How did I miss this challenge?! I'm in like Flynn ;-) Not like me to start a challenge late though, eh? (ahem... lol)

Don't even know which site(s) I'm going to write for, or what on.

Tell you what - I do need to set up and develop a brand new niche blog a.s.a.p. because I'm going to need several case studies for a new membership that I'm developing. So I guess that's a couple of niche blogs needing articles.

I won't be revealing those blog URLs for obvious reasons, but I can show any articles that I write for pauldwilliams.com - Writer - and I have already written a few posts there this month. So for this challenge why don't I concentrate my focus there and I'll write 30 articles to help set out my stall as a writer and writing teacher, ready for my writing courses and products that are in the pipeline? Yes, that's what I'll do.

Thanks for starting up a fun and useful challenge!

Paul

Yeah - Welcome on board Paul. The more the merrier I say.

When I started this challenge, I intended to use the articles to build up my EzineArticles.com portfolio but now I have produced content that can be used for a couple of blogs too.

Setting myself the task of producing one page per day has already helped to build up a nice set of relevant pieces of writing which is fantastic!

Enjoy the challenge and Happy Writing

30 Day Article Writing Challenge - DAY NINE

Started another report today for the PLR store so even though I didn't get the report done, I did get the first article finished! That counts as my article page for today!

I'm running to do errands and then returning again for more writing! Let's see if I can get a couple of days worth done today! That would be awesome!

21 more articles to go!

Excellent news. An article, a blog post, a section of a report - it all counts as something that you have accomplished for the day.

Congrats

30 Day Article Writing Challenge - DAY TEN

It is Day Number Ten and I have written up my article for the day. I am glad that I completed the task nice and early because I am of to the sea-side for the day.

I am off to a place called Whitstable, which is supposed to be absolutely georgous. The weather is good today so I really looking forward to it.

I will share photos of the day either on Facebook or my travel blog: Part Time Travels

Have a great day everyone.

Happy Writing

30 Day Article Writing Challenge - DAY TEN

Wrote my article for the day. Started a new PLR package on "Niche Marketing," which I will work on simultaneously with the report I started yesterday.

Just felt like writing on a different topic today. For some reason, niche marketing was on my mind!

According to my new schedule, I'm supposed to take the day off to spend with the partner, but since we've already watched two movies - I banged out an article in between the shows! LOL

20 articles to go!

We have guests this weekend so I'm having to box clever with fitting in the article writing. I wrote the first 800 words of a long piece yesterday, part of an anticipated 3000 word showcase article on one of my niche websites.

Today I'm going to write past the 1500 word mark and turn three or four of the sentences into graphical quotation images that I can put social sharing buttons on, to encourage a bit of backlinking through sharing.

On my dog walk this morning I'll try to work out how I can portray this information in a simple infogaphic too.

Well done Bonnie - It's nice when you can get a balance between leisure time and a little bit of work too, even though it was supposed to be your day off. lol

But when you enjoy the work, it doesn't seem so bad does it?

That sounds like an excellent idea Paul, creating quotes and graphics from your own content.

Hope you are filled with inspiration on your dog walking excursion

30 Day Article Writing Challenge - DAY ELEVEN
Yesterday I spent a lovely day with friends down by the seaside in Whitstable. We went to the Farmer's Market first, then took a walk along the beach. I even dipped my toe in the water (not freezing but not that warm either).

It was a great day all round, which I hope to repeat at some point.

Back to the challenge - I have written my article for today. My pile is building up now so I have to get to submitting a couple to EZA. I hope to get that done this week.

Happy Sunday and Happy Writing Everyone

I realize it was supposed to be a day of leisure and partner time, but we rented 5 movies and had already watched 2 of them. The partner took a little break to get a bike ride in so I went to the office and wrote an article.

Once he returned, it was back downstairs for another sitting in front of the television.

So yes, to answer your question, it's great when you can do BOTH work and pleasure on the same day. I enjoy writing so it's a great thing when I can write on a day that I didn't plan to!

Nothing like a little insurance to keep on track!

Hi, everybody!

I started out with good intentions but ....

