[I'm sick of it!] - Products that SAY they're responsive, but they're (clearly) NOT! Here r 2......

If these items were originally "in development" for quite a while,
how come it takes me only 20-minutes to figure out that they're
(just plain) BROKEN?

And yet somehow the developers slap a big 'ol "FULLY RESPONSIVE!" badge on it,
and offer it up for sale, with a straight face.

Here are my 2 most recent purchases (in a lonnnng series of purchases)
of products that *incorrectly* claim they are responsive.

1) "LocalBox" WP theme, by Sean Lowery.
4/5 of what the theme offers, is the prominent SLIDER.
Theme CLAIMS to be responsive.
PROBLEM: The slider is NOT responsive.

So... the sites produced using this theme, look like crap on mobile phones.

(Therefore) - BOTTOM LINE: Product is unusable.

2) Instabuilder (yup - THAT Instabuilder)
PROBLEM: At least two major "elements" that can be
added to sites using this "builder" (it's a plugin),
are NOT responsive...

Photos/images added using the drag + drop "image" element,
are NOT responsive (!!!). Plugin DOES "shrink" pics properly left to right,
but does NOT shrink pics TOP to BOTTOM (warps/distorts pics,
and does not maintain aspect ratio - when viewed on mobile device.

Also, when "nav" element is used (strip of clickable menu items), that's
NOT responsive either. Does NOT (as it should) turn the menu into
the familiar 3-4 line icon that then turns into a drop down menu.
Instead, all the plugin does is the *wrap the menu around* so it does NOT
look right (turns into TWO LINES of "scrunched up" menu items, not even centered) when viewed on mobile device.

(Therefore) - BOTTOM LINE: Product is unusable.

My overall point is, how can these and other products CLAIM to be "responsive,"
when it is crystal clear, in very basic ways, they are just plain
NOT responsive!

Who do they think they are kidding?

You know what responsive means, I know what responsive means. So how come
these product creators are hoping we won't notice that their CLAIMS of responsiveness,
are FAULTY + BOGUS?

    Hi Timothy,

I just copied / pasted the instabuilder "problem" to IB facebook group. They will release updates and they were out several weeks so I guess they would fix it. At least I hope so.

    Check out also thrive themes.

      Thanks.

      My point still stands...

What's broken (read: what *I* have discovered that is broken, after having used it for ONE DAY -- there my be many more things that are broken, that I haven't YET discovered!!!) with Instabuilder is SO VERY BASIC, that there's no REASONABLE explanation as to why it wasn't already known by the developers BEFORE it was sold at all!!!

Either they were extremely UN-diligent in their testing of it, OR they sold it even after knowing it was broken is such a BASIC way.

Who do they think they are? -- Microsoft?!?

I fully agree with cjseven. Checkout the thrive theme. They are focused on conversion. I did not see anyone focusing their efforts to create an theme which help the sites on conversion. They even delete the sliders in their theme because after testing they have find out that it distract the user from the content and website owner does not able to create the impact and make them click on the buy button or any other button. Thrive themes are also come with full developer 's right. Their new Thrive lead plugin and TCB is outstanding from the view of an technical newbite person. I hope that I am not sounding an advertisement for them hahahaha lol.

Try a theme builder/framework. That way, IF you know coding, you are in full control of the result. It's slower, and you run into problems, but the end result can be more satisfying if you really need a certain look.

Some of the top commercial frameworks:

          1) Genesis
          2) Headway
          3) Ultimatum
          4) Elegant Themes
          5) Builder

Make and Gantry frameworks are free and also good, but with free, you know they cannot be as good as the paid ones. I'd look at the WordPress frameworks as you get to customize way more, and won't get stiffed by claims of "responsiveness". All frameworks are responsive now.
