My Personal Challenge - Make $1500 by December 1st Via ClickBank and Article Syndication
Share on:
fb share twitter share gplus share more share

Hi all!

This thread is a continuation of the following thread:

http://www.warriorforum.com/member-c...ndication.html

It may take a few days for this thread to be approved and posted to the 'Member Contests & Challenges' section of the WF so please bare with me...what I'll probably do is summarize in a post what's happened during the days it took this thread to be approved...

Today's stats:

- 1st website = 7 visitors to the website

- 2nd website = 2 visitors to the website

- 3rd website = 4 visitors to the website

- 4th website = 2 visitors to the website

And of the 15 visitors to my website 3 subscribed...

Also, today I got a sale on product #1 so I earned $18 in commissions today...so adding that to the $54 of the first challenge I'm at $72...$1428 to go lol. :p

Likewise, I have 109 subscribers on my 'freebie' list and 3 on my buyer's list...

As for what I accomplished today I emailed 20 new website owners and I created 1 new message for both autoresponder series today...I'm still sick but I felt decent enough to get some work done...but feeling a little run down.

Moreover, the publisher that picked up my article from Ezinearticles got back to me and has agreed to syndicate more of my articles...we actually had chatted a bit through email and it turns out their website is pretty new and that they're working on getting traffic to it I provided a few suggestions that were well received...

I even pointed them to the WF...so the WF might be getting a new member lol...I hope they succeed...

Tomorrow's going to be a fairly eventful day...website owners #2, 3 and 4 will be publishing 1 of my articles each...and website owner #1 will be publishing 1 of my articles on Friday...

So hopefully I get visitors and ultimately some more subscribers from this spike in traffic...

Wish me luck on the new challenge guys!

Sorry everyone for not getting back to this thread when it was approved...I think yesterday...

Basically I'm just going to summarize where I am to date as opposed to breaking it down day by day...

I'm at 163 subscribers on my 'freebie' list...since October 3rd I've made 3 additional sales putting my grand total at $126 since I started and bringing me up to 6 subscribers on my buyers' list...

I have a 5th publisher (actually 6 but 1 of them won't be publishing my content for another week or 2) whose interested in getting content from me...they'll be publishing 1 of my articles tomorrow and they want to use a total of 4 of my articles.

Also, I've decided that for websites that I'm really interested in getting my content published on I'm going to take the advice of fellow warriors AnniePot and MikeTucker and mail letters to the publishers of those particular websites...according to Annie and Mike this would help set me apart in the minds of those publishers...I'll let everyone know how that goes once I do it...I might not do it right away.

Here is the post about mailing letters to potential syndication partners by AnniePot and MikeTucker:

http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...ml#post6119252

http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...ml#post6129080

So again...my apologies for not posting yesterday but I was a bit tired and figured I could start my regular posting on Monday...

Here are today's stats:

- 1st website = 39 visitors to my site

- 2nd website = 5 visitors to my site

- 3rd website = 3 visitors to my site

- 4th website = 2 visitors to my site

- 5th website (new publisher) = 26 visitors to my site

- 6th website (new publisher that published 1 of my Ezinearticles) = 22 visitors to my site

And of the 97 visitors to my website 11 of them subscribed...

Didn't get any sales today however.

As for the new publisher that found me on Ezinearticles, I contacted them about syndicating more of my articles...haven't heard back from them yet but I think they will be agreeable to it.

Today the 1st website owner published 1 of my articles today (and 1 on October 3rd as well)...so there's only 1 article left that she wants to use and it will be published sometime next week...

The 2nd website owner was supposed to publish 2 of my articles last week but only published 1...but upon contacting them (tried not to pester them) stated that the 2nd article would be published Thursday...

3rd website owner has already syndicated all the articles that they're interested in that I have thus far...

4th website owner has already used 2 of the 3 articles they were interested in syndicating last week...the last article will be published to their site tomorrow...

5th website owner has already used 1 of the 4 articles they're interested in publishing today and will use the next 1 on Thursday...they actually have a pretty set publishing schedule which is posting next content on Tuesdays and Thursdays...and so it will be because the 3rd article they're interested in will be published next Tuesday and the 4th will be published next Thursday...

And the 6th website owner hasn't gotten back to me yet so I don't know what other articles of mine they're interested in...

As for what I got accomplished today it wasn't much...I'm working on an 11th article but found it pretty difficult to sit down and concentrate...I think I've got a bit of writer's block at the moment but I hope to finish the article by the end of tomorrow...

And reconnected with some website owners/publishers that I've contacted in the past...didn't get any responses today...

