It's linked with an anchor in the very first post of this thread. This is a great thread, and a great idea. I'm currently reading my way through the updates on Jason's site, it's nice to have everything laid out step by step, and next week I think I will have a crack at this too. The really good thing is that the way it has been done it should prove relatively simple to actually replicate this, albeit with a different niche of course, so I will see how I go and try and make an effort to keep a bit of a diary of my efforts which I'll put up online once I'm on my way into the project. |

Yes, it appears some bright spark decided to hack the site. I'm currently getting 150-200 spam messages a day and now someone kindly thought they'd hack it. I've got my webhost plugging the security holes and I have removed all the malware from the site. I've also installed a couple more plugins that should help make it more secure. All the best Jason

Hands down this is the best forum I have ever had the pleasure of being part of. Usually you find one or two people like yourself Jason, here everyone wants to help. I will be getting involved with this ASAP. Going to read your blog from day 1 to begin with. I already have my niche and site up and running so this should be interesting. Thanks again and best of luck! Regards, Jack Carr |

Hey Jason I made a comment on day 48 of your blog. I dont think it was out of line and yet you deleted it instead of answering it. The fact is you are 48+ days in and your site had not made a single penny. If you were in the real word and had no money your internet would have been shut off by now. Most people do not have the amount of time needed to do all the work you have done in the 48 some odd days and if that is the case how can you expect someone doing this part time (1-2hrs a day) to make any money using your methods. The only money made was a small amount writing articles. I am not trying to be negative but when do you think you will actually make some money?

Making money and starting a business is easy, if you made heaps of money in 40 days everyone would do it. He shows you how to make enough money to get things going and keep things afloat without an income from the website... where is the problem with this? At the end of things you will have learnt how to make a affiliate site and get things set up nicely, you will probably have a list and most likely you will be making some money. Even if you dont make any money within the 90 days you gaina ton of knowledge that you can take away and re-use on another nice etc. This is not all about the money.

Hi Jason, What an GREAT competition! And a very inspiring one at that! I will certainly follow your progress and check your site regularly! Will you be keeping a "log" of your actions as you go along? Or will you be producing a end of competition report? When you accomplisht the $100 a day mark by January, I would be interested in purchasing your log :-) Keep up the great work! Kind regards Dan |

Sorry Jack, have to disagree - The challenge is to be making 100$ per day by day 90, so it is about the money. I fully agree that it is about the learning, and this is totally great for people to be able to watch it develop in real time. Fantastic in fact, a really good share. BUT - I was wondering myself, if the 100$ per day within 90 days is to be achieved you would think the site should be generating a few dollars per day at this stage... Interesting to hear Jasons thoughts on that. BTW - I am not saying that the target won´t be reached, I am confident in Jason´s abilities. All the best Jason, kind regards.

The challenge is meant to simulate the real world, i.e. you have a job, family commitments and don't have a small fortune to fling at generating traffic and you haven't got more than a couple of hours a day to work on the business. I could make money from my website tomorrow if I wanted to, it's not hard to do, but starting from scratch without indepth knowledge and having to rank in the search engines is hard work. This challenge has illustrated that you are not going to get rich by pushing a button sat in your underwear, that making money online part time without investing any money takes time and effort. The site is ranking higher in the search engines, but I think that the main money site isn't going to earn a lot just before Christmas because people are focusing their attentions elsewhere. I'm still building links to the site and getting it ranking and I'll look forward to it making sales next year when people are no longer worrying about Christmas. My second site, an Amazon site, is starting to generate traffic now so I am going to keep pushing that. If I could spend 10-12 hours a day on this then I could get the sites ranking and earning in a fraction of the time, but I'm spending an hour or two a day maximum on the challenge sites because I have other commitments that I need to focus on too. Running the challenge, answering questions and making the posts is taking 3-4 hours a day most days by itself. For your information with the writing gigs so far I've made around $800-$900 from them, so that's nothing to be sniffed at. I've not spent any of my own money on anything for this challenge, I've earned it all as many of the people who are on this challenge would need to do so. I'm endeavouring to simulate what it is like starting a business online with no money and a full time job, and I'm proving that it requires work, but it can be done with no resources. Unfortunately the last few days I've injured myself (hernia) so haven't been able to do much, but am catching back up on it all as we speak. I am still confident that I can get some results, I am aiming to build another couple of sites in the next week or two, and keep with the link building. If I hit $100 a day after 100 days ... isn't that still a win? And for someone who has never made a dime online, showing them how they can make some money (gigs / writing) and start creating their own websites is a real big win. I'll keep everyone informed of the progress and you will be hearing me shout when I make the first sale! All the best Jason

It all comes down to managing your time. Unfortunately, most people get distracted when working online and end up goofing off on Facebook or forums like this one rather than getting any real work done.
And yes Jack, that's exactly it. When you are done with this challenge you will know how to set up an affiliate site but, as I'm finding out you'll also learn so much more. You can read all the ebooks and WSO's you want about how to rank your site and drive traffic but, until you actually put the concerted effort towards doing so, those will all be nothing but theories to you as far as you are concerned. I've been working on my own site along with this challenge and the amount of knowledge I've gained from doing this has been worth it's weight in gold.
Hope you feel better and I'm looking forward to hearing about your progress!

Jason, thanks for the inspiration. I've signed up for your email and look forward to following you on the rest of the challenge. I just started mine today. I don't want to hijack this thread, so I'll just post on Feb. 1, March 1, and again the first week of April with my overall results. I chose a program I bought months ago. It uses Fiverr to make some money and to get a list, the real purpose! Thanks again for the idea. Mary |

Hi Folks, Well, it's been a busy holiday season here and I've had a lot to do to prepare for some opportunities offline, so haven't had a lot of time online over the last week or so. Between that and cooking, it's been a bit busy! I've just got my hands on a new tool to monitor my backlinks so I am going to be able to give more information about what is working and what isn't. I'm intending on buying a couple of fiverr links to my money site and to see what effect that has on the rankings. How are you doing with your money sites? Are they ranking yet? How have you got on with doing the SEO? To your success Jason |

Just to back this up, I've started following this from the perspective of a beginner (I've been building websites for years but now I can see that my marketing was appalling, the days of putting it up and letting Google deliver all your traffic are long gone!) I'd recommend anyone that's thinking of giving it a go to take the plunge, if you stick to the rules then you've only got $30 to loose (your initial allowed seed capital). |

The facebook group seems to have gone the same way - would be nice to know how/if the goal was reached. Having said that though, even if there is no conclusion to this comp, there is still a wealth of useful information to be gleaned from Jasons 90 day section on his blog |

It seems Jason dropped the ball on this challenge. Kept it updated for a little over a month them it slowed right down. Almost no updates for the last half of the challenge. At least he posted some good content at the beginning. Hi "co-challenger" made one post on day one and then vanished. Very disappointed in the way this whole thing went, probably just a list building exercise.

Hi ad26kr, Being an affiliate of a product means that you receive compensation when a person buys something after being told about it by you. If you drove that person to your information using ppc then yes its the same. By strict definition it is different because ppc can be used for other forms of marketing too - like raising brand awareness, for example. Hope this helps, Andy |
