Best way to get traffic for an article?

Hey guys, my Autism support group wishes to create an article on the net offering "prayer" for parents and caregivers of autistic kids and adults. I don't have article [blogging?] experience so I would appreciate any advice you guys can give which may help have some success with this venture.

The blog or article will be a one time thing, just that, an article telling our story and showing our contact info for anyone who needs to have prayer said for them to contact us. So it's not like there will be fresh content, just one article on the web. We would like to reach people nationally or maybe internationally.

Any ideas/suggestions please? Thanks.

Give your article a nice viral push. That in terms of making it available/ the shortened link on various social media platforms like tumblr, facebook, related forus, twitter, pinterest. That is the best way to increase the audience of your article.

Since this is a one-time deal, your best bet will be to partner/network with people who already reach your audience. Think about bloggers on related topics, not-for-profit organizations, parenting support groups, health writers/editors in online and print publications, TV and media producers on health and/or faith based shows.

You're a step ahead of most since you already have a very specific target audience in mind. Once you start getting a bit of traction, you never know where it may lead. Many major shows and outlets monitor the web for content ideas.

To get more traffic for your article or blog, you have to write unique and actionable content that you think readers would love. Then, post your article to different social media channels like Facebook and Twitter, use popular hashtags.

Thank you very much for all of the much needed advice guys. I am putting the content together while trying to assemble a list of keywords and the best title. What I am also trying to decide on is whether to go with a blog or a static ad on SM? Which would be best for this project please?

To get traffic for your article, share your article more than once, you post your article then repost your article so the user who missed it can read your article and use unique content according to your user so they can understand it.

Wait guys, I am confused, is there a difference between an article and a blog ?

Articles must be formal and provide detailed information; while blog post may be less formal than an article.

Try to write a unique article, then share on social media like Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and so on to get traffic.

Many times you can use the terms article and blog post interchangeably.

A blog, on the other hand, is a site on which one puts blog posts (and collateral pages).

Setting up a blog site for what you said was going to be a one-time article is drastic overkill.

Better to have multiple social media pages and post the article directly.

If you do want to go the domain/hosting route, pick ap a basic html template and add your article. It's simple, fast and much more secure than a blog with its multiple scripts and databases, which must be kept up to date to be even reasonably secure. If you choose to add plugins, you add layers of complexity.

Honestly if it were me? I'd write the article out & share on the 10 most popular article websites. Then, get as many friends & families to share it on social media to create a viral effect using a good headline.

    BUT

Most importantly i'd use the article as a mere template to outline a series of videos together to put on youtube & do the same thing... Share on social media. But having a narrator, which can be you & have someone using a smart phone nothing fancy, & have the people themselves share atleast PARTS of their story.... thats something that could go viral with the right sharing on social media.

Best of luck! I used to work with high level needs autistic teens all the way to adults for 5yrs. So this one touches home personally. Lemme know if theres anyway i can help! Thanks

Appreciate both your advice which I will utilize and your kind offer to help Sam. I also very much appreciate you working with Autistic teens. I myself am the father of a 17 year old autistic son and we both have been to the pits of hell but it was "prayer" which helped us and since I can identify with the struggles and hardships of parents with this situation, I want to help them.

I am finalizing the page content, should have it ready by tomorrow then I will need to reach as many people as I possibly can by taking the advice of everyone here and trying to do what has been advised. If you can help us reach people in any way then yes PLEASE do as lord knows we will most certainly need the help! Thanks.

Whoa, I now have a ton of info from all of you guys here, thank you very much! Far as facebook ad goes, I had created a page for our "resources" support group here mid last year or so:

    https://www.facebook.com/Specialneedsresources/

The traffic has always been minimal and sparse so I am guessing that one simply cannot create a page and that's all to it. I try adding a link a couple of times each month just to put something fresh on the page but aside from posting links to other relevant sites or info, what else can I do on facebook itself to increase viewership please?

Why not create an engaging and emotionally impactful landing page? If you're serious about this, you should have a bigger plan than just an article... an article/blog pieces are just a way to drive traffic or attention to your main message page which is normally a single page or a landing page... have social "like" buttons, a lead magnet, a video, and a compelling story... with a captivating headline... build a list ... build a community!

Nowadays, unfortunately, you'll have to do more than just an article... and yes, at some point you'll have to invest in paid ads... depending on how serious you want to achieve your goals.

I think you should try and invest in MORE than one article, but I think email outreach would be the best way for you to get traffic. Just contact previous people that shared similar content.

With regular social media, you will get results but it will take a while.

But no matter what method you choose, it takes work regardless.

This is a great idea. I have never come across a method like this in all of my travels on this subject.

I would recommend setting up a tool like HootSuite, joining some LinkedIn groups, and sharing across those groups with every article that you write. This will drive instant traffic to your post!

Here are some pointers to keep in mind while creating and marketing the article -

    1. Create a quality content article with high-resolution images and add back links to your article redirecting to your site.
    2. When published make sure it is shared on different social media platforms, relevant groups and forums. Re-posting the article is also important.
    3. Schedule the post on social media platforms using bufferapp or hootsuite by checking the best time of traffic generation using analytics of social media.
    4. Optimize on-page SEO.

    Hope you find this helpful!
