your own negative thinking by putting someone else's needs ahead of your own. you do that by sharing what you struggled with and how you overcame it. If you have not overcome it no big deal the experience helps to prevent others from walking in behind you and doing the same thing.

The second is it is to encourage community spirit. To be ones who are actually willing to help someone else as well as receive help from another.
By sharing struggles and victories it serves as a group collective of encouragement and gives that added spurring on that so many of us need from time to time.

The problem I see with good threads like these is the odd person who feels the need to hijack the thread with their own whining or complaining.
You just never know who is watching who is asking and who is in need your help and advice could help the next filsaime get past the block he/she is facing and catapult them into the next level of their business. so please if you cannot contribute things of use shut up ad move on.

These are very strong words. I don't think anybody here intended to hijack a thread or anything of the kind. I haven't been on Warrior Forum for long but I have seen quite a number of threads and I can say that members in this forum are civilized in every respect.

Very cool thread btw, and I'm not in the market for a minisite so if I win, you can offer it to someone else.

2nd btw, your graphics are pretty awesome.

I still think you have missed the point of me even posting back to you. This whole thead was started for specific reason. So that people can post something the will encourage and benefit someone else.

Your post(s) add nothing at all to this thread. I understand that you may have a problem that needs resolved but please do not post here with just your problems. Do that somewhere else.

If you want to post in this thread, post something that will help, bless or encourage someone else. And please do not be offended. If you took the time to read the OP and purpose of this thread and you were honest with yourself you would easily see that your post(s) do not fit the criteria of this thread.

I would greatly appreciate it if you would edit both of your posts and add something that you believe will encourage someone.

All the best,
Steve

I believe that WD Mino is not being disrespectful at all. I believe that the person who posted and added nothing to this thread that would bless or encourage another is the one who is being disrespectful, intentional or not.

WD Mino, may have said something a little frank, but the other poster is obviously not getting the point, especially after I personally made it clear to them, which I have done again.

There are all kinds of people on this forum I agree and not all of them are respectful of others threads. The person and post in question is a very good example of someone who did not read the original post or does not care to stay in line with the intent and purpose of this thread.

Thank you.

Our society has been programmed that you have to give to get. The mentality is you scratch my back and I will scratch yours. Its just the nature of mankind.

In order to give with no strings attached requires a deliberate, conscious decision to be loving and give expecting nothing in return. Just giving for the pure pleasure of giving.

When this type of giving is done, the giver is always more blessed than the reciever.

The great thing about pure giving is that no one can steal that joy of giving away from you if your motivation is pure. Because your own personal joy of giving is not dependant on how your giving is recieved by another.

Pure giving also guarantees that the person who gave with a pure heart will get something in return. It may not come from the person they gave to, but it will come full circle in its own timing.

Giving = recieving, its woven into the fabric of life. All of life is set-up on the principle of giving and recieving.

Most people do not take the time to ask themselves WHY am I doing this? Am I doing this for personal gain or because I want to look good in the sight of others?

Give for the joy of giving and expect nothing in return, thats pure motivation.

RED means EXACTLY RIGHT and sadly most people miss out because the momentum takes time to build up so they quit. Believers never quit.

All of this dates back to the widow who gave everything she had (which was very little) and the other people gave their surplus (worth a lot money) like a dutiful token that was expected. ---We all know who gave the most.

If you believe this to be true but nothing seems to be working - something is wrong - holding you back....there' only one thing that will keep you down - two but mainly it's your association and that starts from birth. The second is what you believe and that comes from what you think and leads back to association.

Parents themselves have bad habits but that's who they are. Kids learn what they live and believe what they learn every day they have to listen and do as they're told. They grow up with friends that influence their lives more than anything else.

Nobody robs a bank alone, they mug people in sets of two and a third in the getaway car. You go jail and you have new friends to hang out with. But when the bell rings, the rules change. Ex-cons cannot be friends anymore for good reason.

They need different association but they've been labeled and the good know how dangerous one bad seed can be. They shy away, hide in fear or indifference. I never thought about what happens after prison until about 6 years ago mainly because I didn't know anyone who had even been to jail, let alone prison which I thought was like Alcatraz and criminals were like the ones on Law & Order and that's all I knew.

When you've been raised with other people who would rather give more because they enjoy giving more than receiving that's what you learn and that's how you live. It's greedy but in a good way when you see adults who are so used to giving, it takes some of their joy away when they get something in return. The well-wisher wonders what's wrong his gift and goes away puzzled.

What happens when everyone is giver and there's nobody left to receive - the kids are older and they want to give too. You have to be sneaky and do things behind their backs or when they're not looking. You pay attention to what the other talks about and you can tell what they would like ie.. Aunt Sally always talking about that hole in couch. So you get together and fix it when she's out of the way. Everyone's happy giving and happy receiving anonymously or from everyone.

People are the reason for our being here and they will play you like a fine instrument if they don't believe the same way you do. Association is the reason you think and believe the way you do. That's why great leaders are so important to what happens to entire countries down to a family of two.

Change your friends, TV Shows, Radio Station, GURU, spouse and you change your life. There's a momentum that has to pick up again after you get the bad element out of your life. Way easier said than done but at least if you are aware of what's going on, you will make better choices whether they like it or not. It's complicated just like people . . . . this shows how much in common McDonalds has with Gang leaders.

