How do I track http AND https?

Hi,

my default URL is http://www.domain.com

my checkout URL switches to https://www.domain.com

Most goals are being triggered, but the referrer gets lost - 90% of conversions are contributed to "Direct" (which is definitely nut true).

What is the easiest way to properly transmit tracking data from http to https?

  • It depends on the kind of tracking.

    If it's search-based tracking, I strongly recommed you use the Google Webmasters Tool. Create both the WWW and Non-WWW site profile.

      Make sure your tracking application is installed on secure server, otherwise it will not be able to track data when your site serves a secure web page.

      Also make sure that you have configured your tracking scripts to use protocol relative URLs so that you are not loading insecure content on a page with secure protocol enabled.
