Best web hosting service?

Just wondering what the best web hosting service is today!

I just registered my new domain yesterday and would like to know which web hosting service I should point it to.

I previously ran with Bluehost and though I can't really say that I was unhappy in any way with their service, I'd like to see what the playing field has to offer.

A good web host to is one that:

- Has a great customer service.
- Has good uptime, like at least 95 %.
- Has an easy-to-use cpanel.

Who is the top dog today?

And what do you think about dedicated hosting versus shared hosting? Obviously the price is a big factor ($6.95/month vs. $105/month at Hostgator for example) but what are the big advantages of dedicated hosting?

Thanks!

I recently tried bluehost and I have to say I really do not like their service...

But I think hostgator would be a good option and I use them for a few sites now.

One of the biggest advantages of dedicated hosting is that you have full control over all the information on your website as well as having a more secure and usually faster connection. You also have pretty much unlimited bandwidth.

I can recommend Stablehost or Veerotech as meeting and exceeding your requirements.

GoDaddy and HostGator are two of the best ones. Both been around for quite some time!

  • We host majority of our stuff on Home - Stratus4, LLC. So far I've been very happy with them - a very swift and helpful support team, reasonable prices and great performance. Recommended! Plus they will be able to find the solution that will fit your needs the best

Godaddy is what are you looking for.
Of course, I'm using it and all good.

  • I would disagree with Godaddy... Their support is somewhat slow and the hosting is quite limited if you will want extra things in the future (if you don't need something special now - it doesn't mean that you will not need it later, and when you will need something - it will be a pain in the behind to move your sites from one hosting to another)

    Friendly tip

The best web hosts are a2hosting.com and ifastnet.com.
They provide plans which are full-featured and prices are competitive.
Support is online for 24 hours and SSD technology makes load speed fast.

Everyone must be having their opinions but for me its A2hosting without any second thought. All the parameters u mentioned, A2hosting scores top on each of them.

HostGator used to be the best but they're arguably the worst now. Do a search in this forum and you'll see. Heck, do a google search and you'll see. I have three accounts with them and have to start migrating all of them. Trust me, stay away from HostGator.

Okay so I've seen a lot of entries and tips from you guys, so thank you! I though that Hostgator was one of the top ones today?

Anyway, I've seen 2 or 3 of you mention Siteground and I've read in 2 reviews that it's the top web hosting service, should I try that one out?

HostGator used to be great. It was bought by EIG. Everything bought by EIG turns to shit.

That's too bad, don't what I should choose really. I just registered at Hostgator today though, got tired of waiting and thinking and they had some special price.

We'll see how it goes, either way they have a 45 money back guarantee so I guess I don't really have anything to lose during that period except for my time.

Ah well, so far so good in any case, just waiting for my DNS to update!

        Happy new year's!

I'm getting a lot of mixed reviews regarding Hostgator and Bluehost, most likely due to the buyout. Is it possible to switch host if I'm not satisfied? I have my domain registered on Namecheap and hosting at Hostgator.

Just want to cover all my exits!

It is possible to switch if you keep backups of everything. The problem is when your website goes down with no warning for 5 days. If you do not have a complete backup of the site and any associated databases, then moving is not so easy.

Honestly, based on EIG's track record, I would not keep any site I cared about with them anymore.

You can go with GoDaddy and Hostgator. They both provide fantastic services. But I've one complain against Hostgator, they've very slow email response habit, when you need to solution of any issue. Other then that everything they provide is great.
