I have seven people listed as interested and just one of those people's email addresses. However, we are a little ways off before the contest will actually start. I'm working with a partner to build a website where we can host the contest.

Depending on how far off this is I think I'd like to join. I've had an idea for a blog I want to start for a little bit so this would be a good opportunity. I'm already to busy but oh well, lol. What's one more project right? I can't PM you yet but mark me down if you still have room. I'll keep an eye on this thread to. Do you have any sort of ETA for when this contest will start? |

Anymore slots left?? I'll do it...I've made about 2.97$ from adsense in a day...but then I never made a cent afterwards...would love the opportunity to try and make 1$ a day.

The reason why I chose $1 is because the contest won't be about money, it will be about gaining information, getting experience and pushing each other.

I would like to participate as well. I read Pat Flynn's blog alot. I wanted to pay 799.99 for his niche marketing course, I know all the information is free, however with holding a 9 -5 job and a family the time just goes. I guess in many ways I was paying 799.99 to have someone hold me accountable and get me started and moving forward. I think this idea and of having people hold you accountable (and if your serious - like I am) is a great idea. When do we start? cheers The Barker CEO |

What a fantastic idea. If there is anything I can help you with let me know. In fact I could offer you a report that I sell on one of my websites. You can use the information or use it to build a list. I will give all ten participants giveaway rights. The report comes with cover graphic and is called Start Up The Traffic Machine. I was wondering when this contest will start? I have obtained a war room membership, and I have a number of great reports that I have been reading. I have purchased niche finder. I am serious about working with others, in terms of sharing and in terms of being held accountable, this is Pat Fynn's theme in his 799.00 courses (as all the information on making niche sites is already out there for free - just to share and be accountable is the value of a group). My proposal, is that if anyone is interested please email me a private message and answer me these two questions: 1) Why are you interested in making money with IM? (no its not an obvious answer, although I agree money is a top one) 2) Are you available once a week to check up and motivate other members of the group as well as ask and answer questions (and try to seek out answers yourself)? I state this, and offer this, as I fear this thread will just either grow and no action will be taken or the 10 spots are already gone. Send me a private email, and we can move forward, I try to be on here at least every day. The Barker CEO |

I am guessing I have to have 20 messages for people to PM me or for me to send PM's? I did a quick check and did not find the answer. Or is it 50 like the above poster mentioned? Nevertheless, I have some IM videos I will be reviewing and will be posting my thoughts in the week, my message total will go up. The Barker CEO |

The OP seems to have disappeared. He hasn't been on the WF (based on his posts) for quite awhile. I'm wondering too what the status of the contest is.

This thread fascinates me in much the same way a traffic accident fascinates its passersby. I am the oldest newbie in the world; so, to see wide eyes rally around Brent's idea, I'm intrigued; and it brings to mind an idea I've had for too many years now: a sort of "shiny-object-chaser's" workshop. A website/community where chronic dabblers can finally call each other out on their misguided efforts and repair their dilapidated websites. I'd be interested in gathering up some of the enthusiasm here to host this contest on the website I registered ages ago. It's called "Positive180.com" and it's meant to be all about recognizing what doesn't work in making money online, stopping that, and turning it around in a positive, 180-degree direction. Now I realize not all who chimed in here are anywhere near the level of my (dare I say it,) failure? I am testament to what Timothy Horton (thesoniclounge) got on his soapbox about, and that is "bought into the overnight millionaire scheme;" but in my case, it was over and over and over and over again. I've come to realize and know a great amount more than I did in those previous chapters, and I'm gathering up my shiniest objects and preparing to implement this website just for "noob" marketers like myself who've wasted too much time because they've not focused on one thing, and/or because they've not had others to hold them accountable. If Brent comes out of hiding and wants to work something out, I'd like to contribute to this contest both as a contestant and a host. I'd want to integrate the activity in this forum with one on my site, and each contestant could be showcased (something like "The Biggest Loser" reality show format.) I do think the stakes need to be higher, however. I think the $1 a day idea is okay because it's not supposed to be about the money, but hey! The show would get more viewers if the stakes were higher. We may need clearer definition on how the money is to be made (affiliate marketing, product creation, social media marketing, offline business consultation services, advertising, or what-have-you,) and how the bar gets raised. Anyway, I'm interested. Mitch |

