Engine Themes Review
In this post I'm going to point out the reality of what dealing with them is like and show customers are far from happy and being deceived. It's sad to watch these people, who have had their hopes dashed and all their hard work being in vain having to sometimes wait weeks for ineffective answers. Sometimes they don't even get a response, as you'll see below.
They probably do have real reviews for their free one page wordpress theme, one engine, which is a single page wordpress theme, but for their wordpress directory theme, their wordpress classified theme, and their job board wordpress theme they are blatantly fake reviews. One guy spotted that it was a fake made in photoshop or something, and just one look at the support forums for those themes will show they are so full of bugs that people are just buying these themes and spending weeks and months working on them only to get nowhere. In no way, shape or form, are there thousands of happy people using their themes in the real world.
I asked had anyone actually successfully launched an job board in the real world and no one actually had, save one guy who had a few free jobs who put on their himself and who had misunderstood my question.
I asked them for proof and they can't provide it. They just ignore what's not convenient for them. I bought 4 of their themes straight away because they look decent, and I thought the reviews were real.
I wasted months with their themes and many hundreds or £'s and got nowhere and my capital run down. They are ridiculous and should not be putting them out.
You only need to go to their help and support forum and all you will see is frustrated people who after weeks or months trying to sort out bugs can't go live.
I worked on 4 sites and just had to abandon them. Random colour changes, content disappearing and reappearing in different places, so many other things. Their themes are just unusable.
I'll highlight some of the main problems people are facing below, particularly with their shambolic support and contempt for their customers. They are more interested in bringing out new things and chasing money than in making sure their current stuff works.
Some of the main issues faced:
* No reply to tickets or posts in support forum.
* No reply to vital issues in over a month where the person has had to give up going live
* They are selling more and more plugins that just aren't working
* Issuing themes that in no way should have been released and aren't even semi-functioning
* Getting messed about and ignored on refund requests so Engine Themes can claim the 14 days discretionary refund period has elapsed and they can hold on to their money.
* Customers posting their complaints about how they can't run a live, working website, their emails are getting ignored, issues not fixed, their time is being wasted and their getting the runaround, major problems and Engine Themes are avoiding refund.
This is the most shambolic outfit I've ever seen. Far from thousands of real, 4.5 - 5 star reviews, nearly every customer is dealing with one or more of the problems above.
If these guys were in the UK or US, they'd be shut down straight away for fraudulent activity.
One positive for me is that I've discovered a good niche for SEO and have more than enough opportunity to recoup my money, try out different SEO strategies, while at the same time getting the word out about this company who put on a good front and get people in, but are selling useless themes that don't work for the most part.
Steer clear.
