Launched Couple Weeks Ago: Any Tips or Ideas to Growth Hack My Startup?

Hey Guys!

I am looking for ideas or any advice You could give for my new startup - Infograph.ly - infographics in 60 seconds - Automated Infographic Generator.

We are giving free try accounts for early birds, that's how we get signups right now. Promotion is done through Email Marketing, Forums and little bit of social media. Most of users come from email and forums.

Our aim is to get paid users as this is Software as a Service startup. So we will close free accounts soon.

We think to try make some case study on how to use such infographics. Right now they are really good for social media promotion and seo.

I hope You could give some ideas, how we could grow and get paid users! Also we are planning add subscription soon.

You could setup an affiliate program and/or offer commissions for referrals. Then go and contact established IMer's letting them know of your offer.

There are could be a lot of potential customers that don't need 50 infographics per month. You could offer a lower priced option, e.g., 10 infographics for $20 and 1 year membership. This way they're not as time limited to complete their purchase.

I have a question - how do you go about images & graphics ?

From what I've played with the tool, I have to create my own graphics (otherwise it just looks like a plain web article).

Most successful infographics have custom designs that explain very clearly the value they're offering.

Do you believe you can automate this ?

And regarding your question - try some PPC as well to see the "buyer" keywords in your market. (maybe something like "create professional infographics fast", you know best)

All images are from articles of how-to, but user can edit and add your own content/data/images. Backgrounds and colors user can change from available. We will add custom background soon.

We started with content under creative commons license "HOW - TO" content for marketers. Because there are a lot purposes, for example social media sharing and SEO. We tried Facebook ads, needs to much money, negative ROI.

Well, our main aim is to get on LEVEL , where You can get CUSTOM LOOKING DATA/CONTENT Infographics automatically, not just HOW-TO infographics, yes right now it looks like visualization of an instruction (how-to), but that's our first module, maybe you are right and we made mistake starting with such module, or maybe it is the right one, only we need reach right people. We have over 20+ other modules in queue, but we need get somewhere with this what we have to start growing...

infograph.ly - Pricing <- we have added small account $19, with discount (EARLYBIRDTHANKS) it is just $9.50, should work for those who don't need a lot. Also we plan to close free accounts - is it good decision, how do you WF members think?

I think you're doing some interesting things. email, forums, etc are great. Definitely like the idea for smaller packs.

But I think first off, before you get into the tactics of email or forums etc. You need to first figure out who you're trying to reach. Who are the people that are going to use this to create infographics? Startups who want to explain what they do? Bloggers who want to make their blog more engaging? Designers who want to create infographics to sell and make money from?

Nail down who your ideal user is - and go beyond just demographics, to what they care about. Dany Iny has a great blog post and template about this: Customer Profile Template (Downloadable PDF Worksheet)

Once you've figured out who your ideal user is, and you know what they care about, what problems they face, then you'll be able to reach them effectively. Create lead magnets that solve their problems. Write blog posts and emails about things they care about. Engage with the blogs and forums that they read. Run contests that relate to them.

But first, you need to really nail down who your ideal user is. That will make the tactics part much easier.

When an info-graphic is created does it have a watermark with your website on it?
obviously anyone seeing it will point them towards you.

Do you offer hosting of the image?
More exposure, if you allowed hot linking developers would also see it in the URL.