Also, I eked out 1 autoresponder message apiece for both my subscribers' lists but I'm not happy with the 1 for the buyers' list so I may go back and make some changes...

I'm still feeling a tiny bit of the after effects of my cold from last week...it's definitely thrown off my sleeping schedule that's for sure...and for the last few days I've experienced some serious insomnia...

Also, forgot to mention that I managed to sell a couple of my items on eBay so I made a few bucks to take care of my hosting and email solution costs...

Good news...got another sale of product #1 today so that brings my grand total to $144!

Today's stats:

- 1st website = 25 visitors to site

- 2nd website = 4 visitors to site

- 3rd website = 2 visitors to site

- 4th website = 7 visitors to site

- 5th website = 21 visitors to site

- 6th website = 19 visitors to site

- 7th website (publisher that found me through Ezinearticles last month) = 2 visitors to site

And of the 80 visitors to my website 10 subscribed...

Today the 6th website owner got back to me and stated that they would be interested in publishing 3 more of my articles...

And the 7th website owner was the publisher who picked up 1 of my articles from Ezinearticles at the end of last month but generated no traffic to my site at first but now it looks like I got a few visitors so I'll be contacting them to remind them that they can pick up more articles if they would like.

As for what I accomplished today it was a decent amount...I finished my 11th article today so I posted it to my site and once it's indexed to my site first, I'll send it to my 7 publishers and then put it on Ezinearticles.

Also, I contacted another 30 website owners about syndicating my articles and I created 2 new autoresponder messages for both of my subscriber lists...

And I got some replies today from previous emails I sent out but all the responses were 'no' unfortunately. But as warrior myob suggests, some of these 'no' responses I'll reply back to at a later date because they could change their mind or circumstances could change...you never know...

More good news...got another sale of product #1 so that brings my grand total up to $162. And now I have 8 subscribers on my buyers' list.

Today's stats:

- 1st website = 19 visitors to my site

- 2nd website = 12 visitors to my site

- 3rd website = 4 visitors to my site

- 4th website = 4 visitors to my site

- 5th website = 52 visitors to my site

- 6th website = 15 visitors to my site

- 7th website = 0 visitors to my site

And of the 106 visitors to my site 13 subscribed...

The 7th website owner got back to me today and said that she would be interested in using 3 more of my articles but isn't certain when they'd use them because they're still building up the site and wants to use mostly their own content, and they're also building up the site's traffic...but I've got a Google Alert on my articles so even if she uses my content and doesn't remember to email me about it I'll be alerted anyway...

As for what I accomplished today I sent out 20 emails to website owners and I created 1 email message for both my subscriber lists...didn't get much accomplished today because I was for some reason in the mood to surf around the WF...I was a bit bored and restless today...did more surfing than I care to admit yesterday too...

I might have to start being strict with myself about the time I spend surfing around on the WF and the net in general...could be using that time to get more stuff done!

Furthermore, I'm going have to start brainstorming some more keyword phrases that I can use to find potential syndication partners that my content would be relevant and work for...I'm starting to scrape the bottom of the barrel for website owners I can contact without it being a direct competitor or sites that are irrelevant/don't compliment the niche I'm in...

Also, got some replies today from previous emails and all of them were either 'no' to syndicating my content or publishers wanting 'unique' content...

So what's on the agenda over the course of the next few days to the coming weeks:

1. Come up with more keyword phrases I can type into Google to find potential syndication partners.

2. Maybe switching to self-hosted autoresponder solution to keep my cost to a minimum and to have more control over my subscriber lists, plus a few of the plug-ins/software have features that providers such as Aweber, GetResponse, Constant Contact, etc. don't have.

3. Get the CB List Automator so I can have an automated and more reliable way of getting buyers of product #1 onto my buyers' list (I missed getting 1 buyer on my list for some reason and I don't want it happening again).

4. Implementing the snail mail tactic as another way of contacting/communicating with potential syndication partners, especially to get the attention of publishers I've contacted but have yet to get a response from, plus it will help to set me apart and possibly to establish better rapport.

5. Look into picking up a newer copy of Writer's Market so I can maybe start contacting offline outlets (I have a copy from 2005...that's too old lol).

There's probably more I need to have on the agenda but those are the 5 that come to mind.

No sales today.

As for what I accomplished today...I emailed 38 website owners today and I created 3 new autoresponder messages to both of my subscriber lists...

My 11th article was indexed today so I emailed my 8 publishers the article (the 8th website owner is the person who said it would be a little while before they used any of my articles), and after emailing my publishers I submitted the article to Ezinearticles...

Good news...made a sale today of product #1 bringing my grand total up to $180...and I now have 9 subscribers on my buyers' list.

