Where would a product review site get quality backlinks other than paying for them?

I've been gaining some slow traction with social media but I was wondering if you had any different suggestions for backlinks for a product review site? The answer I keep seeing is "guest posting."

Thanks

Perhaps you can give away the products that you're reviewing and get links from sweepstakes/giveaway sites.

Create some free PDFs and post them on document-sharing sites.

Also, if you can find some forums that are fairly active, then posting regularly will get you some more traffic.

Classified ads can also work - again, you need to post new ads every day.

Free ways to get good quality backlinks:
    1. Directories, especially Startups directories
    2. Social networks: Inbound, Pinterest, Stumbleupon, etc (Many of them provide NoFollow links but google count them as valuable)
    3. Forums, links in profiles
    4. Comments in relevant articles (Use Ahrefs or similar service, find backlinks of your competitors, choose blogs, publish comments there)
    5. Doc-share sites (Pdf, presentations, infographics)
    6. Guest Posting
    7. Ask product owners of reciprocal links
    8. Create own bage or raiting that product owners can share on their sites
The first six ways of getting links are enough for many cases..