But, heck, I'm back with a vengeance! I did get two nice articles/blog posts written last week. And, guess what Victoria? They're for my Halloween site! I was excited to hear that you had decided to set a Halloween site up, too.

Last year I purchased Tiffany Lambert's Halloween PLR pack when she first released it but I haven't used it. I just have the hardest time using PLR in my sites! I find myself researching stuff and writing articles and blog posts from scratch anyway.

I know my initial goal of 200 blog posts seems lofty! But I really want to get a sizable amount of content up on that site before people start really searching for Halloween costumes. However, I have to stick to a stricter schedule and not get sidetracked as much as I have over the last two weeks.

I have decided to set up one or two Christmas websites this year. I need to jump on that $1.99 deal you shared as soon as I decided what those sites will be marketing.

I did check out Britt's WSO that you mentioned but haven't bought it yet. I read some of the comments on her WSO thread and they were very favorable. I know all the basic stuff about selecting my niche and setting up a blog but if I can garner one or two good strategies or nuggets of information, it will be worth the investment.

Now, I'm going back upstairs to purge the junk out of my youngest daughter's room while she's away and do a little cleaning! [HeHeHe] It's not something I want to do but I have the energy to tackle it today. So, off I go!

Hope to check in with you guys tomorrow with a favorable update.

Have a wonderful and relaxing Sunday!

Iris

Make every day count!

30 Day Article Writing Challenge - DAY ELEVEN

I just finished writing my article for today - the 2nd one for the Niche Marketing PLR package so I am very pleased with myself!

Today is Video Sunday, which means I'm supposed to create a video for today, but I'm feeling lazy. Not sure if I'll actually get the video done - we shall see!

The article I submitted last week was finally approved. Can't wait to see more get approved as the days go by!

Hi Iris,
It is great that you have a plan in mind and in place. The next step is to take action. I know how hard that can be, especially with so many other distractions, like real life. lol.

You can only work at a pace that you are comfortable with so just go with the flow.

Happy Sunday to you and let's get those holiday sites up and running

Bonnie,

I have drafted out my Sunday blog but was in my pjs when I realised I hadn't done the video yet. Wasn't feeling it so that will get done tomorrow morning.

Glad to hear your EZA article got published. I must get onto that myself. No use having the content cluttering up my hard drive eh?

Happy Sunday, and here's to a very productive week ahead

why write yourself when you can hire others and be busy with more profitable stuff yourself? its a cool challenge just never got the gist why people would write themself unless its very high standard writing that would be very expensive to outsource

Hi Adam,

The idea of outsourcing is a great one because a lot can be achieved while you can get on with other stuff. There are some people who don't like the idea of not having complete control. There are also some people who can't afford to do this yet.

Another major reason why some people choose not to outsource is because writing isn't just about making money. Some people actually like writing - shock -gasp - horror (lol).

I outsource the things that I am not interesting in writing about I enjoy putting pen to paper, or fingertips to keyboard.

Thanks for stopping by - Happy Outsourcing

30 Day Article Writing Challenge - DAY TWELVE

Today, according to my new schedule, is a day for writing - all day long!

I just finished the third article in my "Niche Marketing PLR" package. I'm on a roll, Victoria!

Even though I felt lazy yesterday and didn't think I would get my Video Sunday done, I did it anyway! I figured I was making excuses not to fix the hair so before I allow myself to fall into that "I'm feeling too lazy trap" I just did the dang thing! LOL

Hopefully, you'll have a chance to visit the blog. I checked your blog out, but didn't see your video yet. I'll check back later today.

18 more articles to go!

It's hard to determine whether somebody is or isn't outsourcing content by looking at the participants of an article writing challenge. Some of us may outsource "certain writing gigs" while we're writing additional pieces.

Since I'm a ghostwriter and PLR writer, I like to write on a constant basis to keep my talent in pristine condition. Other writers take this same approach when they read. The more they read, the better they write.

While I canโ€™t answer for anyone else, I prefer to continue writing to keep my pencil sharpened. I believe practice leads to better writing.

adamprattler,

Glad you asked??? Some people write themselves because they just plain enjoy it. And, as Victoria stated, some people like to have control over their content. As for me, I really enjoy research and compiling my thoughts and findings into an article or blog post.