Today's stats:

- 1st website = 12 visitors to my site

- 2nd website = 6 visitors to my site

- 3rd website = 2 visitors to my site

- 4th website = 2 visitors to my site

- 5th website = 29 visitors to my site

- 6th website = 7 visitors to my site

- 7th website = 0 visitors to my site

And of the 56 visitors 8 subscribed...bringing my total number of subscribers on my freebie list to 212...which reminds me that I need to look at both my buyers' list and my 'freebie' list to determine which subscribers on my 'freebie' list are on my buyers' list so I can remove them from the 'freebie' list (assuming they used the same email for both)...

I don't know how I could've forgotten to do that but I did...but I think I need to maybe look at Aweber help or contact support to find out if there is a way that this can be somehow automatically done...if anyone knows how that can be done using Aweber please let me know...

As for what I did today it wasn't much...I emailed 27 new website owners and reconnected with a few that I emailed in the past...

And today I got to thinking that another thing I should be focused on is taking a very close look at my metrics for traffic, links clicked in my messages, etc.; I haven't been paying very close attention to that stuff like I should...

In fact I'll probably do it tomorrow since I'll be out and about the majority of the day...so I can take a closer look at my metrics once I get home since I won't feel like doing much else. :p

So tomorrow I'll post my stats but as far as I what I do for the day I wouldn't expect much lol.

It's really great following your journal here. You're doing an amazing job and working your way to success. It's a real motivation for me following you with your process, so thank you very much.

Here's a video to automatically move subscribers from one list to your buyers list :

Got in very late yesterday (or I should say early this morning) so didn't really get a chance to post what happened yesterday...

I got 1 sale of product #1 yesterday. So that brings my grand total to $198 and the number of subscribers on my buyers' list to 10...and thanks to fellow warrior Congrats for providing me with that video on how to automatically unsubscribe buyers from the 'freebie' list once they sign up to my buyers' list.

Yesterday's stats:

- 1st website = 15 visitors to my site

- 2nd website = 4 visitors to my site

- 3rd website = 2 visitors to my site

- 4th website = 2 visitors to my site

- 5th website = 31 visitors to my site

- 6th website = 6 visitors to my site

- 7th website = 3 visitors to my site

And of the 63 visitors to my site 8 subscribed...

As for what I accomplished yesterday...I didn't do anything unfortunately.

Yes I am...not direct links to my affiliate links...I send them to a page that reviews the product in detail...and I don't send messages that strictly promote the product...the messages have content then an endorsement for the product...

You look like you may smash your goal if you continue growing like this. If you hit your goal you MUST create a WSO and i would be the first to buy it man.

I definitely have no interest in creating a WSO...sorry.

Plus it's not necessary...just read over all of warrior Alexa Smith, myob and JohnMcCabe posts about article marketing/article syndication and you will have the information you need to get started...not to mention if you PM Alexa and John with questions they are usually pretty helpful...

And the ebook that Alexa Smith and myob usually recommend purchasing that will help you with your article syndication efforts is 'Turn Words Into Traffic'...I've got it and it's a pretty good ebook about how to actually "write for syndication"...although it doesn't go into great detail about approaching potential syndication partners (at least in my opinion it doesn't)...

Likewise, another ebook that's often recommended by other warriors who are into article marketing/article syndication is 'The Content Cash System' by Paul Myers...I can't say anything about this ebook because I don't have it but others have highly recommended it...

What I could do (when I have the time and inclination) is I could try to compile links of important WF posts about article marketing/article syndication, email marketing, etc. in a specific order to help you out...but it will be a lot of information to absorb and it could be a bit overwhelming...I know it was for me.

And the most important factors that what I'm doing hinges on are:

1. That you have create articles that are interesting/entertaining, informative, and that brings fresh information and/or a spin on old information...in other words the article can't be a boring read and the same old, same old you can read in other places online...

2. Also, you shouldn't be promoting anything in your articles, and your resource box/byline shouldn't be "salesy"...if your article has done it's job (getting people interested and to believe your credible/know what you're talking about) all you would have to do is mention your website and they'll just go to it without being blantantly told: "go to my site at..."

3. Don't approach direct competitors to publish your articles...for example, if you're in the wedding planning niche you should avoid approaching website owners/publishers in that exact same niche (occasionally a few might say 'yes' to syndicating your articles...but the vast majority will say 'no')...

That's not to say never approach direct competitors BUT you should maybe approach direct competitors after you've exhausted all the other possibilities...

So instead approach website owners/publishers in niches that compliment your niche, i.e, if your niche is wedding planning approach publishers in the wedding flowers niche, wedding dress niche, wedding photography, etc.

