A super easy way to do this and get super legit numbers is to go to the usps.gov website and then find the "Business" button along the main top link bar, then scroll to "Every Door Direct Mail" then select the neighborhood in question. This will give you residential count in addition to commercial counts.

    Hope that Helps!

maybe i did not identify my question correctly. i am not interested in the no of people living in a neibourhood but number of people who are visiting a certain point.
for example starbucks in location A might be having higher no of visitors compared to location B due to several factors. but i want to determine the comparision crowd and foot traffic.

You can easily compare and analyze anything you want, provided you have access to the relevant data. But, if you don't have the data, there is not much you can do.

This is why data is extremely valuable. So, your question shouldn't be about "find out crowd statistics", as your title suggests; it should be about how to get the data you need.

If you can post the exact problem you're trying to solve, instead of posting hypothetical examples, maybe we can suggest a solution.
