How do you guys promote your blog?

Hi there, just being curious and searching for some underused strategies to promote a blog

Almost everyone tells about the importance of SEO, social media (including running ads), but I want to try more unconventional approaches and experiment. So for example I added myself in some communities on Slack where I could share an article from my blog.

Do you guys have any other non-cliche ideas for blog promotion? Paid ideas are also fine, as long as they bring value.

There are multiple ways. Sometimes,it depends on your niche as well. For example, if your blog is about lifestyle, home, design or simply areas which are more popular among women. I say go for Pinterest. Don't forget to add hashtags though and popular keyword.
Creating a profile on Quora and providing valuable answers to the community could be quite beneficial. Just put your blog link with some persuasive question in your description. Having said that, traffic from there is not an overnight thing. It takes time and one has to spent considerable time. Once your posts start getting views, then good things happen
Yet another method getting even more popular is medium. Write a catchy article, put your blog link in the body, so intrigued readers click on that.

Just my two cents. There are certainly dozens of other ways ,if you don't want to go for the regular SEO route. All the best.

It's not exactly under-the-radar, but have you explored guest posting? (some of which costs $; some of which is free to do). There was a thread here a few weeks back examining different tactics there if it helps:

Forum posting is still a decent tactic.

Some people consider it 'oldschool' but it gives you an option to drive both traffic, as well as build relevant links at the same time. It also gives you the possibility to network.

As they say, 2 birds, 1 stone.

Repurpose your content and share it on multiple platforms. You can take excerpts from your blog post and use it as a pdf or slide share to get more traffic. You can set up a auto responder and drive traffic to a squeeze page then give them weekly updates of blog post or blog post ideas. You can set up a Facebook fan page as well to build awareness as well

You can republish your evergreen content over and over again on your social channels.

You can do a "round up" post by connecting with other bloggers in your niche and asking them a question or their opinion about the topic you are writing about. This will get them to share it on their social channels or site too.

    Here is a few tips:

    A) Set up a syndication network - Use IFTTT and so every time you post a new blog post it would be autu syndicated to platforms like Twitter, FB, Tumblr etc.

    B) Republish you best content on medium.com (Remember to go to advanced settings at set up the URL that the content was originally posted on so you avoid duplicate content (it would set a cononical tag on Medium.

You can also go for facebook ads, but you have to pay for it. It will be a waste of money if you are just starting out.

In my case, I started with Facebook. I created a Facebook page and used Facebook ads as well. What I did was, I created a Facebook page which was related to my blog and started targeted ad campaign. I spent around $50 for ads. Facebook ads are more effective and targeted.

So,I've decided to build my audience on Facebook. After a week, I've gained around 1500 followers on Facebook. The Facebook page I made was also getting organic traffic. I used a simple cover image and a catchy description.

The best part is I could create a lead magnet for my Facebook page and get more subscribers.

Tip: Create a landing page for your Facebook page. You can create a lead magnet and get more subscribers.

Oh, email marketing, for sure... offering exclusive content to sponsors, reusing or converting blog content into youtube videos, and featuring infographics and posting them on image sites really help too. of course, when I'm really desperate, I go the paid route. Facebook PPC, Google paid ads, WebTrafficGeeks where I buy targeted website traffic, you know that kind of stuff... Those are just the bonus stuff, though...