Think about who your target audience is and try to get your content in front of them on websites and in publications you know they're likely to read.

4. Email marketing is about setting and meeting/exceeding prospects expectations, and getting them to open your emails...

Great tips that Alexa Smith gave me were to be totally upfront with site visitors about what to expect when they opt-in to my list, i.e., being upfront about how often you will send email...that you will make product recommendations to them but that these products will actually solve their problem, while being upfront about the fact that you get a commission if they buy through your affiliate link but it won't cost them anything extra...

And Alexa's biggest tip for having subscribers continue to open email is by ending the previous email with a "cliffhanger" that can only be answered/solved by reading the next email...think about cliffhangers for TV shows...it's basically the same...you watch an episode and it ends with some kind cliffhanger that makes you want to watch next week's episode...

5. And as an affiliate I should avoid trying to "sell" to my subscribers and that I should be "pre-selling"...there is a big difference...

I hope this helps you and doesn't confuse you, and that you understand my rambling...my apologies for how long this post is too...

Really good news today...I made 2 sales of product #1...so I made $36 today and that brings my grand total to $234...and I now have 12 subscribers on my buyers' list.

Today's stats:

- 1st website = 41 visitors to my site

- 2nd website = 5 visitors to my site

- 3rd website = 6 visitors to my site

- 4th website = 0 visitors to my site

- 5th website = 29 visitors to my site

- 6th website = 17 visitors to my site

- 7th website = 2 visitors to my site

And of the 100 visitors to my site 13 subscribed.

Today the 1st website owner published 1 of my article and she got back to me on my 11th article and said she would publish that 1 on Wednesday.

The 3rd website owner published my 11th article without telling me (got a Google Alert) which is fine.

The 5th website owner is publishing another 1 of my articles tomorrow, another 1 on Thursday and the 11th article I sent them they want to publish next Tuesday.

The 6th website owner is publishing 1 of my articles tomorrow and will be publishing 2 more after that but isn't interested in my 11th article...

And the 7th website owner isn't interested in my 11th article...the 2nd and 4th website owners haven't responded nor published my 11th article so I'm assuming their probably not interested in my 11th article...

Moreover, my 11th article hasn't been approved by Ezinearticles yet...not certain why...maybe they'll just be slow in approving this article???

As for what I accomplished today...I reconnected with a few website owners...I got a few responses to emails I've sent and there were no takers for my articles...and I created 3 new messages for both my autoresponder series...not my most productive day I know...

Started thinking about why I haven't got a sale of product #2...I'm not certain if it's because I don't have enough subscribers on my buyers' list, my messages aren't effective (even though all the subscribers are reading and clicking on the links thus far), too big of a price jump between product #1 and product #2, and/or if they're not interested/convinced that product #2 works or is even necessary...but I think I'll give it more time before making any changes...

No sales today.

Today's stats:

- 1st website = 36 visitors to my site

- 2nd website = 2 visitors to my site

- 3rd website = 6 visitors to my site

- 4th website = 3 visitors to my site

- 5th website = 49 visitors to my site

- 6th website = 28 visitors to my site

- 7th website = 3 visitors to my site

And of the 127 visitors to my site 16 subscribed...

As for what I accomplished today...I emailed 32 website owners...I created 2 messages for both subscribers' lists...and I reconnected with a few website owners that I've contacted in the past...

So nothing too exciting today...

I was able to pick up the 2012 copy at my public library. Maybe you can check out a public library near you before purchasing a newer copy.

Unfortunately no sales today...again. :p Can't wait for the time to come when I have at least a few sales coming in each day, every day.

Today's stats:

- 1st website = 59 visitors to my site

- 2nd website = 2 visitors to my site

- 3rd website = 5 visitors to my site

- 4th website = 3 visitors to my site

- 5th website = 41 visitors to my site

- 6th website = 22 visitors to my site

- 7th website = 2 visitors to my site

- 8th website (owner wanted to wait a few weeks to publish my content) = 37 visitors to my site

And of the 171 visitors to my site 22 subscribed.

As for the 8th website owner they published 1 of my articles for the first time today and will be publishing 3 more to include my 11th article...I don't know when they'll publish the next article because they publish their own content and the content of others...they do so on a daily basis but they publish the content as they want/need it...

Forgot to mention that my 11th article was approved by Ezinearticles yesterday...

As for what I accomplished today it wasn't a whole lot but...I emailed 20 website owners...and I created 1 email message for both my lists...

A few people I emailed got back to me but the replies were either 'no' or that they wanted "unique" content that hadn't been published on my own site or any other site...

