I don't want to drop any names in case it sounds like I'm promoting them, but they are a huge domain name company moving into hosting.

I threw a site up with them because I needed somewhere for it to sit and the hosting was 99c for a year in special deal.

I paid a company over a hundred dollars, which I know isn't much, but they couldn't fix a problem with my site and said I would need to put in a ticket.

The company I paid 99c to completed 2 technical jobs over live chat in minutes.

Anyway, I think they will become more popular than Bluehost and Hostgator for hosting, but because they are a very popular domain name company people won't want to have their domain names on the same place as their hosting.

I thought this could be a problem, but figured most of their money would come from newbies who use GoDaddy and don't care about using the same company for both.

Do you think a company can become a powerhouse in both areas where it creates a problem for marketers?

I think you have to give it time to see how things turn out with this new company. Within time we will see how the market responds. I think that using Go Daddy and Name cheap for your domain and Bluehost and Hostgator for your hosting service, still works fine to use.

I am sure the bigger companies are aware of what this new company is up to and does not want to lose market share. So they are working on a strategy on being competitive.

      Yeah, probably.

I don't know much about hosting, but are BH and HG even using those SSDs that are meant to be faster.

This company kills it on price too, but maybe just like it will increase their support will become crap once they 'make it'.

You did actually mention the company btw.

I assume you're talking about Namecheap. I moved a few niche sites there a year ago on a special and the thing that impressed me most what the speed of their shared hosting servers. I had very low expectations and only expected it to be a temporary move. Those sites are faster than they were on my VPS with another provider. And I've had no downtime, which I monitor every minute. I just renewed my hosting with them last week, which I had no intention of doing when I first signed up.

Yep, I was surprised by the speed vs the price of their hosting.

I asked for a refund from company I signed up with as messing up something straight away is only a sign of trouble to come, and I'm going to start using NC for hosting.

Just need to transfer all my domain names out through, but I'm sure they'll make more from hosting anyway.

That's great to know -- I didn't know they got into hosting, and literally just got (2 days ago) my BlueHost VPS and ALREADY want out (I also use another company I've been happy with -- diversify!)! haha

I'll be looking to get out as well -- I'm willing to take that chance on their new service.

    Thanks!

I have used GoDaddy for many things over the past few years. One thing I will say with 100% confidence, I LOVE their customer support. Every interaction I have ever had with them via phone or email has been astounding.

      However,
      GD is overpriced
      GD is hard to use
      GD hosting is slow
      GD gives too little control
GD backed SOPA & PIPA ((((

GD backed one of the most destructive laws ever to threaten the internet. It was only after 50,000 GoDaddy users left in protest that they changed course.

While I applaud GoDaddy for finally coming out against SOPA, the fact is that we can't trust them to protect the internet.

Or perhaps people can stop making threads where they are elusive about what they're talking about. A title like "The New Godaddy" makes it sound like the review is about godaddy, of course people are going to be confused.

There's nothing wrong with talking about a company/product in a positive light within the Review Forum.

Some cause-oriented hackers recently hacked one of my websites. So I researched what they're about and then donated a large sum of money to the entity they hate the most.

The next time they hack one of my websites I'm going to donate DOUBLE.

Well, I didn't start the thread and I wouldn't have used that title, but if you are going to attack and insult someone like you did in your previous post, you should read the post and find out what it is about first.

Can you provide the name of the hosting company? I am looking for one after I didn't renew with Hostgator.
