best hosting service - Help!

I am recently using hostgator, and it is a complete nightmare. You have wait at least 30 minutes for a live chat support. This is ridiculous.

Can someone recommend a different hosting service?

Go to "Web Hosting Talk" and have a look there , there are several that are very good.. To be honest waiting 30 minutes for support isn't bad.. some hosts take days to get back to you.

You could try bluehost .. they are getting a good rep

NO! BlueHost is owned by the Endurance International Group, as is HostGator. Stay well away from that group entirely.

OMG.. You mean all these hosting providers are also owned by the same company that owns Hostgator? Hostgator has become more and more shitty.. Receiving more and more downtime recently, and support took 30mins at least every time, regardless of day or night.. I will definitely be switching at the end of current contract..

But I will be transfering my main sites, leaving only one site behind, which is the one that is promoting them..LOL.. no choice, becoz I still need to have a hosting account with them if I want to promote them.. Rather contradicting..

As the person who started this thread said, Hostgator is a nightmare! Be aware if you are a new customer it will ask you for proof of ID so be prepared to send a scan of your passport or drivers license to Texas!

HG is my hosting but I have not had too much problems with them, yet. It might depend on the level of commerce you are working through them. I actually got away from them and went to GVO for a while. I would a agree with a previous comment that they were pricier than most. Also, GVO did not offer that suite of tools that HG offered however. Just another PoV.

NameCheap hosting and domain registration has worked for us for many years. Great support, even nights and weekends if stuff hits the fan. Great prices too. Much better than than anything EIG owns (Hostgator, BlueHost+8 more) or Go Daddy for sure. Hostgator and BlueHost were actually down for more than a few days each of the last 2 years. Unacceptable.

Last support ticket I submitted to HG did not get answered. I had to go on live support to actually get some help, and 30 minute wait there. They use to have great support.

But even phone support now takes for ever. Sure don't like sitting on the phone waiting for 30 minutes or more

    Why hasn't anybody mentioned Godaddy?

It's good and reliable AND, did you know, going with a MAJOR hosting company is better for your SEO? (Slightly)
(Don't believe me ask Matt Cutts from Google)

    Robert C.

p.s. They also have great service. Online chat and you can call 24/7

pps. Also, registering for more than a year is better for seo too

Maybe I've just been lucky, but I've been with Hostgator for almost 10 years I think and never really had a problem. I've had to wait as long as 30 minutes too I think, but that's not bad. I just open the chat window and have it running in the background while I do other things. It makes sense that as they grow, support will get slower (I'm not saying it should, that's just usually what happens with a lot of companies that are trying to keep up with fast growth). But really, is 20 or 30 minutes, or even an hour all that bad? People in some other countries don't even have running water half the time. I'm sure many other hosting companies have great service, just haven't had much experience with them...but I bet if their company experienced huge growth in a short amount of time, their support would suffer too. Statistically speaking, it seems impossible for every single person (with any company) to receive perfect, instant service 100% of the time. You might get it once, or a few times, but I can't see everyone receiving instant service all the time. It's a numbers thing. Sure, they could hire dozens and dozens of more people for customer support and everyone would have perfect service, but what would happen? Prices would go up because they have to pay those people too, and then people would be complaining about price. It's a fine line between offering the best customer service you can while still being able to keep prices competitive. So I'm saying if you go with another company, it may be great for a while, but at some point I would expect the same situation and you're back where you started.

Threads like this always feel like the Twilight Zone.

Hostgator is garbage, as has been for 18+ months now:
    - http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...s-traffic.html
    - http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...-all-down.html
    - http://www.warriorforum.com/internet...hostgator.html
    - http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...-want-out.html
    - http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...-hour-now.html
    - and many, many more complaints, on this forum and others. Facebook and Twitter, too.

I have no idea why people still suggest that in 2014. It's terrible. It's not even the same "Hostgator" anymore, not since summer 2012, and is nothing more than an EIG brand now. There are better hosts.

    Also don't use:
    - Godaddy
    - Yahoo
    - 1&1
    - Dreamhost
    - the 50+ EIG brands, including Hostgator, Bluehost, Justhost, iPage, Fatcow, etc

There are much better options out there.

I changed from Hostgator to WiredTree VPS hosting. Beside the 100% up-time, I also notice a double speed boost compare with hostgator.

So yes! move away from them!

For shared hosting for WordPress or other content management systems, I would check out Nexcess. If you're in need of more resources and are looking for a VPS, I would check out WiredTree or Future Hosting. Cloud VPS, Atlantic.net and Digital Ocean are worth considering. Like others have said, avoid EIG owned companies if you want to avoid something similar to your current situation.