Another thing that I'm noticing is that I'm starting to get a trickle of search engine traffic from long tail keyword phrases...a few of which are kind of nonsensical but a couple that are actually very targeted...but most of them I think are one-offs...the kind of keyword phrases that might get searched once or twice a month best case scenario...

But for the most part I'm not depending on search engine traffic...to be honest I haven't even bothered to optimize my site for search engine traffic...so if I do get any search engine traffic I'll just consider it a bonus...

In the past I used to go out of my way to get search engine traffic to my site but this time around I'm not doing that...I found search engine traffic to be too volatile and unpredictable...not to mention the constant rule changes...for the time, money and effort I invested into search engine traffic I just feel it's not worth it...

Not to mention my niche is fairly competitive...not ultra competitive...on a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being the hardest my niche is probably a 5.5 or a 6 for most of the keyword phrases worth targeting...but honestly I can't be bothered with SEO traffic...maybe in the future when my site is more established and I want to build on the success I'm having with the site...

I started back in September...and I'll have the months of October and November to get to $1500...not to mention I set my goal that high to kind of force myself to get things done...if I had set a goal of $100 or $200 it would've made it easier for me to slack off I think. :p

Now the thread challenge of $500 by October 1st that I started at the very end of August was definitely overly ambitious being that I only had the month of September to set everything up AND get to $500...I only managed to get $54 of the $500 during that challenge...

But this current challenge will include the $54 from September...and currently I'm at $234 of my $1500 goal...so I may not hit the $1500 but if I hit $500 or better yet $1000 I'm happy...as long as I'm moving forward and making progress.

The idea of the challenge is to stay motivated, be held accountable and so others can get the same motivation by my small successes even if they decide to do something completely different than me which was evidenced by fellow warrior seonutshell in this thread:

http://www.warriorforum.com/member-c...challenge.html

Plus I've gotten some pretty good tips from other warriors in this thread so that's a help and benefit for me...

Good news today...I made 2 sales today for a total of $36 which brings my grand total to $270...and I now have 14 subscribers on my buyers' list.

This is very good being that I didn't do much of anything today as far as work is concerned... :p

Today's stats:

- 1st website = 53 visitors to my site

- 2nd website = 0 visitors to my site

- 3rd website = 3 visitors to my site

- 4th website = 2 visitors to my site

- 5th website = 64 visitors to my site

- 6th website = 19 visitors to my site

- 7th website = 0 visitors to my site

- 8th website = 26 visitors to my site

And of the 168 visitors to my site today 19 subscribed...this brings my grand total of subscribers on my freebie list (not including the ones on my buyers' list) to 249.

As for what I accomplished today it wasn't much...I contacted 20 website owners and that was it. I spent too much time surfing around on the internet, watching YouTube videos and looking around the WF...I was looking at a lot of threads that didn't even pertain to what I'm doing now...

I even went to the SEO section of the WF even though I already mentioned that I'm not going to be focusing on SEO...and after reading the threads and posts in that section it has reaffirmed my belief that I won't be focusing on SEO...if I get traffic to my site from the search engines I'll just basically view it as a bonus.

I'm thinking Monday I'll start sending letters to the owners of sites that I really want my content on and where it's clear that they get a lot of traffic to their site (or at least appears that they do)...

Not having a whole lot of luck with email as of late but I'm going to keep sending emails to website owners and reconnecting with the website owners I've already sent email to...

As far as finding website owners to contact I'm really starting to run out of potential syndication partners to contact...but I'm going to find new ones to contact by expanding the keyword phrases I type into Google and maybe using keyword phrases that might not be quite as targeted as I would like...

I can't tell you how many good thoughts, vibes and wishes I'm sending your way, Brit. Very best of luck!!

Thanks Alexa...but really all the thanks go to fellow warriors like you, myob, JohnMcCabe, tpw, and all the other warriors who kindly share information about article marketing/article syndication...

I wish I had started A LOT sooner with article syndication and list building...I had been reading about list building for years but never put forth any real effort with it (even though I saw more success with list building than when I didn't do it)...and I'd been reading about article marketing for several months (I'd known about it for a couple of years but didn't do a lot of reading on it) but still didn't do anything with the knowledge...

I'm so glad that I'm taking the plunge now and seeing some pretty good results to start...I hope to improve upon it as time goes on.

Again thanks Alexa and thanks to the rest of the WF article syndication proponents for so generously posting in the WF.

Got 2 sales of product #1 today...so that puts my grand total to $306 and I now have 16 subscribers on my buyers' list.