I was getting all excited while reading your post, until I got to the words: "I do think the stakes need to be higher, however. I think the $1 a day idea is okay because it's not supposed to be about the money, but hey! The show would get more viewers if the stakes were higher." And right there... my heart dropped. Here's my perception: Just another guy who wants to make money off of people. And my heart sunk. I thought you were actually going to offer your mistakes and what you learned as a service to other folks, not to profit from others. Can't say that I'm getting the impression that your heart's in the right place. You may want to move this offer to the Contests Thread. Hi-jacking to serve your own purposes might not position you to be viewed in the best light. Don't want to start anything here, just want to give some input towards your idea. Drop your "fee" down to a buck, and I'm up for it. Otherwise I'm not opening my wallet to fund someone else's project where the contributor's are providing the excitement and for the most part, the content. Kind of reminds me of the Pay to Play schemes. Just my humble opinion, and with all due respect. Sincerely. Cynthea

Cynthea - I'm very sorry you came to that conclusion. I don't understand how I would stand to make money off anyone, regardless of the contest's goal. By "make money off of people," are you referring to the contestants? Or to their target markets? I'm sorry, but I don't get it. I'm not charging them to enter the contest. And as far as your accusation that I'm hijacking a thread and that perhaps I should move it over to ...where? The Contests Thread? Isn't this the Contests Thread? Perhaps this is why I've not made much money in my marketing efforts. I'm just too dumb to understand what you're saying. Forgive my naivety if I fail to see how I'm either hijacking a thread to serve my own purposes and how I would even make money off people by helping to host a contest such as this. I mentioned that the stakes ought to be higher than just $1 a day because that hardly generates interest with anyone. Would you rather see "Watch and learn as ten contestants compete to bring in $1 a day for 30 days," or wouldn't it be more exciting to see "Watch and learn as ten contestants compete to bring in $50 a day for 30 days?" As an aspiring marketer, wanting to learn from case studies, don't you think more people would respond to the higher goal? I don't know. I'm very interested in the nobler cause of providing valuable learning to aspiring marketers, but I'm also concerned that the contestants aren't going to make enough money for themselves to compensate for all the energy expended. Setting their goals higher would ensure the contest pays off for them not only in having accountability and focus, but also financially. I really appreciate your input. I just don't understand how I'm made out to look like an evil, conniving thread-hijacker. I apologize for you seeing it that way, and if my reasoning is faulty, and I'm not seeing something that may be obvious to those brighter than me, then I certainly apologize for stating myself that way. In all due respect, Mitch |

Re: "I do think the stakes need to be higher, however. I think the $1 a day idea is okay because it's not supposed to be about the money, but hey! The show would get more viewers if the stakes were higher." I honestly thought you were saying that you would charge more for peeps to join the contest. It's how I read it. When you said "i do think the stakes need to be higher..." I did read that as saying that you wanted to generate more cash from the contest. I apologize for jumping to that conclusion. It really is how I interpreted it, but I understand now that I was wrong. All the best to you Mitch! Sincerest apologies, Cynthea

Thank you, Cynthea, for clearing that up. Knowing I had good intentions and thinking I wasn't seeing some nefarious potential, had me wondering how dense/naive I might really be. I forgive you. So, where did Brent go? Do you think maybe he's lost interest? Or maybe he just got wrapped up in projects. I must say that there could be a great loss in productivity if all the contestants have to hold off on their projects until everyone's lined up at the starting gate and the referee fires the starting gun. Perhaps the rules need to be defined with people's individual schedules playing not so important a part in it? |

Maybe the OP figured out that making money is better than running contests. I hope so. For the record, If this ever goes anywhere, I am bowing out. I've been working night and day for about a month to get something going and I'm past $1 a day. It takes lots of works or lots of brains, I've been working hard so that tells you something, eh? |
