aMember VS WP Wishlist

I'm thinking of getting a membership script but I'm tied between both of these.

Honestly, I think I wanna get WP Wishlist but I wanna know what you guys think.

My needs:
- I need to use this script on more than one site (so Wishlist's multi-site license is handy)
- Drip content (wishlist again is handy)
- Secure ( i hear that amember is more secure?)

Any opinions?

If you use wordpress as your platform I would suggest Wishlist for ease of use

I know where you are with this buddy!
I'm in exactly the same place. Deciding which membership model to use is a "head scratcher".

I've been looking, reviewing and testing feed back for a wee while. As I see it, here are the questions and my thoughts:

Website or blog as the platform?
Which is more secure is the question I am interested in. Can wordpress provide the same security as a website can?

I think yes (with a good WP programmer and the right addon's).

Which is the easiest platform to use?
I think most people would agree that WP is easier to use (especially for the non techie gifted webmaster) than a website. Once your script is set up, anyone could take over and run WP professionally.

From a website point, GLGuard, Memberspeed and one membership are the best of what is out there (from my investigations).

    GL Guard:
GlGuard is a script which can go on two sites for the one price. It is a one off payment. It is not just a membership script, but more of a secure place to keep all your products too.

I like this very much. Good review, established company, very secure. Excellent price.
I also like this because you can use your membership website to supply any number of other sites/membership sites. (Although each site you feed products too will need its own domain).

    Memberspeed:
Memberspeed is good looking. Comes from Gleason and Hodkinson, both of which are extremely well known in the IM world. They both know there stuff.

It looks and sounds awesome. Definitely one of those "it's all been done for you" membership site scripts. Looks super simple to use, with lots of video how to stuff.

You can only use it on one website (which I don't think is fair based on the price). However, you can of course up date to a licence, which allows you (at a cost) to add more membership sites.

You have to pay a monthly fee (and it's not that cheap ($50-ish per month). I do like it, but the continuous price per month is a negative factor for me.

    Onemembership
One membership also looks good. A monthly fee ($30-ish), and comes with some good support. They are fairly new, but I see some good reviews floating around cyberspace.

    Membership on the WP platform.

The only one I see ready to use (without getting a programmer to start from scratch for you), seems to be wishlist.

Russell Brunson (another respected IMer) is selling this hard at the moment. I have to say it looks good. He has provided lots of videos describing what it can do, without obligation to buy.

Wishlist also comes with a single licence or a; "as many as you like" licence. The price of both seem very reasonable to me. I like what I see. It works very easily.

How secure it is as a membership site script I do not know (remembering that you will have secure content you don't want people having access to for free).

    My Conclusion:
I think they all provide what a membership site needs. How skilled you are (or your webmaster) will determine which one you go for.

GLGuard is the obvious choice for me. Why?
I don't need the help and support that the other 2 provide. I don't want to pay a monthly fee for a script/software setup (and I say it respectively). And I have a webmaster (as all busy IMer's should have) who can do the techie stuff for me.

If I were brand new with no skills but a desire to be up and running with a full business and membership site very quickly, I think I would go for Memberspeed. Why?

Simply based on the suppliers. Both of these people know there stuff. Both are top warriors, and have access to the best programmers. They have money to spend on programming, and updates are not a worry for these guys. But as big IMer's, expect to be hit with more like minded stuff from these guys! (said respectively of course).
What am I going to do?
I'm going to buy the multi licence of Wishlist from Brunson. I'll use it for micro sites (Brunson does the same), and see how it goes.

I'm also going to invest in GLGuard for a website version. They come with a good pedigree (and the price is not enough to worry over). I'll then test and use both.

GLGuard will be the main holder of all secure content and do its own things, while wishlist (to start) will go more tightly niche based, and see how it goes.

I'll keep the post up dated (as I get the time) to keep any interested warriors abreast of my progress. But for a quick answer, I'm suggesting Wishlist.

I hope that shines a tiny bit of light you're way. Only trying and testing for yourself, with your niche ideas will guarantee you the perfect recommendation, and I'm off to try it for myself right now!

Good fortune and great success to you in your endeavours.
    I wish you the best.

    Sincerely,
    John Adams

Well, I am also going through the same process.

I own DLGuard and while I use it to protect my downloads, it's also a great product to build membership sites. I've built a test membership site and it works very well. I was able to easily build the incremental delivery of content and downloads. Sam Stephens is a Warrior here and is very helpful.
DLGuard - Download page protector, create expiring download links (not aff.)

