Re: Do you understand SEO? GET YOUR 1st SEO customer in 15 days...

Here is another update on my progress. I have comprehensively missed the get your first sale in 15 days target.
(I came down with a nasty flu and then injured my shoulder helping a friend move, both of these things have slowed my progress considerably.)

But it's ok, I've revised my goal in light of this and also due to the fact that I am putting a lot of effort into getting this right (or almost right at least) before I launch.

Right now I am aiming to have my site polished enough to start marketing in the next 7 days and I'm aiming for my first sale in the next fortnight.

I am still working hard on building my business model and writing good quality content for my website. I'm finding it hard to decide whether to offer set price packages or customise quotes for each client based on their circumstances, there are so many differing opinions about pricing methods, so I would appreciate any opinions on pricing structures from people already in the industry.

I have a great site design and logo, thanks to nikeman070 here on WF, he is just putting the finishing touches on it for me. I really recommend his services, you can find him in the warrior for hire section.

I have hired an SEO consultant from odesk and I am currently testing his skills on a website I built for a family members small business. I have some concerns about his methods so I am looking at hiring another consultant as well to test on another website and have placed an ad in the wanted section of WF for this, as I was discouraged by the quality of applicants I got on Odesk. Maybe some of them were good, but virtually none of them addressed my criteria they just sent their templated replies that they use for all SEO job applications.

I have also invested in Raven Tools as I wanted a good quality SEO suite for keeping track of all information and metrics for my projects, It also makes it easy to create feature rich branded reports for clients which I like too.

My biggest challenge right now is producing content that explains the features, advantages and benefits of SEO whilst walking the line between oversimplification and over complication.

I have been trying to write today and not been very productive, so I thought writing this post might help get the words flowing. I'm going to get back to work now. Best of luck to everyone else.

hey sallan.... great job mate, 15 days was just a number... you are doing brilliant.
My suggestion is NOT to hire an SEO guy until you sell SEO... make sense, unless the SEO guy can become a lead generation guy also

DoubleOhDave sure mate. I used to live in Dublin for 2 years, happy to help you.

Woodward82 - great mate, my suggestion is : once you get an email... CALL. I usually call AUTOMATIC, as soon as they email me, I call them. Boom! fast, show them you are interested and that you ARE REAL THERE ... a phone call may NOT sell the deal, but it may provide the trust they need to close.

I'm testing two consultants now, as I want to be certain that I am offering my paying a customers top quality service. The SEO market is filled with contractors that are still spamming directories and free classified sites and calling that SEO. Also the sites that get good results I am able to use as examples of results for paying customers. I already have my first lead based on the results for one site.

I am happy to invest some cash to ensure the service I am selling can deliver results.

hi, rankinghero. I am glad I found this post. This is my first post in WF and I really want to learn a lot from experts here.

Honestly, I always wanted to learn SEO. I am a Freelance VA and sometimes I have to let go of clients because I don't know SEO. I always wanted to learn it but I don't know where to start. I am even more determined to learn SEO to explore other means of earning.

Please help me. Where should I start so that I can learn SEO?

Thanks.

arcamir, if you want to learn SEO, a great place to start is SEOmoz (google it) just start reading and see if it really is something you are interested in, there are heaps of great resources out there for learning.

embose64, the challenge is, in a nutshell start your own business as an SEO consultant. The challenge starts when you start working towards that goal

So I said to my wife: I'm taking June off, going to try to learn to play golf (I suck at it), spend more time walking to the dog at the beach (I have a heavy German Shepperd) and help some people interesting in selling SEO.

SO... the challenge is
Get your 1st SEO customer in 15 day (and or) make your 1st $1000 in 15 day.

I know many of you guys are already selling SEO. So if that's the case... may be this is not for you, this is for people that are new in this game.
But for sure you can find ideas.

Here are some rules.
1. No bad vibe guys - so Trolls are not welcome.
2. If you are reading this and you are an SEO consultant, don't hijack the thread.
3. No... I don't do one on one coaching. Any question please post it here.
4. I want to help people PUMPED and full of energy. Complainers, sad people, people that don't believe in "going for it" .... no need to play the game.
5. You don't need to buy anything to start. Just willing to give it a go.
6. If you achieve your goal, then pay it forward... and help someone else.

Before you ask... Who am I? This guy. Interviewed in Mixergy a few months ago. You can hear my whole story there or check my main blog.

Ok anyone ready to play?
JUST PRESS QUICK REPLY AND SHOW YOU ARE NOW PART OF THE CHALLENGE.

great pleasure if you help me
i am interested.

Mainly you want to hire people that are flexible to learn.
My suggestion is: if you get a big client, consider outsourcing your SEO may be to a white label reseller.... or then train the outsourcer to do part of the job.

Mainly you want to "test them" with your own sites, or give them jobs that if they fail is not the end of the world.

Example: social bookmarking -- making a mistake is not such a big deal vs posting cr*ppy comments in high profile blogs.

The important thing is: hire cheap and train them fast.
If they fail, you move on ....
If you want a reasonably priced outsourcer, you could try oDesk.com.

Hello rankinghero,

I am ready to take on this challenge and make $1,000 by September. I know basic SEO and how it all technically works. I know the following as well and how they work.

1) On-site SEO
2) Link Building
3) Social Media Integration
4) Google Places (or know called Google Plus)

Hopefully I can find some people interested in optimizing their site.

