Challenge to all Warriors - To Help The New
Share on:
fb share twitter share gplus share more share

Hey Warriors,

this challenge is something different. Every day we get many new Warriors joining the warrior forum, with new ideas, opinions and so so very much more. And it's great, except some of them make "big" mistakes, end up banned right away, or just get people upset. I'm sure we all can remember those incidents.

My challenge to warriors is to give one tip that would help someone joining the Warrior Forum, fit in, and be able to at least get some new ideas from the forum. Some examples would be to just "watch" for starters, and not make short "spammy posts", or use affiliate links in your posts.

I think this would help people getting into the forum, not break the rules, and become a well-known member for quality.

The best tips will win $10 cash via PayPal {Please note; This is a completely at the pick of ours, and under the understanding of American law, we grant the prize as an "Award", not as a lottery or any other form}

Here is my advice to new Warriors (and veterans as well):
1) Avoid using profane language – most Warriors don't find this cool, but offensive.
2) Use the spell-checker to weed out typos from your message – messages with typos are considered bad manners by many Warriors.
3) Avoid writing messages which contain the stereotype sales talk – this will earn you the reputation of a spammer.
4) If you feel the need to criticize another member, make sure that your criticism is as constructive as possible and worded in a diplomatic way – messages which look like personal attacks on a fellow warrior can get you banned.

Before you ask a question, learn how to search the forum, because it's more than likely that it has been asked before. On the top menu bar, there is a search button, type in a few words relating to your question and away you go. You'll have enough reading to keep you busy for an hour at least!

If you still can't find the answer you need, then ask away, but be sure to choose the right section of the forum for your question. For example, you're more likely to get the help you need with an offline problem, if you post your query in the offline section of the forum.

Re: Challenge to all Warriors - To Help The New

Well, I know what I did, and I think it would help other, newer members as well.
I try to thank many people who give me knowledge I hadn't known before reading the post.
As you can see, I have many more "thanks" than "thanked".
At first it sounds bad to me, but when I stop to think about it, I remember that I have only been practicing IM for just over a month, and obviously, people here have a lot more to offer me than I do to them. I like reminding that to people, by thanking them.
A simple thank you can go a long way. In time, I hope to have way more thank you's, however that is something that is built over time, and you must merit the possitive feedback.
So, definitely try to thank people, even if it isn't in a thread you started or posted in.
I'm not syaing go spam the forum with thank you's, just remember to thank someone when you browse the forums and realize the crazy abundance of great content there is in here.

Another tip I would give new members is get involved only in thing you have a clue about. A month ago, I was only asking questions.
Now I take pride in the fact that I am able to answer questions of others.
Not many, but it happens. I personally get turned off when I see a reply from a new member which is completely unrelated to the topic, or it is totally self promoting.

This is all part of forum etiquette, any forum I should think.

One last thing I would say, is mix things up a little. I personally am a big fan of humor; I try to use it a lot in my post. The green smiley is my best friend. I shall call him "mini me" - LOL - - >
Humor makes every discussion much more pleasant. It also will get more people involved in it.

Hope these help

Daniel

The best tip I can give is to read...
  • Read the rules, first and foremost
  • Read all the stickies of each section, before you post there
  • Read the descriptions of each section, before you post there
If everyone did those three things, it would eliminate a good chunk of the issues that beset any forum and get you started off on the right foot.

I think it isn't of what we can suggest newbies to do, but what more this forum can do for them.

Put a Newbie section in the forum, entitled "Newbie Section".

Then change the welcome pm they get from the Admin when they sign up to this forum. And include this in that Welcome PM.

Saying something like: We know you are new to this forum, and to avoid yourself being banned for not looking first, please try the "Newbie Section" first. As this will answer all your questions. If it doesn't, then please use the search panel above under the title "Search".

This would avoid a hell of alot of bannings and people saying sarcastic comments.

I am a newbie on this site. I would welcome a newbie section.
The one important aspect of an acceptable post in the newbie section would be that of a mentor. As I understand there are those that are highly trained on internet technology. If there were mentors out who would be willing to share ways to be successful on the internet then that would be a great resource for a newbie. As a newbie I am talking about someone who is new to the internet and knows how to read. Maybe there would be a modest cost to the newbie section that would incentivise those that are skilled to contribute to the newbie section.