Those of us with a pretty good command of the English language, grammar, and punctuation prefer to do our own writing if we have the time.

And if I did outsource the writing, I'm sure it would be cost-prohibitive for the high-quality content I want produced.

Adam, are you currently outsourcing your content? If so, have you been satisfied with the results?

I love this challenge. Reading all these posts is inspiring!

It's a little late for me to jump in, but I highly encourage you to start another one next month, and I'll join it for sure.

I've been a freelance writer for about three years now, and while I am certainly going to continue writing for others, I'm starting to branch out a bit to include writing for my own sites. I'm working on setting one up now, and it should be in need of some great articles by the first of the month when, hopefully, you start a new challenge!

Also, I encourage everyone to post links to their daily articles here. It would be great to read them, and maybe people can get/give some feedback as well!

Thanks!

Michael

Hi Michael,

Victoria and I intend to run another article challenge in November (on Facebook), but if she's willing to hold another one here in a month's time, I'll hop aboard! I'll use the accountability to continue filling my PLR store.

RE: Posting links to our completed articles.

I thought I did already, but I may have missed a day or so. The one article I completed is quite long and used as a value-post on my blog. You are certainly invited to read it at What Are You Willing To Do To Get Ahead As An Internet Marketer?

The other article written through this challenge, The 3 Most Common Mistakes Newbies Make in Internet Marketing, was approved by EzineArticles.com.

The 2nd article I shared with EzineArticles.com, Why You Should Start A Blog To Build A Network Of Business Friends hasn't been approved to go live. When it does, I can post a link.

NOTE: I should've placed the articles on my blog first (before sharing them), but I was in a hurry to refill my author account at EZA since all of my previous writing used a pen name. It's a blunder I won't repeat.

I wrote 6 pages (on the 6th day) to catch up to the other challengers and placed the report on my PLR store for sale so there's no link where you can read the content.

Additionally, the remaining 3 pages are on Niche Marketing, which I am going to turn into a 5-article package for the PLR store. Unfortunately, this means I can't share the writing for your perusal.

- Bonnie

The Ultimate Goal of This Challenge
I hope to write these articles and publish them on Ezinearticles.com, in order to provide backlinks to a couple of my blogs.

I have decided to create a challenge here in the forum so that other people can join in if they would like to. Sometimes working on a challenge alongside others helps to keep you motiviated.

If you would like to join, all you need to do is pop over to this thread and confirm that you wrote your article.

The Rules
It is simply to write an article each day. No more, no less.

I am not sure about the forum rules here - ie - if you are allowed to add the link to the article you have written in this forum.

If we are, then I will be doing so here. Ezinearticles can take a few days to publish articles so the links might not show up immediately.

I have written lots of articles for EZA but they are under different pen names. I would now like to brand my own name, therefore the next 30 articles will be under Victoria Virgo.

*I know that there are 31 days in August - but The 30 Day Challenge has a much nicer ring to it. lol

That's it. The challenge Starts on Thursday 1 August 2013. It would be nice to have some company. Who's with me?

Hi Victoria,

First of all, I'd like to say how much I admire your ambition. You're obviously an "action taker" and with a proven plan, that's designed to last long term, that alone can result in success 99% of the time.

I do need to inform you that while your method isn't completely outdated, it's mostly outdated. Yes, you should still submit your articles to EzineArticles.com, but not before you post them to your own site FIRST and get them indexed!

EzineArticles.com will still accept your article as long as it's published on a site that you own. There's no reason in the world to be giving them your work without you reaping the benefits from it first.

Here's how to properly syndicate your content now:

http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...ml#post6575732

Also, post #11 by MattCatania is fantastic advice!

God bless!

Joe

P.S. I also highly recommend visiting Alexa Smith's signature link. She's written a fantastic article on the do's, the don't's, the how's, the why's, etc of writing articles that have the greatest chance of being picked up for syndication. A+ reading material!

Hi Joe,

Thank you so much for your comment. This is great advice that I might not have received if I had not started this challenge.