Today's stats:

- 1st website = 44 visitors to my site

- 2nd website = 1 visitor to my site

- 3rd website = 2 visitors to my site

- 4th website = 2 visitors to my site

- 5th website = 58 visitors to my site

- 6th website = 32 visitors to my site

- 7th website = 0 visitors to my site

- 8th website = 39 visitors to my site

And of the 178 visitors to my site today 20 subscribed...bringing the total on my freebie list to 267 and as I mentioned above I now have 16 subscribers on my buyers' list.

Today websites #6 and #8 published 1 of my articles on their site today...and I got some replies from emails I've sent out...11 replies to be exact...all of them except for 1 said no...so I've got another website owner/publisher in syndicating my articles...3 to be exact starting Monday.

As for what I accomplished today...I emailed 23 website owners and I created 1 new email message for both autoresponder series...so I got a little accomplished today...

whoohaaa... way to go!! Really good to see you making sales.

Can I ask you a question? How long does it take you on average to send out 20-30 emails? And how do you know the sites you have emailed before? You send out more then 600 emails right? Do you filter each url to see if you mailed them before?

Thanks,
Victor

To be honest it varies...because part of the problem is finding suitable websites to send emails to...that can be time consuming...

Some days I can find many websites to send emails to right away and other days I really struggle to find 20+ websites to email...but on average it seems to take 3 or 4 hours...

And because I email site owners through Yahoo Mail I can easily search my email to find out if I've emailed a particular site before just by typing in their email address...

Hey brittlesnc,

I'm not sure where I found this link, but I had it saved as a bookmark. It may help you find some syndication partners depending on your niche. The link is kind of old, but hopefully you can take away something useful from it.

Got another sale today...so that brings my total to $324 and now I have 17 subscribers on my buyers' list.

Today's stats:

- 1st website = 31 visitors to my site

- 2nd website = 0 visitors to my site

- 3rd website = 1 visitor to my site

- 4th website = 0 visitors to my site

- 5th website = 47 visitors to my site

- 6th website = 23 visitors to my site

- 7th website = 0 visitors to my site

- 8th website = 33 visitors to my site

And of the 135 visitors to my site today 12 subscribed....

As for what I accomplished today...embarrassed to say that I basically wasted the day surfing around on the Warrior Forum and watching a bunch of videos on YouTube...so I basically did nothing...

But I'm going to get right back into things tomorrow...just didn't really feel like doing anything today...

Excellent news today followed by a bit of bad news today...not only did I get 1 sale for product #1 for an $18 commission but I got a sale of product #2 for a $67 commission!

So that brings my grand total to $409...and I now have 18 subscribers on my buyers' list!

Today's (Sunday) stats:

- 1st website = 24 visitors to my site

- 2nd website = 0 visitors to my site

- 3rd website = 3 visitors to my site

- 4th website = 2 visitors to my site

- 5th website = 36 visitors to my site

- 6th website = 19 visitors to my site

- 7th website = 0 visitors to my site

- 8th website = 26 visitors to my site

And of the 110 visitors to my site today 13 subscribed...

As for what I accomplished...I planned on creating the letters and sample articles that I will be sending to 10 website owners I would like to contact via snail mail, and I planned on doing my regular tasks, i.e., emailing website owners, creating new messages for both my autoresponder series, etc. BUT a few things happened...

First, I didn't wake up today (Sunday) until the afternoon, I watched a football game, and then my boyfriend took our dog for a walk and when he pooped he pooped out a lot of blood so we had to take him to the emergency veterinarian that was an hour away...

And because they were busy and handled priority cases first we were there awhile...he had X-rays done and was examined (will get blood tests done for him by his regular vet tomorrow, i.e., Monday)...and they were able to rule out him swallowing a foreign object that was caught but they seem to think it's hemorrhagic gastroenteritis (HGE)...

Anyway, we got medicine for him and it's going to be treated...but my day was shot because it took us an hour to get there...we got there at 5:30pm and didn't get out of there til 11:30pm (they were just that busy)...and to end our "perfect day" (*rolls eyes*) we had to wait for AAA because my boyfriend left the car headlights on and the battery died...

Didn't get a jump from anyone else because all the other customers had come and gone and the employees didn't want to give us a jump with their car for some reason (grrrrr!)...but finally we were able to head home almost around 1am and got home around 2am...what a day!

Sorry for going into detail about what happened but I figured it would explain perfectly why I got nothing done today...

2 days in a row of nothing getting done...it will definitely be time for me to get back to work tomorrow...

Hey, you're doing great with this. Don't worry too much about the occassional unproductive days, especially if it's to take care of your dog or something important like that.

What's the point of buildng leverage into your business if you don't take some time off, right?

