Deals with bloggers / influencers: flat sponsorship vs percentage

For paid product promotion (in my case a B2B SaaS) what have you guys found to be a better fee structure? I'd expect sponoring to be higher risk, percentage deals to cost more if successful.

Are there any alternative / creative deals one should consider?

Barter system, yes it still exist. You can collaborate with influencers in exchange for a service or product that you have. This is what I've been doing and it been doing great.

      Barter system is good thing.
Either you can offer free product, xyz payment or something like it.

I'm on both sides of this spectrum (Influencer and advertiser) and I mostly do flat fees the first time I purchase from a new seller. Make sure to pay quickly to establish that you are a serious buyer and push on the fact that you will buy more in the future if the promotion is successfull.

A percentage deal/sponsorship should only be used with trusted influencers that you have history with to make sure neither party gets screwed over or left unsatisfied.

I run contests that Influencers participate in to launch new products or market Apps. I use contest software to get influencers signed up and manage the content they create for the contest. I typically get 200 - 2,000 influencers to participate in the contests by offering a reward of $1500 to $5000 depending on the product and amount of engagement i want to generate. If im engaging 2,000 influencers, i up the reward amount. Conversely, if i were to pay 2,000 influencers to post content for me on an individual basis, i would have to spend over $100k. And that's if i pay each one only $50... good luck with that lol.

From the established pro blogger side I only offer a flat rate. Other bloggers may do the percentage thing but from my experience I find the best matches - and vice-versa for the advertisers - by offering a one time rate that they pay, then they have a permanent link on my blog.

Deals with bloggers are really good advertising, the only downside is that they may incorrectly submit advertising, but black advertising is also a promotion.

I feel flat rate is easier to offer and for them to accept. Helps build a relationship faster too.

Definitely would recommend a Ryan Holiday book: Trust Me I am Lying - hard to imagine better material for this topic (but need to say I am not very experienced and have just a few things to compare...)

I think it mainly depends on the product / service you have. If you're selling sofas they will probably be willing to take it in exchange for a post but for lower value items they always want straight cash in my experience. Commission from a coupon code is the best case imo but I think genuine influencers who will take that deal are hard to find.