When I started this challenge, I thought that EZA publishing would be a good goal to aim for. As I started writing an article a day, I realised that there are so many other options such as blog posts, ebook chapters, kindle books etc.

Thank you so much for the heads up on publishing to my own sites first before syndicating my content. I will definitely be doing that from now on.

Will also be checking out the posts you referred to.

It is great being an "Action Taker" because it is only through taking action that you learn what works and what doesn't work.

You also get to "meet" some helpful and encouraging people along the way.

Thanks Joe

30 Day Article Writing Challenge - DAY THIRTEEN
I wasn't feeling too well today so my day got started a little late. I am happy that I have managed to get my latest article written though.

Bonnie - Congrats on getting your article published on your blog and on EZA.

Also there is some great advice from Joe about publishing our articles on our own sites FIRST and then syndicating them. Go check out the links above.

Happy Writing Everyone

You're welcome. :-)

You see, since Google's "Panda" and "Penguin" updates, EzineArticles.com and other article directories like it have been massively devalued by Google and other search engines. Google has also stated that they're devaluing links that come from article directories as well. You should still submit them to EZA, but it should be the LAST place you submit to.

Here is how we should all be doing article syndication now. I've copied a few tidbits from other threads, added a link to a thread that explains everything you need to know (without my having to repeat it) and given you a short list of individuals here on the Warrior Forum that are doing extremely well syndicating their content to multiple sites across the internet.

Visit this link to learn how to find relevant article syndication partners. (same as above)

http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...ml#post6575732

These four people below are a few of the most respected individuals when it comes to article syndication. I HIGHLY recommend that you listen to them and do exactly what they say. By the way, yes, I'm doing it too. I have written well over 1000 articles for EZA and other directories under multiple pen names in the past, but no more. There are better ways.

AlexaSmith
JohnMcCabe
MYOB
TPW

In addition to syndicating to other sites, newsletters, etc you can also do the following:

Turn your articles or blog posts into a PDF and submit them to places like scribd and other PDF directories. Make sure that you put at least a handful of links, especially at the end, that link back to your site or blog. I use a website called Print Friendly & PDF which will turn any page on your site or blog into a PDF instantly by simply adding the URL of the page.

Turn every one of your articles into a slideshow and submit them to slideshare.net for a nice traffic boost. Google loves this site!

Take snippets from that slideshow and record yourself reading it (or use royalty free background music) using some screen capture software, then post on places like YouTube, Vimeo and Metacafe. I use a software called GFX Video Writer that allows you to easily import your articles, add images, comes with royalty free music already installed that you can choose from and more. I believe it's $29.95, but I used a coupon code and got it cheaper. Try copying in the word VIDEO (all upper case) and, if it still works, you'll get it for around half price.

You can also compile several of your related articles, turn them into a PDF and use them as a giveaway incentive to join your mailing list. Sheesh, you could also compile several, turn them into a PDF, get a book cover created at Fiverr.com for $5.00 and sell it!

By the way, you should have a way for people to subscribe to a newsletter on every page of your sites! Most people will visit your site once and never return. However, if you give them incentive to sign up for a newsletter you can contact them (market to them) again and again as long as they remain on your list.

*THIS is the most important thing you should be doing! If you build lists of subscribers you'll eventually have "traffic on demand". I've had to learn this the hard way. I urge you to start building a list for every niche you're in right away!

Here are more ways that you can use your content. These originally came from James Schramko, but I borrowed them from another Warrior. I believe it was JohnRomaine. Give credit where credit is due. :-)

Facebook page
Facebook group
Google +
Google + communities
Stumbleupon
Linkedin profile page
Docstoc
Digg
Twitter
Aweber, GetResponse or other autoresponder. Broadcast your new content to your list every time you add it to your site.

I know that this is a lot to take in, but do you see how many times you can leverage each piece of content you create?

Once you've done everything else on this list, then you can give EzineArticles.com your article. :-)

Most important things to remember!

#1. Get your article indexed on your site FIRST! I do this by submitting a slide presentation to YouTube.com and place a link back to my site at the beginning of the description like so:

http://www.MyWebsite.com - "Then I write my description".