Good job on your goal.

Looks like your averaging $23 a day since this thread started, I figure your daily average for your goal is $26 per day, so your basically right on target from the start. Starting out is the hardest part in IM.

Keep in mind those traffic sources you've been working on the past couple of weeks will still get sales/subscribers this time next year & the year after, etc... as long as your links are still live on other peoples sites.

I agree...I want to turn what I'm doing into a business as opposed to just a J-O-B so you do make an excellent point.

Keep in mind those traffic sources you've been working on the past couple of weeks will still get sales/subscribers this time next year & the year after, etc... as long as your links are still live on other peoples sites.
And thanks for dropping by and commenting on my thread Yukon...I credit you as the main warrior that got me to realize that there's more traffic out there than just Google and search engine traffic...

Not to mention reading many of your posts was the inspiration behind trying to go with a long term business based on quality and giving people what they want as opposed to putting out more crap to clog the internet with...

So thanks for all the quality posts you've made to the WF over the years...and thanks for always telling it like it is even when it's not necessarily the 'popular' thing to post on the WF...

Good news...I got a sale of product #1 today...so that puts my grand total to $427 and I now have 19 subscribers on my buyers' list...

Todays' stats:

- 1st website = 22 visitors to my site

- 2nd website = 1 visitor to my site

- 3rd website = 3 visitors to my site

- 4th website = 3 visitors to my site

- 5th website = 29 visitors to my site

- 6th website = 17 visitors to my site

- 7th website = 0 visitors to my site

- 8th website = 20 visitors to my site

- 9th website = 7 visitors to my site

And of the 102 visitors to my site today 9 subscribed...

As for what I accomplished today it wasn't a whole lot (got up late again and ran a few errands throughout the day) but I typed up the 10 letters and the sample articles to go with them (actually didn't have to type up the sample articles...so it wasn't too time consuming) and I sent them off today to the 10 different website owners...

Today I also reconnected with some website owners I emailed in the past...got some replies to emails I've sent in the past and as usual they either weren't interested or they wanted 'unique' content...

I answered a few questions that a few website owners had about how it would work and there were 2 that were kind of on the fence about it...don't know whether to push the issue with those 2 or whether to let them come to their own conclusions about syndicating my articles...

And I had almost forgotten about looking into finding the most recent edition of 'Writer's Market' (since mine is from 2005)...so I called up my local library to see if their was a recent copy available...the most recent ones they had were from 2011 and 2009 but they were both checked out (my library is a small local library)...

However, they said they could order an edition from another library if there was 1 available...I decided against though for a few reasons:

1. Not quite ready I think to contact offline publications (although I'm sure most of them have an online component)...I'm a bit intimated by contacting offline publications right now so I think I'll do it a little bit down the road...

2. Postage costs...as it is I spent almost $15 to send the 10 manila envelopes with my writing samples...I'm on a tight budget so contacting via snail mail website owners that I'm interested in having syndicate my content AND offline publications I want my content syndicated to could start to add up as far as postage goes...so for now I'll just stick to website owners...

Update on my dog (his name is Smokey):

He's doing much better today...my boyfriend talked to the vet today and told the vet what's going on with Smokey and the vet said that it probably wasn't necessary for Smokey to come in today, that and she wanted to see what effect the medication would have...

Then my boyfriend discussed some other issues with the vet and in her opinion it sounds like 2 things are going on with Smokey at once...the HGE thing AND she seems to think that Smokey may have a food allergy (since he's been having stomach problems off and on for a few weeks...we took him to the vet 2 times during those few weeks but the vet couldn't find anything)...

She doesn't know specifically what the allergy is but food allergy tests would be very expensive so she recommended that we try to figure it out by testing his different dog foods (we buy him different varieties of dog food, i.e., beef, chicken, lamb, venison, etc. but it's usually the same brands)...

So Smokey is doing good today...even yesterday he was peppy and didn't seem sick BUT it freaked us out that he pooped out blood yesterday even though he wasn't lethargic and didn't act sick yesterday we still took him to the emergency vet...and we will be taking Smokey to his regular vet for a follow up on Wednesday...

Wish Smokey luck you guys.

I don't have access to a copy of Writers Market, but I think that most online and offline pubs accept email submissions these days. You could try searching Google for trade magazines in your niche and looking for submission information on their websites.

Ok, I have a question for you. How are you handling the promotion of your products? Do you only promote product #1 to the freebie list and #2 to the buyers list, or do you also promote product #2 to the freebie list once they've been exposed to the first product enough times? Are you looking for more products to add to the sequence? How many exposures will each product get before promoting something else?

