Does anyone here use content syndication to drive more traffic to their own sites?

And how does this work exactly? I read another thread, a while back, that recommended content syndication as a way to rapidly grow one's subscriber list. But how would that work? For example, if all this traffic is going to the other online publication that has picked up one of your past blog posts, how does that translate into more subscribers for your blog? Why would they want to subscribe to it when they can get the content elsewhere?

Hopefully a link back to the original content is included in the syndication

What your looking for is touch points back to your site, the more out there the better

This is how you get access to new prospects, you just need to make sure you have some touch points back to your sites

How does this differ from blog commenting?

"the other online publication that has picked up one of your past blog posts"

the post is about a topic
blog commenting is a response to the post generally not as in depth

so if someone is curating your content the curating site should give credit to the original source

this is how you have touchpoints created, it's a natural occurring backlink to your site

this does two things for you

a way for traffic to find you

this backlink helps with your offline SEO for ranking in Google

I've been reading more and more about content syndication lately. For anyone else who's following this thread and would like to know more, I came across this fantastic article that not only talks about what CS but also how to go about it (e.g., it includes a sample pitch letter): Content Syndication: The Definitive, Insider's Guide - BuzzStream.

      Thanks for the share.

Content syndication is powerful when one know what's he doing and this process can be widely spread and put on complete autopilot through syndication networks.

If you have a lot of good content and put this piece "content marketing" tactic up to speed, which part of a good inbound marketing strategy you should spread yourself wildly as well