Remember to only use snippets or "bullet points" in your slides, keep them short (no more than 1-2 minutes) and use a strong "call to action" at the end. Don't put the entire article in the presentation. Just give them a "taste" and make them visit your site to read all of the content.

Also, put your home page URL at the bottom of each presentation slide. That way people will always see your website URL even if the video is being used by someone else on their site. Make sense? I hope so.

#2. Build a list in every niche you enter! There's an old saying that goes "the real money is made on the backend" and it's 100% true! You'll build relationships with people over time and they'll learn to trust you. People buy from people that they know, like and trust.

#3. You should focus on making your articles (and follow-up messages in your autoresponder) entertaining, controversial, educational, etc. Develop your own style and don't be disappointed if people unsubscribe. You'll be simply "paring" your list like trimming a bush until you have an audience that's extremely targeted and WANTS to hear from you!

As far as follow up messages go, don't wait until you're an expert copywriter to take action! Use an opening paragraph about what's going on in your life, your business, tell a joke, etc and then simply say something like "If you've ever wanted to learn more about how to dye red widgets into blue widgets (example) I've written a step by step article that will teach you benefit #1, benefit #2, benefit #3, etc (you can even use the bullet points from your video presentations for this).

Click here to visit www.MySite.com to learn more!

Then simply send them to your list every 3-4 days (some say more often) and drive those subscribers back to your site. That's a great way to start. You can always go back and update them later, if you'd like.

#4. Always include a link back to your site and make sure that you have product links visible so visitors have the opportunity to BUY stuff!

Also, don't be afraid to send people directly to a product review every 3-4 emails. You're running a business and you must "always be selling" in order to make money. Just be honest in your product reviews and only recommend products or services that you've tried yourself and that you think will benefit their lives in some way.

Anyway, I've written a book here already. I truly hope that this helps you and others to get on the right track and opens your eyes to the potential that syndicating your content properly can have on your business.

Best,

Joe

Hi Michael,

It is never too late to jump in. Getting one article written per day until the end of month gives you 17 articles!

As Bonnie mentioned, there will be another Article Writing Challenge in November - over on Facebook. I hope that you will be able to take part.

This challenge has been great for improving my productivity level so I know that another one will be happening at some point. Maybe not next month but watch this space.......

I have my "To Do" list and I am glad that several of the things that you have mentioned are on that list. Everything really does start with content, which we are all producing during this Article Writing Challenge.

Then it is just a matter of helping the world to find us by using the different platforms that are available.

Thanks for the share

Alright, you've convinced me. lol. I'll jump in starting today. I might be able to catch up too since I write A LOT, and with this new site I have a lot of stuff I need to link to.

So far today I've written two pages for my own sites (along with content for my customers). I'll post links below. Just remember, my page isn't 'live' yet so the formatting and other aspects won't look as good as they should!

Hire Me | Write For Money Online
How to write for money online | Write For Money Online

Also, I haven't proof-read them all the way yet so there may be some spelling or grammar issues in there.

Thanks again!

Michael

30 Day Article Writing Challenge - DAY FOURTEEN

Hello All,

I have written my article for today, which I am very pleased about. Then I got some news that made me laugh.

The initial idea for this challenge was to add my articles to EZA. Well I just got notification that a couple of my articles had a problem because they are linking to my blog, which refers to PLR.

I looked at the post in question. No mention of PLR. Then I scrolled down. I have a "Make Money with PLR" category link in the sidebar and at the bottom of my site there is a link to my website The PLR Boutique.

So that means that I can't link any EZA articles to my blog unless I want to remove those links. That ain't gonna happen.

So I will be using the articles for other things.

Hope all is going well with you.

Have a great day and Happy Writing

Sorry to hear about your ezine troubles! I'm sure you'll find another way to get the word out there! Great job on already getting your article for the day written.

I just finished one for today for my site as well! This is just my third one for the challenge though, so I have a lot of catching up to do!

Article #2 for today has been completed, that's 5 so far for the challenge. I'll catch up soon! (though I just got an order from a client, so I'll have to focus on that for a bit).

Here is a link to it, for those who are interested.

