Reasonable web host to get started

I'm going to try converting some of my health articles into readable short eBooks. I would like these ebooks to point to my website/blog (I haven't decided yet)

The strength is definitely in the content of the ebooks, therefore I'm not quite sure whether to have a basic website or blog. Which would be more beneficial?

I already have the domain but I am looking for a basic host. I've seen a few suggestions on here like one.com and godaddy. Which hosting service would benefit me as a newbie to website/blog creation?

Thanks.

I like Hostgator. Bluehost is good too. I'd avoid GoDaddy if possible. I may be biased, but they always seem to have their servers down when you need them the most. Good luck.

    Hi Dog8food,

Although I don't use a single hosting (have accounts with three) services my main hosting is via Hostgator. I don't have an issues with them and find them reliable.

I tried GoDaddy a couple of years ago as I use them for domain names.........never again!

Why paying so much for bluehost and hostgator when you get quality hosting for less than $10.
    Checkout buyshared.net, nexhost or spaceweb.eu.

Another question: would it benefit me just to go the WordPress route? After all, my site will not be much more than health articles.

Self hosted Wordpress (not Wordpress.com) is perfect for "just a bunch of health articles" ..

And if you are just looking for basic hosting I agree with the above, you can't go too far wrong with Hostgator.

My recommendation is to buy your domain name from namecheap and keep your domain name provider and hosting company separate (it helps if you ever need to move hosts)

i like hostgator with their baby plan you can host UNLIMITED number of domains, for a low price, way less than you pay most places for 1 domain only

tried many of the hosting companies out there for many years and none of them beat hostgator if you ask me, did away with all the others

Have a website and blog all in one. Get a web hosting plan and install WordPress on it.

I don't recommend either of these companies for web hosting. To learn more about web hosting I recommend you head over to WebHostingTalk.com and read through the forum.

I don't understand why people are always showing up in these threads about hosting talking about how great Hostgator is. Do a search on this forum for Hostgator and read all of the horror stories about service and down time since they were purchased by EIG.

    I did a quick search on this forum and here are the reviews from just this year;

    http://www.warriorforum.com/internet...hostgator.html
    http://www.warriorforum.com/internet...-provider.html
    http://www.warriorforum.com/internet...hostgator.html
    http://www.warriorforum.com/internet...or-family.html
    http://www.warriorforum.com/internet...hese-days.html

Do a Google search for Hostgator and EIG, you will see what has happened to what was once a very good hosting company for internet marketers.

So, aside from the fact there are already a ton of similar threads in here, I'll just add this: pick a webhosting company and look for reviews! It's your best bet, seeing how everyone is recommending different web hosting companies and things can get confusing.

Either you have been one of the lucky ones, or you are unaware of the downtime that your sites have experienced. Please read the reviews and really understand what has been happening to Hostgator's customers.

    Stay away from GoDaddy.

Hostgator and EIG so much talk about this lol

I will only go on my own experience with Hostgator which is very good for the past 11 years!!

I was on the phone the other day with support and they stayed with me for 35 minutes and looked at and checked out whatever I asked the guy to do, Great support in My opinion!

Is there any perfect hosting company and how long before you get angry with your new found hosting company?

I will stay with the evil that I know! :-)