They need different association but they've been labeled and the good know how dangerous one bad seed can be. They shy away, hide in fear or indifference. Before I comment back, I want to clarify to you, that I am not sure what you are really trying to say?

If you can put what you said in a nutshell, I believe that it might be easier to grasp what you are trying to communicate?

I'm always confusing everyone - sorry about that. In a nutshell. This will be a challenge but here goes. What you think, believe and how you live starts with your association so how do you avoid being turned into a slow roasted pork chop?

There are a lot of people that just don't grasp the concept of giving or karma and they never will if they keep the same association and lifestyle habits. Have you ever had to extricate yourself from anyone who has other friends tagging along? These are teenagers and into their 20's without any direction not me!!

The whole point was for those who have so many things going wrong but can't understand why? What have they done to deserve it? The ripple effect has a big reach and being in the wrong circle effects everyone.

See above: RED means EXACTLY RIGHT and sadly most people miss out because the momentum takes time to build up so they quit. Believers never quit.

The nutshell: How do you help those who just don't understand?

Your style is unique. I admit that I have to read your words carefully … but I like the challenge. In short don't change your style – it would be a shame.
I agree with your point. There is a polemic about what shapes a person's mentality – nature or nurture. 19th century philosophers and anthropologists believed that it was nature. However, recent research has proven that its mainly nurture. A person maybe genetically conditioned to reveal certain tendencies, but it's in essence the way he's raised and more important the social environment he's in, which determines who he will be in the end.

There is always a way to help someone understand if they really want to understand. But the problem is making someone want to understand. People tend to be stuck in their mold because they haven't got the courage to break out of it. The task of a coach/teacher is to find ways to make a person want to change.

The nutshell: How do you help those who just don't understand?
Just love them, and your example of loving giving may or may not rub off. If it does and they actually practice what they see, then and only then will they truly understand.

Understanding of spiritual principles can only be grasped experiencially. I am not saying that someone can not understand the concept, but to truly understand it they have to do it.

Its like explaining to someone how an orange taste. They can hear or see your explaination and even believe it and understand the words used to describe the taste of an orange.

But until they actually bite into an orange they will not experiencially know the taste of an orange. The same holds true for Giving and Recieving.

This is a bible reference (parable of the widow's mite.)

If you believe this to be true but nothing seems to be working - something is wrong - holding you back....there' only one thing that will keep you down - two but mainly it's your association and that starts from birth. The second is what you believe and that comes from what you think and leads back to association.

This is an argument for "nurture" in the eternal "nature vs. nurture" debate. It's never-ending, the details can be found on Google

You never know what it's actually like until you are actually there and in the middle of it.

Some people give because they want to feel superior to the person that they are giving to.

"True giving only happens when you do it anonymously."

People are the reason for our being here and they will play you like a fine instrument if they don't believe the same way you do. Association is the reason you think and believe the way you do. That's why great leaders are so important to what happens to entire countries down to a family of two.

That's what makes me wonder if people have to be forced to change who they are associated with. Ex-cons are forced live differently and go to classes and all that but it doesn't last long when nobody except fellow partners in crime act like "friends" so they go back to believing they can't do anything else as if they have no choice.

It takes 10 to pull 1 guy up but it only takes 1 guy to pull all 10 down.

What if 10 people told them they do have a choice? Why can't they write articles, make interesting videos, all unique instead of spinning garbage? Did you know they are already spinning 30 second video vomit now? Treat ex-cons like ex-wives and let them start over with a smile and a wave!!

I don't want to transgress here. But since you ask a philosophical question, I'm very much tempted to answer (I've always been a philosopher in my way of thinking). In Western culture people are raised to be rational and to be in control and forget that most things in life our beyond our control. Therefore we can only try to CONVINCE an ex-con to change but not more than that.

I think I'm lost now. I thought prison does the convincing, parole forces changing friends when they get out but then what? I'm not referring to the hardened career criminals or other unmentionables who have nothing to lose..

Fillmore Slim, 77 straightened up in prison. He got 5 years for buying fake passport while on probation, and got out a year early in 1984 and went to stay in a half-way house near the Mile Hight Blues Club and became friends with the owner and he's still out singing the Blues on Tour mostly in Europe.

Hey, I appreciate the bumping of my post, but can I ask that we stick to the point of this thread please, if you want to actually keep on discussing your topic back and forth, it should go on in another thread.

Please dont be offended but this thread is not meant to be a long discussion panel of a subject or subjects. 1 or two comments I can understand but lets not get carried away.

All the best,
Steve

That was right on time and well deserved. Thank-you for proving once again my sixth sense has had enough exercising and I should have listened to it. Listening to your 6th sense is almost always right.

But it's still scary to listen to that voice when there is no confirmation. So you practice for years until you learn how it works and then trust yourself more That's exactly why people need good leaders that inspire great things.

Most people are not good leaders 90% and most of them don't want to be followers either. Solution: Be a Helper. Or an instigator like me.

What CEO said he got to the top because he learned to always hire the smartest people and surround himself with people who were smarter than he was. That makes your job easier and they are too smart to want your job.
