Which hosting providers do you recommend these days?

I am on Godaddy Managed WordPress Hosting From Past 5 months and Never had a problem with them. Site Loads fast. Customer Support is excellent.

Godaddy always have discount offer for cheap price but are they really good? I've never bought hosting from them, just domain

  Yes! In the past few years godaddy only consider as a good domain registrar. But after using them I must confess that they really have improve their hosting platform.

They sure kept that secret. That's bad news, but thanks for letting me know.

Arvixe is the latest addition to that portfolio, and there is a sound reason why you didn't even know Arvand was considering it (I sure didn't know): in order to make Arvixe an appealing sale, it had to retain its customer base. If word had gotten out that EIG was interested in purchasing Arvixe and that Arvand was going to get bought out, the savvier customers would've wisely packed up their bags and left because they were all-too familiar with what happens to a hosting company acquired by EIG.

In the process of moving sites over to Veerotech. The most important sites I own are already move there. Each week my web site builder moves 2-3 sites away from Hostgator.. Namecheap has also been recommended on this forum.. Good luck with what ever you choose .

  For the last 3 months or so I've been with A2Hosting. It's not owned by EIG, and they have really fast SSD servers,with lots of features. Customer service was good during setup, although I've not needed tech support for anything after switching my CPanel to them. You probably haven't tried their support lately. Takes at least 30mins to 1hr+ nowadays for live chat. Other companies have almost instantaneous live chat.

Do you think it's because of many people are waiting in the line to get their support so It takes time to get your turn?

Or there is no one waiting in the line but still have to wait for 1 hour?

No, it has nothing to do with the number of people - years ago, HostGator was able to provide support without issue. Once they were acquired, the support rapidly declined. This is typically how acquisitions go with EIG - right after they move everything into their own overloaded datacenters. All you have to do is a simple search regarding recent issues with them in the past 3 years to see what's been going on...steadily going down hill.

I don't have any experiences with Hostgator but I did some chat supporting from Bluehost and Fatcow (all from EIG group) and I think they're quite good. Even I bought the smallest package from Fatcow, they still supported me quickly and gently. Btw I don't care much about support, all I care are server speed, uptime guarantee....

It's depressing how these threads fill with recommendations for companies like FatCow, Bluehost and Hostgator, offered by people who haven't yet realised that they've all been taken over by the dreaded EIG conglomerate, whose business model seems to be that of taking over perfectly decent hosting companies with good reputations, relocating them, removing most of their support staff and rapidly turning them all into unreliable customer-service nightmares.

If anyone wants more up-to-date information, this very recent thread will probably help.

Their datacenters have been offline multiple times, for hours and twice now, for almost an entire day. You must not monitor your sites very closely. However, the site in your signature promotes the very same problems hosts being discussed here, so of course you wouldn't have any problems right?

It's sad however, the affiliates only worried about making their high commissions are still partly to blame. For example, you have people right on this very forum complaining about HostGator scamming them out of commissions. What's the solution? Promote the SAME COMPANY that's scamming them through an alternate method like Commission Junction...where's the logic in that?

EIG is owned by venture capitalists, and always has been since they couldn't cut it as a host years ago as Bizland. Venture capitalists are worried about one thing, profits & nothing else, hence why every single company gets liquidated once acquired. Unfortunately, the most recent acquisition of Arvixe will be short lived, it's only a matter of time.

Actually I have 2 Amazon niche sites hosted on Bluehost and I don't see any problems till now. Maybe I don't monitor all day long. So which brand do you recommend me? I don't know much in hosting industry. Please give me some names

I personally think that they're recently having so much problems that the number of people asking for support has overwhelmed their support team. My recommendations now are NameCheap and WebHostingBuzz. Both have reasonable prices and very good support.

I have always used Hostgator. Have never had any issues with them at all. Depends on the level of traffic you will be receiving, that may necessitate you using dedicated hosting etc.

For VPS i can recommend digital ocean.

All VPS there come with fast SSD and you can choose data center locations.

Also you can install nginx, ruby on rails, node.js and all the good stuff, starting from $5 a month!

Personally I use Godaddy for the whole enchilada (domain and hosting) it might not be the rock bottom on price but they are competitive enough for me and I can talk to a real person anytime I call. I screwed the pooch on one of my hosting setups yesterday evening (Christmas Eve) and sure enough I got right through to a techie and they had me back up and going. To me that is worth paying a buck or two more....

I use www.a2hosting.com

Customer support is great. Service is great. It is fast. They have backups that allow you to rewind up to 30 days which is pratical if a hacking occur or if I mess things up. The backup is free.

It is the hosting I recommend to my clients.

The company also come here to answer questions from time to time.

I would say any hosting that has 24hr customer service that you can call and talk to someone.

Okay so I still see a lot of people here and around are using hosting from Godaddy or EIG without any complaints. Maybe they are just personal blog and they do not have high expectation about their hosting quality. Or they are just looking for a cheap hosting provider to test their project so they might find them useful.