I am looking into affiliate management software and ran into Rapid Action Profits, which also has a membership module that looks very promising.
RAP / Member Plus (not aff.)

    HTH!

...And there's me thinking I had made my mind up!

Thank you procoach for the link to RAP: RAP / Member Plus

That does sound very good (and more cost effective than wishlist).

Thanks also to vrkarthick for the 2 suggestions.
Memberwing is also looking good. Seems well established, and it's been around for a while.

amember - - not so sure!?
I did not really like it the first time I checked it out (It's quite new, and it doesn't seem to do as much as the others). HOWEVER, at the moment it seems we should all stay away from there?

According to Google they are a threat. You might wish to check it out yourself. But be careful ok, especially since there are better membership scripts about.

ummm. Now I'm not so sure. For me it's between RAP and Wishlist (although I'm not sure if wishlist is workable on websites)?

Anyway, decision needs to be made soon. And thank you for the recommendations, suggestions and feedback.

      Nice one!

    Hi John,

WishList only works on WordPress blogs; as I understand it RAP / Member Plus works on both (I haven't bought it yet).

well guys, I went with WP wishlist and it was pretty good and I liked it more than aMember.

    Thanks for the inputs guys

      Nice one procoach!

I'm of the same mind. I think wishlist is only for WP too.
From what I can see (and I've spent a few hours checking reviews), RAP and Wishlist are as similar as you could get (I think)!

Yes I agree that RAP has the edge if you want to work with websites as well as WP. In my case, I'm looking for just a WP membership platform. I think I've already decided to use GLGuard for websites.

My hunch says I'm going for wishlist. Why?
I like the video how to. I like the fact that's it's from Brunson.

They have hidden nothing from what you get, what it does. And a full complement of videos (which you get to see beforehand), so I'll take my chances there.

At the end of the day that's all you really can do. Research as much as the brain can take, get a feel for it, and trust your gut feeling.

Thanks also to Desmond Ong for the input.
I see you have gone for wishlist too. Let's hope its "great minds think alike", and not another 2 fools spend their money!!

Keep your feedback coming with how you get on Desmond Ong. I'll do the same. It's always nice to show some real proof to help fellow warriors.

Wishing you great success. Now I'm off to spend my money.

RAP is an affiliate software and with the membership script, I don't think you can drip content like you can in wp wishlist.

The best combo I think would set up a wp wishlist site using RAP (without the membership addon, but with the paypal sub addon) to keep track of affiliate sales.

    Just my $.02.

Wouldn't you know it?... You think wrong.

The RAP Member Plus Add On does, indeed, provide for drip-fed content, based on # days after purchase.

That's great actually! If someone ends a subscription will RAP freeze the account from getting more dripped content?

        Thanks in advance

          Of course!
Not only will they NOT get more dripped content... they won't even be able to log in to get older content.

Ok guys. Here's my take about wishlist: (I got the multi-use license)

    - Easy to handle
    - Friendly support
    - Able to drip content (actually learn how to integrate this feature from Russell Brunson)
    - Quite easy to integrate with AWeber and Paypal.
    - $300 for multi-use license (gotta be the most worthwhile membership script)

I've used amember pro before in another project and was disappointed with its ugly interface (maybe it's just me) but wishlist has a pretty decent interface.

If you want to use WP, please go with Wishlist. It's the best imo. (but it can't lock down directories like amember though)

Never tried amember. But i did buy wp wishlist.

And although it's a powerful software, the code is encrypted and you can make 0 changes to it; for example to the forms or to the back office.

I needed to make those changes and just couldn't. I then asked for my money back because the software just did not meet my needs. But I missed the 30 day garantee by 2 days.

And although they saw me struggle with the software for like 3 weeks (i kept on asking for help and they kept on telling me " not possible to change this or that"), they told me i could not get my money back because i asked for my refund 2 days late.

So wp wishlist was a sour purchase indeed.

I've had pretty good luck with these plugins:

WordPress Affiliate Platform Plugin - Simple Affiliate Program for WordPress Blog/Site | Tips and Tricks

I've used his Store plugins both for digital downloads and physical products. The download link is protected, I couldn't find a way to get to the actual download directory except through the encoded link.

He also has a nice WP Theme that you can get included in some of his bundles. The owner lives in AU and is pretty fast to respond to questions.

John, you might be on to something! The developer you've pointed to shows that a "simple" Affiliate Program and Shopping Cart with Protected Content Delivery is possible. Please share your experience in a dedicated thread