That's absolutely ridiculous since EZA has tons of PLR in their directory! And they're slapping your hand because you have a link on a blog sidebar about PLR? ROFL

I was intrigued with this decision so I went to EZA and did a search on PLR. I was amazed at just how many pages and pages there are of it, with one of the most recently approved article on March 19, 2013!

Now, if they allow PLR to be in the title of an article, why don't they allow a PLR link positioned on your own blog?

I wouldn't worry about EZA - they're not the only suitable article directory in town!

Bonnie - Congrats on getting your article published on your blog and on EZA.

Also there is some great advice from Joe about publishing our articles on our own sites FIRST and then syndicating them. Go check out the links above.

Happy Writing Everyone
I never submit to EZA or any other article directory unless I publish it on my own site first. The only time this isn't the "norm" is when I agree to write an "exclusive" article for another site, which I've done many times in the past. However, there's usually an agreement set up beforehand so I get something in return.

I noticed the list of content expansion tasks. While it possesses some great ideas, it's not exhaustive. One of these days, I'll need to sit down and write a thorough list on what you can do with articles, blog posts, etc.

While you can certainly make video, I find this option very boring because they're usually just a bunch of bullet points with a person reciting them. Can you say snore? If you decide to make video articles, strive to make them interactive and engaging. Also, be certain to send people to a squeeze page so you get the ability to continue the conversation!

Hi Helena,

Jump right on board. The aim is to write an article a day and to feel good about that accomplishment. There are still lots of days left before this challenge ends so when you get your article written, pop by and let us know.

Happy Writing

This is hilarious - Another great example of a website moving the goalposts when the feel like it. (Squidoo anyone??)

As you say, EZA is not the only directory out there so I am not losing any sleep over this issue

Victoria,

I originally wrote this article for exclusivity with EZA, but after hearing what they did to you - they don't deserve exclusive articles.

Instead, I posted it on my blog today - How to Build Community Around a Challenge and decided to use it for Friday's podcast, too.

30 Day Article Writing Challenge - DAY THIRTEEN

Finished today's article for the 5-pack Niche Marketing PLR. One more article and this pack is ready to share on PLR Productions.

Of course it's not an "exhaustive" list. I could dig out dozens or more off the top of my head, not including the many resources I have on file shared by others. But it's a good start for most people that are new to article syndication AND it's a lot better than advising people to only submit articles to article directories. Those have been mostly ineffective ever since the Google Panda update of February, 2011. I know because it hit my sites and many others hard!

Although I do agree with you about videos with bullet points, the videos I create both rank well and bring in a decent amount of traffic. They're also a great way to pre-sell people on my articles, reviews, etc. I've learned from trial, error and others that just because "I" happen to look upon something a certain way, it doesn't mean that "everyone else" does too.

Google loves videos and they're super easy to get ranked for many "long tail" keyword phrases. I'll take that free traffic all day long.

The debate about whether using a squeeze page or simply sending people to a blog is pretty even between marketers that have been around any length of time. Some say to go straight for the sign up, while others say to answer the person's question first, position yourself as an expert (they may be coming from a different traffic source other than an article) and then use both a sign-up form on the site, exit pop-up or both.

Also, from what I understand, EzineArticles.com no longer allows links directly to squeeze pages in the resource box. Apparently, they don't feel it provides a good user experience. I'd certainly check with them right away if that's your intention.

Although EZA isn't completely worthless, it's definitely not the best way to use your content. Here's another recent thread regarding this topic. I HIGHLY, highly recommend that everyone pay close attention to what Alexa Smith and MYOB are saying.

A couple more things real quick. First of all, Victoria, I apologize if it seems like I'm trying to hijack your thread. That is not my intention at all. I'm just trying to make sure that readers are getting correct information regarding article syndication. That's all.

I think it's great that you started the challenge and I intend to start doing some writing again as soon as I'm finished with the rest of my "to-do" list, probably around September 1st.

To anyone that's sent me a PM (Private Message) from this thread, I have received it and replied. Unfortunately, you either need to have more than 50 posts or be a War Room member in order to send PMs. If you'd like, you can send me your email or Skype address and I promise to reply.

That being said, get back to writing!