I run my own SEO service here on the warriorforum so this challenge really isn't meant for me. But i would like to take the time and give a really great tip that has always worked wonders.

Always treat your customers with kindness. If you help people the money will come naturally!

rankinghero
There is one thing in my mind that I never get rid of it is that:
When I contact someone I always think if I were in their shoes I will feel like "uhh I don't like to buy anything from you, that huge price $400+ is not for me, I don't want it, i don't like to make a little traffic from $400 investment"
I think they will think the same as me.

So another question is do you rank all kinds of competition?

BTW, I'm a 19 years old Thai. I have only $70 budget. I've never made any decent income online. Can I still make money by cold emailing SEO?

My last question is what was in your mind when you were trying to get your first SEO service sale ever? Did you have low budget like me?

Do what you want and like and don't listen to those stoppers because what they think is none of your business.

Hey Fellas,

We maybe in luck here!
We're starting to form a team, if you haven't noticed. Businesses fail when they don't have a good team. We're starting to form a team, right from the beginning. And so, we all or atleast some may fair well.
I mean, look at this Aussie Fella, Ranking Hero!
He is spilling out all the beans on the table for all Seo Experts!
What I mean is, Seo Experts are good at technical work such as building good ranks for your websites but they're not all good on finding leads and so hire employees to find leads for their businesses.
And, sales professionals who seek leads, they keep it a big secret on how to find leads.
But this guy Ranking Hero is giving-away all his trade secrets in a silver plateu to you guys for free! There are probably Click Bank products (courses on how to do seo and how to find leads) teaching you just what he's revealing here for free. So, he is kicking their stomaches! Good! Lol!

And, I see a lot of newbies here jumping at this opportunity and using him as a free ride on how to write lead finding sales letters, how to find leads, how to find bad seo sites, etc. without paying him anything.
AND, that has CAUGHT my attention.
You see, I am a software developer (student, for now) and in the last few nights been searching for a good software idea. Figured a "customer lead finding" software would sell but I'm no marketer and don't know how to find leads and so was youtubing 2 nights in the last weekend and learnt a few tactics but still am confused where to start on my softwares.
Have read a few lead finding tactics here.
So, how about this .....

I can try building a software that finds customer leads for you guys (who ever's interested) and we share in the profits equally. 3 shares. Me, you (whoever you are that runs the software) and Ranking Hero or whoever the Seo guy would be. Howabout that ?
Ranking Hero can be our guide on how to find leads and teach us seo for free (what too look for in a bad seo site and what to look for in a good seo site). I can be the programmer building the lead finding software (but no promises I would succeed in building it but I will try and so don't blame me if I fail or lose interest in this venture and whatever you do don't revolve your ventures or livelihoods around me and my software. If I succeed then good but if I fail building it then doesn't matter. No harm done! Take me as a bonus, if I can manage building the software the way we want. Remember, I'm still a student and no big pro software developer).
You guys (who have been squeezing tips out of him to find customer leads to do seo work or outsource seo work and earn as a middleman) can use the software to find leads. When you find leads, just forward them to an seo expert you trust and get them to do the job. If Ranking Hero is willing, then forward your leads to him. Once he gets paid, he can split the profits with us. So, if a lead results in a $600 sale, then Ranking Hero gets $200, you the software user get $200 and I get $200. 3 equal shares.
Something of that sort. That was just a rough pricing or sharing. We can work things out, later (if anyone's interested).

So, how will I build the software ?
I'll teach the software to keyword search on the searchengines for your chosen keywords. When the searchengine presents results (links), it will browse the sites listed at the bottom and check their pages for "bad seo" and make a list of all their "bad seo" onto a .csv file. Something like this:

Page:
lose fat blahblah.com/losefat

Rank:
30

Bad Seo List:
No alt tags on images
Too many anchor text stuffing
Too many external links
<title> tag missing
Url contains unpreffered characters
And so on.

The software would generate a "bad seo" and "good seo" report. Or, to make things easier for me, just the "bad seo" report.
You guys can then show the report to the sites to convince them to buy your services. Once the lead is hooked, forward him to your seo expert (who we got contract arranged).
Once the seo expert gets paid, he splits the earnings with you and me.
Simple.

Just imagine what this seo lead finding software can do. It can tour thousands of sites while you're asleep and generate reports. You can then manually email the site owners. Yes, I can program the software to auto email the owners your sales letter but I don't want my software to be classified as a spammer. But, I might add this feature if a lot of you guys ask for it.
Remember, I'm not spamming here advertising my software simply because I haven't even built it yet so how can I spam about something which doesn't exist ?
I'm just saying, I'm in the mood to build it so it can go out on the internet to sites after sites in the tonnes and try building us tonnes of leads so we can earn a handsome instead of peanuts.
Now, Ranking Hero, when are you gonna give us OPENLY a list of what is bad seo and what is good seo in this forum so I can ATLEAST try teaching the tool to check for these bad seo items ? Cross reference against the list.
I can find lists online but they maybe outdated and no good after Google Panda and Penguine updates and I don't have time to buy seo courses and read pages after pages to learn.
And so, I need the real seo expert Ranking Hero, to just handover OPENLY here in this thread a simple to understand list.

I hope the mod doesn't delete this post. What's wrong if we group up via a thread to launch a business ?
