Befriend other folks on Shutterstock by promoting them. Share high quality photos. Your Shutterstock buddies promote you freely, giving you great exposure.

Pinterest would be one obvious way.

One major advantage of Pinterest is that its half-life is much better than other social-media. Twitter half-life (the time before a post loses half its effectiveness) is a few minutes, FaceBook is a few days, Pinterest . . . over 2 MONTHS !!

Make sure you understand that every Pinterest Pin you create yourself is a LINK, so it gets direct visitors, and helps SEO.

So, create a Pinterest account for your images, create at least 10 Boards, and make at least 10 rePins (of other people's images) on each, and get some Followers (Follow others, and Pin your own content regularly). Then join the biggest suitable Group Boards you can (find them on BoardGroupie), and keep Pinning your images . . . look at the most popular Pins in your niches, and see what they are doing and do something similar.

Make sure your Pinterest account is "business" (it's still free), so you get all stats. You could try paid ads for your best-performing Pins.

I think it's better to use many tags for your photos so the more views you'll get.

Using Many tags for single photo is really a great idea but, there should some limit while tagging, don't exceed the limit.

An agency is there to do all the promoting. Good keywording is in stock is the best and only promoting you can do. I don't believe that people seeing your photo on facebook will only look at your photo and buy a license. Instead they will use the complete database. In stock people buy what they are searching for and not buy what they get offered in front of nose. This is against the whole concept.

You can promote your portfolio by posting it on Facebook or Twitter. In gallery section, you need to customize your image and place it on FB or Twitter. And there you will find the link under the Promotion section.

You can also develop your own website where you can also link your SS portfolio.

Im assuming you have images.. and right now as it pertains to images you should be hella hitting Instagram - I would follow some of that up with Pinterest.. I would then get comfortable with Social media and then go at LinkedIn and target those that would use your images and not just all in yo yo yo I got photos.. you need to come in with stats of how a advert with an image converts better.. how an image can segment market reach by demographic etc etc... be smart about it.

    Hope that Helps!

It is difficult to promote it better than them, and even when you success directs someone to your portfolio in SS, you are actually directing him to SS website, maybe he can pay for one of your images, but then he will keep searching for other images at the site, not in your portfolio. The best way to do this is to create your own website to sell your own images, but it doesn't work so well today especially with big amount microstock agencies offering cheap content, the best you can do to increase your incoming in SS is keeping uploading content and improving quality of content.

Good keywording. I think that's the only thing we can do from our end. And make sure all your photos are of high quality. Attracting won't help you if the end product is not good.