As I'm using Bluehost for my small Amazon niche site. It has very less traffic. Here is my website uptime stats (checked from uptimerobot.com)

I can tell you which one certainly not to use.

1and1, TERRIBLE support. It used to take ages to get issues fixed. wouldnt recommend my enemies.

heres something worth noting though.

I bought my domain name from godaddy. I bought my hosting from hostgator.

godaddy called me personally to thank me for my business and make recommendations, the guy spent a good 45 mins on the phone with me, discussing what others do in the IM niche. I was thoroughly impressed.

I have used hostgator support once, and it took about 10 minutes of waiting to get to the chat. godaddy hosting is not there yet on the same parallel as HostGator, but they are working towards it, and as a sales professional myself, I really respected the phone call, it was a welcome addition in the normal noise of emails and chats, and the guy was not pushing anything either.. I was IMPRESSED.

I think Godaddy is only good for domain. I'm not sure about their hosting but I don't rely much on hosting from big domain providers. Some years ago I used Hostmonster (now they are owned by EIG, not sure about at that time) and it's quite good for me too

In Advertising Forums section select Web Hosting Offers. Then select "Offers" section you are after. Find a good deal and investigate a company offering it. I always do this way and have never looked back. Hosting company doesn't need to be big, it just need to be good.

I've been using hostgator for hosting and namecheap for domains for 4+ years.
I had one problem with hostgator, sent an email, problem solved.

So far no problems with this combo of mine.

I've used a fair few, including most of the well known names such as Godaddy, Hostgtor, and Bluehost. I've still got sites hosted on each, but now any new sites I make go straight into the Bluehost account. They're admin area is awesome, plus a free domain for a year, and unlimited domains per account is ideal for those who own, or plan on owning, many sites.

If your budget is not an issue, get a dedicated server. You can easily research which is the best for the money, and you can ask any of the more successful marketers you may have access to through Facebook or Skype groups, etc.
Once you have a dedicated server, you can virtually forget about hosting problems.

Live support is there always .
this is the pro side...they will give support instantly.
If live support cannot managed to fix ...they will refer to advance support where they handle more difficult issues....
Reply will be around 10 mins at most.

This is what I like as the support is there and always there..
I do know some host ..the support have to wait dam long...to get reply , fix..which I don't like.

overall the site is running ok.

I moved to SiteGround recently for my WordPress hosting.... What I like is they do many things to keep your account secure that other hosts overlook.... without making it hard to use.... This is great for newbies... It keeps them from shooting themselves in the foot...

Some hosting companies do things that are real "head scratchers" like allowing account logins without SSL and sending passwords in emails.

SiteGround is not that expensive... They have a $3.95 per month limited time offer right now... Once that is over, it will be $9.95 per month.

Whatever you do stay away from Hostgator. However, from what heard they just finished some Christmas shopping to give customers a "better" experience. I'll hang on to them for a few more months to see if they really are interested in keeping their customers....after that maybe I'll go for Arvixie.

Hands down either HawkHost or StableHost. They are both non-EIG hosts, which I don't blame you from wanting to stay away from at all.

They also have lots of extra features available in their cPanel.

Sigh...Arvixe is EIG now? It's like when asmallorange or HG was acquired, you knew it would ruin their once good names.

Doing my own digging I have come up with a few decent hosts:

Stablehost
Mddhost
Hawkhost

All those are mainly for shared hosting.

Beyondhosting
knownhost

Those two are for anything beyond shared hosting unless you need a super high traffic cloud.

I would go with beyondhosting, personally. Even though I'm not a customer (yet) they've always been prompt with responses and i have many friends who swear by them. Not a single negative thing heard about them.

Wiredtree is also a possible option, more for VPS than anything else. You get what you pay for in quality, however, so don't expect the latter three hosts to be sub-$20 options.

I have been using HostGator for a year now. I have an image based blog/website. I've only experience 1 downtime while I was with them, I contacted them and they said it will be down for just an hour. Fortunately the website was still surf-able but it had a warning at the top of the page saying that the webpage was loaded from latest stored cache or somethin. But you can still see all the past post entries except the ones posted on that day. When the downtime ended everything was back to normal.
Other than that, I am still pretty happy with the service. They migrated my website for me from godaddy to gatorhost with no extra charge. (from shared to dedicated) And had no dramas.

I'd recommend you use a VPS from A2hosting.com and QHoster.com.
They have stable servers which are supported well and their uptime is high.
Tech staff is active for 24 hours.

Im a big fan of nexcess. Its a little more expensive than some of the others, but in my opinion you get what you pay for. I switched one of my client sites over and their load time was cut in half.

For me HostGator is best and I am using them since 2007/08 and I have so far no problems with them. They are best and provide so many features which you might not find with others.

Also their customer service always available online so you can get instant help rather then waiting for few hours which I really like.

It depends on what you're looking for. For Magento, WordPress, and shared hosting I would recommend Nexcess. For VPS, I would recommend Future Hosting. For an AWS alternative, I would recommend Atlantic.net. I would avoid EIG owned companies, mostly because I feel like boutique hosting providers who have been around a while offer a better level of service and support.