Good Luck in creating a newbie section.

My thoughts are to remember that everyone was once new, and try not to be condescending, and arrogant towards new people to the forum.

Remember the golden rule.

We were all new once and most probably felt at one time or another, scared, nervous, and maybe even somewhat intimidated when it came to posting on the forum.

Heck, At times I still do, I have not been very active for the most part, but I am slowly getting back into the swing of things.

We all make mistakes at times, but life goes on. Don't scare some one away especially when they genuinely need an answer.

You never know when a new member could be your number one affiliate, simply because you decided to be nice and respectful.

Some Tips from my side:
1. Read the rules before posting or searching for anything in forum.
2. If you don't have any good thing to share then sit and watch instead of posting spamming/useless comments.
3. Don't spam the forum.
4. Never ever break any rule.
5. Don't post abusive/adult language.
6. Never try to start any religious or sort of discussion/thread.

Hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things, and no good thing ever dies.

Give value...provide genuine help without expecting anything in return. It will pay off for you big time later.

Remember that it's not where you start, it's how you finish. Your reputation precedes you and follows you so make it a good one

I only came online in the latter part of 2007 and I learn new things every day so don't be afraid to ask questions.

When you're tempted to download the "latest and greatest IM software/product", check for reviews here so you don't spend your hard-earned money on junk. I can't tell you how many times I did that before I wised up. LOL

Be consistent, stay focused, and you will reach your goals.

I have some tips:

: Always register with a good username , don't register with direct domain username or name that looks spammy.

: Spend some time after registration to watch the environment of WF , and start posting or sharing ideas only after understanding what types of peoples are here and how we communicate.

: Always follow the forum rules , never make short posts like thank you , nice.

: Always try to get into the discussion in thee thread and don't just only reply to the OP be creative read the whole thread learn something new and then reply.

: Don't include affiliate links in your signature and don't link to spam sites in your signature.

: Always try to be good in forum , talk to peoples nicely and be friend with everyone , never accuse anyone or make other feel bad. Be creative and learn something new.

: Try to participate in all forums don;t just stick to off-topic forum or a particular forum.

And most important always be creative and try to learn new things and also share what you learned with other members of WF family.

@caleb I hope i win.

As for the new warriors, they must learn on how to search and analyze. Search: Searching for the best tool, niche, WSO to buy that suits their needs and dont just "grab this WSO" thing. The best thing for search is that they will learn something out and if there's anything that they don't understand, they could just answer it on their own through search. Analyze: Analyzing on what a warrior should buy. Think before spend anything. If its worth it and you need it or just another add to your HD space for a price. Alot of new warrior makes mistake upon selecting without analyzing or realizing is they need the product or not OR if they're capable of doing the method that's in the WSO or not. WSO are great but there are just some new warriors that dont understand IM world yet. So search and analyze.

My tip for newbies is this: Learn to GIVE first.

While when you are new you will have more questions than answers you will build your reputation fastest by giving. There are many threads where the poster is just asking for an opinion and your opinion counts as much as anyone elses as long as you can back it up with a reason.

So when a thread appears with something like "which do you prefer long or short copy?", you can give your opinion if not as a writer/marketer as a reader/buyer which is just as valuable to those trying to work out what works and why.

So even with little or no experience you can give in your posts.

Be selective in what, when and how you post.

I think it should also be noted that a newbie on this forum may indeed be very experienced indeed from other sites or experiences

However I would say the best advice would be to read and absorb the information at hand and post when you can add to something

I think the best tips from this thread should be gathered together and posted in a sticky for new users. Many of them are "common sense" but that doesn't mean that people will follow them.

I found it helpful to read the forum rules and more than anything else to read other people's posts first before posting myself. Too many people want to be in 'broadcast' mode all the time and never in 'listen' mode.

Above all, try to be part of the community, not someone who dashes in to post and never bothers to engage with others.

(And I say all this as a relative newbie myself!)

Try to look for ways to help. An easy way to do this is to look at some of the questions that are asked. If you can answer them, do it, but do it in a way that doesn't look like you're trying to show off what you know.

Take a moment to do a little research to find a suitable answer for someone needing help.

Here's a biggie: "If you don't have nothing good to say, then don't say it at all."

There's enough negativity in the world without the need to add to it.

Hope that was useful.
