Affordable and reliable webhosting service?

I've got a domain hosting provider already at namecheap.com

I'm not in a rush to get a web hosting provider yet because I have to allocate the time needed to actually make the website but I need a provider that:

1. Allows monthly, NOT yearly payments. $4/month to be paid yearly is NOT a monthly payment plan.

2. $1-4 per month.

3. Great reviews. Great reputation. Great service. Great uptime.

Providers I am considering are:

shopaserver.com (been using them with not many problems....few downtimes and customer service can be weird, but not a big deal....security is not the best...I pay $1 per month per site)
arvixe (used them in the past and have no idea why I decide to not use them anymore)
godaddy (there are some mixed reviews and their monthly payments aren't cheap)
hostgator (mixed reviews and their monthly payments aren't cheap)

    You're not going to find "great" hosting for $1 a month. Scrape up some cash and get real hosting with Bluehost or iPage.

    I use bluehost, excellent customer support and lots of features. They were my first web host and I haven't even thought of looking for a differant one.

    Hostgator works well I would say. Few to none down times, fast customer support. And they are a really big web hosting company

      I use Hostgator as well. Their tech support sounds like they know what they are talking about. The kinda people that read Slashsot on a regular basis maybe.

      My shared plan is like 8 or 9 bucks a month. Not sure how that isn't considered cheap.

    You can't get anything great an good cheap.

    Second, maybe try digital ocean? They're cheap, but a little harder to set everything up, as you don't get cPanel or other administration software, so you need to read their tutorials and follow them.

    There is a warrior forum member here that runs a solid hosting company. Veerotech.net, which I pay $8 monthly for and always receive top notch customer service and have never had any problems with the hosting.

      I find that the excellent live chat customer support offered by HostGator is worth an extra few dollars and its not a large amount of money so the annual payment will not break the bank.
