Has anyone done any courses off udemy? and if so are they worth the money? I hear some people talk about this for many different aspects of online training but what do you guys think?

  There are lots of people that swear by these courses but just looking over some of the reviews they are terrible! I guess people will have different opinions of what is good and what is bad.

  I'm pretty sure it depends on the instructors.
  
  Some of those courses are upwards of $500, which in most cases I'll likely not pay.
  
  But I am part of several courses which were supposed to be $47, $97 and $197 which I got for $15 through coupon and they are all excellent. Especially for the price i paid.
  
  I suck with photoshop, so almost anything related to that would impress me lol and that was one of the courses.
  
  Like anything else, offers on the WF included, though some offers might not be as good there will always be quality teachers who produce quality products. Once you find them, you know who to go to in the future for all of your relevant needs.

Udemy has a low bar of entry for instructors. There is no mechanism in place to help prevent inexperienced instructors from posing as authority figures. I've gone through about a dozen courses there on various topics and found them all to be lackluster. In fact there were always better videos on YouTube for free.

Check out Lynda.com instead if they cover the topic you are interested in.

Good replies on this thread, though I think the most point on one is from heavysm.

It could be that overall, lynda.com has better quality courses than udemy but really, it gets down to the instructor/creator. A great, quality training can be found on any platform, including WSO. You really do need to start looking for the product creators/instructors who do a great job, rather than worry about the platform their trainings are found on.

PS: price point is also often misleading. I've gotten some incredible value from $17 wso's or jvzoo products, while $197 ones were virtually useless.

There's one that intrigues me a lot. It's the one that you can learn to code from scratch. It's the biggest seller. That guys makes millions doing so !

@OP with all things, it depends greatly on WHO you're buying from. Some Udemy instructors are qualified, while many others aren't qualified to sweep my floor. Buyer beware. Do your due diligence.

  There is no blanket YES or NO answer to this question.
  
  Just like any purchase online, it is up to YOU to do your due diligence when deciding to enroll in a Udemy course.
  
  Every Udemy course has / should have these elements you can check out prior to enrolling:
  
  * 5 minute preview of the course
  * Promo video / Intro video
  * Course description
  * Who this course is for / not for
  * Free previews of certain lectures
  * Student reviews / ratings
  * Section & lecture titles
  * Instructor Bio
  
  With all this info, it should be pretty easy to determine if a course is worth the money or not.
  
  Having said that, all 27 of my courses published on Udemy are awesome. LOL!

  I have just paid for 3 courses on java, android and web developing.
  Each one was $10 in the sale (about £6.50)
  
  Now these are very indepth courses that are excellent value.
  
  However if you are talking about the many IM type courses that marketers have put together from various PLR articles and charging in the $100's for it then no they are not worth it.
  
  Simple rule, if the description of the course tells you about the tutor, the content and what you will gain in a straight manner then maybe its worth considering but if the description is like a sales thread in the WSO section with phrases like 'discover my secret method to...' then avoid it like the plague.

I have gone through some courses on SEO. They are very good and you can learn lots of tricks and tips which would be very helpful.
Regarding good or bad it depends on individual person.

I've had mixed results, with some courses worth the cash and some not. However that's also true of WF, JVZoo, Clickbank and pretty much any other platform where authors of information aren't vetted. I've found waiting for one of their frequent sales helps ease the pain of a shoddy course here and there.

I have published about 6 course on udemy. I am not a top seller but receive anywhere from a few hundred dollars to almost 1k a month. Mind you I had not done anything with them for almost a year in Udemy and still receive income. Not bad, all the courses are highly discounted so you can get almost any course for $10 if you know how to find coupon code. I feel like Udemy students have been conditioned to look for a high discount so its not a great market for upsellng. I Have about 12k Students and have been able to use ti as marketing as well to channel students to other programs but conversion rates for higher pay programs is low.

I have done several courses on selling on ebay and amazon.

Some of them have been good and some bad.

I find the good courses have lifetime updates for FREE from the author.

they keep updating their courses to make it relevant to the industry.

Like anything else in internet marketing, once the 'WSO's start showing up about how to make money with "X" you can rest assured that the quality of products, or in the case of udemy, courses has been greatly diluted and now you need to really wade through a lot of crap to find the gold nuggets.

I have found that non internet marketing courses can be fantastic. It helps to research the course provider beforehand of course, but some of them are certainly very educational and reasonably priced.

I've been warned against the IM "courses".

Apparently a "course" means "a bunch of PLR split into 7 different parts".