Also, it sounds like you aren't writing any emails specifically to pitch the products, but you are just writing extra articles and pitching the product at the end of every few emails, is that right? What might that look like?

It will be interesting to hear the results of the snail mail letters.

In answer to your questions...

Yes, I only promote product #1 to my freebie list and product #2 to the buyers' list...

At this time I'm not looking for more products to promote...although I did consider promoting a 2nd product to my buyers' list...but for now I'm going to hold off on it because I'm not convinced that it's a good fit/relevant product for my subscribers...that and I wanted to see if I could even sell product #2 (which is a good fit/relevant) to my buyers' list before introducing another product...

As far as how many exposures...I'm not certain how to answer that particular question other than to say that I will be promoting those 2 products for the foreseeable future until I go looking and find something else that's better for my subscribers but at the same time still provides me with a decent commission...

Warrior Alexa Smith (I know I sound like a broken record constantly referring back to her but she's really knowledgeable about this stuff) has mentioned to me that she has autoresponder series set up with 200+ messages that each go out every 4-5 days promoting the same handful of products...and that when subscribers get through all the messages it just starts over from the beginning of the autoresponder series...I plan on doing the same...

Also, in the majority of her messages (I think it's the majority) she likes to have a link back to her site not only to provide additional information/content but to get her subscribers in the habit of clicking links inside her messages...I'm doing the same...all of my autoresponder messages have a link back to a page on my site...whether it's to more content and/or the page on my site that is reviewing the product I'm promoting...

Plus another reason to have clickable links in your messages is because it's a better measurement of your email open rates as explained by fellow warrior Shaun OReilly in the following post...who by the way is very knowledgeable about email marketing it seems:

http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...ml#post7326445

And as far as pitching the product in emails...the only time I ever really sent out an email that could be considered a promo was when I followed up 2 days after the subscriber gets their freebie but even in that email I reminded them about how they can get their freebie if they haven't gotten it already...

But I still provided a bit of content but stated that if they want more info, faster results and need more answers that there's a product that I think would be ideal and then I point them to the review page on my site of the product that explains the product and lists the pros and cons of the product...

However, thereafter I send out messages every 4 days with content...

Some of the messages have a sentence at the end of the actual content provided in the email that encourages/reminds them to click thru to the link to my site's review page of the product I recommend...

Alternatively, in some messages I just provide some content and a link to my site that goes more in-depth/provides more info related to the content provided in the message...the subscriber clicks thru gets more info and then at the end of the article on my site I encourage/remind them to click thru to the link to my site's review page...

I usually keep stating something like 'if you haven't checked out the review of the product I recommend take a look' or 'if you need a reminder of why I recommend X product please check out the review of the product'...anything along those lines...

Also, I end every message with a cliffhanger/preview/teaser of the next email in the sequence so it keeps my subscribers continuously reading my email (as Alexa recommends)...

I'm not saying/implying that what I'm doing is the best way or even a decent way to do things but I'm seeing a little success with it...but sometime in the future I need to start testing things to see if I can improve...for now I'm just going to keep going...

Ultimately I think you're going to have to do a bit of reading of posts by knowledgeable warriors about email marketing...warriors such as Alexa Smith and Shaun OReilly and to go with your gut about what you do in terms of your messages...at least in the beginning and until you get some data from your experience...

I was lucky to see a little success almost right off the bat but that may not be the case for you...depends on a lot of things I think and your subscribers will be different from my subscribers so what works for me may not work for you...

My apologies if I'm assuming that you're asking me these questions because you want to try it yourself when you could be asking me these questions more out of curiosity than anything else...

Thanks alot. I've been reading posts by Alexa and other article marketers for some time, but I simply have not been motivated enough to try it out except at a small scale. I that small scale has allowed me to build a small list and make a little money, but not much, so I wanted to to get your advice becauses of the success you are seeing with this challenge. I've already asked Alexa some questions similar to these in a PM and got her response.

I know it isn't Syndication, but have you thought about this.

The websites with large traffic that say no, you could maybe offer them a guest post of the same quality as the original article you sent them. For example if they get 1k hits a day, it may be worth your time typing up another article soley for use on that one site.

As a door to door salesman, i find it hard to take no for an answer. Its called objection handling. Actually i would be really interested in seeing your contact email, or at least the close? Is it assumptive enough?

If they say no, ask them why not, and if its the duplicate content excuse, i would say something along the lines of

" Ah yes, i have heard that quite a bit recently, what with the new updates liking original content. When i spoke to people like yourself, they felt a lot happier accepting a Custom written unique article for use on there site. I take it this would be a better option for you?"

Something to ponder
