Annoyed with Hostgator

Well, Hostgator is a terrible EIG owned host.

However, what you describe is generally not hosting-related. You have a security flaw in your WordPress install. It could be plugins, the version, or a theme. Have you secured it with htaccess?

I just use default wp theme and donot add any plugin shared on other website. I have disable the file edit for theme and plugin, this may be caused by a server backup.

Some of my sites are still on Hostgator and I agree the quality has come down, but missing data doesn't have anything to do with them. Uninstall the plugins and check. You might also want to install a new version of WP.

I've been with them since day 1 of my hosting and have been very impressed.

  Oh, dear - this cannot be the case for much longer. BlueHost is also owned by EIG (the Endurance International Group). All the companies they own are headed in the same downward spiral.

Hostgator lost authority since years ago.
Try Arvixe, they had better customer service and similar price.

Also, I don't have any problem with Hostgator at the moment, but yes their customer support is not great as before, an email takes 2 days to reply.

Have you tried updating your WordPress site? Also try changing security information. Update plugins and you can also try deleting and uninstalling excess unused plugins.

So sad about Hostgator, I have been a loyal customer for years, until I encountered th same problem like affiliatez did, where hours of hard work just disappeared off my sites. I fought quite hard with them and they landed up giving me a free month of reseller hosting, but in all honesty my hard spent time was worth a lot more then a months hosting. If you're looking for a good host, I recommend Dreamhost, they have always been good to me.

The number of people just keep jumping from EIG Brands to EIG brands, recommending switching from Hostgator to Bluehost and not having a clue that they're the same corporation, Arvixe is also EIG Now, JustHost

I've been using hostgator since 2012 and never had issues with them. I don't know what you guys are saying. Even when my site got a malware, they removed it without my notice and informed me later. That's a helpful server for a miserly $26/mo...
