Ever since Hostgator was sold they have descended into a really inferior provider.

Now the latest is they don't even keep their own servers protected from Malware. So they tell me I have to pay Sitelock $300 to remove malware from my site?

What host providers do you recommend , that keep their servers protected from Malware and

    • COMPLETELY agree!

LiquidWeb provides awesome support, fast, friendly, helpful. Which is what HostGator used to provide before being taken over by EIG.

LiquidWeb usually answers emails within 15 minutes and their servers are top notch! Although I do think LiquidWeb is more for the specialized hosting, dedicated servers etc (storm servers) they also provide shared hosting.

      Good luck!

  • You don't have to pay Sitelock $300. You could pay me $750.

Why is it Hostgator's responsibility to keep YOUR site clean? Your account, your responsibility.

    • Thanks I will look into that provider. Will only cost me $20 to move to a new service provider, but these con artists charge $300 and this character above for 750 to remove Malware...??
      • [ 1 ] Thanks
    • so your more of a Scam artist than Sitelock..?

  • I like FutureHosting (VPS and Dedicated hosting only) and Site 5 (though it's been slow recently). Go for HawkHost for affordable hosting or MDDHosting for premium hosting.

I'm with Hostgator for a couple of my sites. In general the server uptime and speed is quite good. Support in the form of tickets are very slow though.

    • I never had any problem with them , since time when I start using their services.Another service what I'm using is a2hosting.com I'm happy customer over 2 years.

  • They become a rubbish after being sold. One of my sites almost ruined by them. Switched host immediately after noticing the problems on hostgator.

    • The only hosting provider that excels in all areas is HostNine!

Get HostNine and then also use Cloudflare...they're an exceptional combination.

      Much Success To You!

  • Shared hosting is going to suck sooner or later. Get a unmanaged VPS and configure it using this tutorial,
    https://tjosm.com/3801/setting-virtu...l-panel-nginx/

You'll have super-fast server under 1 hour for $10 per month. Cut the cost, do it yourself!

  • I am currently on Godaddy managed WordPress hosting and find it more reliable. Never had any problem with them. their support is excellent and up-time is great. They also provide free malware scan.
  • A2hosting in my opinion and experience is best. They have awesome customer support, every reply to my question is with problem solving intention. They are fast. Hosting packages are economical. I'd recommend them only
  • I have already moved from Hostgator to Hostwinds for so long. Their customer care is top notch. My issues were resolved within hours. Highly recommended.

    • I have been with Hostgator for over two years and always had good experience till just recently i noticed they were taking too long taking phone calls.
The problem is all these companies get sold when they get a huge customer base
and forget the main source of their growth their customers.
  • I have been very satisfied with Bluehost over five years now. They have very good customer service and good services overall.

  • I can understand the frustration with HostGator when it comes to malware. I used to get some malware injected into my WordPress sites from time to time and I would always contact HostGator and they would scan and remove the malware for me free of charge right then and there.

Now when you ask them to do that they won't help and want you to pay for their Sitelock protection. This is only something that has started since they were sold.

I can understand why people would be frustrated since most other large hosting companies will hep you out for free and not try to push one of their services on you. However, HostGator is a for profit company and so I can understand they are trying to make money.

Sometimes, though, a little customer service can go a lot farther in terms of bringing in new business than making your existing customers buy a monthly protection service. That being said, I guess you can't really expect a hosting company to protect your sites for you in addition to hosting them for $10 a month. After all, it is the site owners responsibility to protect and backup their own sites.

    • You won't see the list of hosting companies EIG owns in the Wikipedia entry anymore, but here it is.

I use Bluehost business service and am totally happy with it. Their customer service has been awesome over the years.

I do recommend LiquidWeb as well.

I also have used the cpanel of several of these EIG companies (as well as others including GoDaddy) doing website work, and can tell you they're all a little different. IDK if it's just because I use BH the most so am most familiar with it, but I find everything easy to see in their cpanel. Even LiquidWeb's cpanel isn't as good--less features, and things I want to find are more hidden there.
  • SSD VPS Hosting, SSD Web Hosting, and Dedicated Servers by D4 Networks

I have been using them from past few months, superb support and high quality servers.
  • Luminate is great. They used to be Yahoo Webhosting. Check them out.
  • After many years testing different registrars, I think its pretty much a wash. Many of the same hosting company's are owned by the same larger overseeing company's, so if there is a problem it is most likely to trickle down to their smaller affiliates.
  • Yeah, my site was hacked and lost it all. Hostgator, after many MANY attempts to get it resolved with them, it never got fixed even after being loyal to them for many years! I switched over to GVO. No issues with them.
    • [1] reply
    • I had a very similar experience with Hostgator back in 2011. Their support was very slow to respond to me.

I switched over to HawkHost and have had no problems at all so far.

GVO might be a good choice too, but I can`t say one way or the other since I have never utilized their service.
  • I know GoDaddy is unpopular in IM circles for some reason but I have honestly never used anyone but them and have nothing to complain about. Pricing seems fair and I love having them at the other end of the phone pretty much any time I need them.
  • After reading some of the comments above, I would avoid EIG hosts including bluehost at all costs. Coz hostgator and bluehost is hosted by EIG. So it make no difference, go for Stablehost.
  • I still think hostgator is the best. They handle traffic very well.

    Try bluehost
  • I think fatcow and iPage is good for you ..
  • I depend on the Godaddy & Hostgator. There may some temporary problem, but these site has the best service. Thank
  • Hostgator just took a dump on me 5 sites are dead. Phone line says they are experiencing extra volume.

Shame....They were great for so many years....

    cPanel login doesn't work....same one I've had for 6 or 7 years.

    Am transferring hosts tomorrow.

Also, thanks for the tips everybody, as I'd hate to wind up signing up under a Hostgator white label reseller!!!!
  • Wow I am sorry to hear that has happened to hostgator. I almost signed up with them a few years ago with they were doing their $0.01 first month offer but I didn't.

I often use TMDhosting. They are $49 a year and include a domain name. Works well for me.

  • go with hostwinds and use cloudflare
  • I would definitely stay away from HostGator and the other EIG companies. When it comes to hosting, I want a smaller host that actually cares about its customers and takes pride in their service and support. If you're looking for great shared hosting, Nexcess fits that bill.

Hostgator is really horrible. They cuts a lots of dollars from their users. I had a really bad experiance with them. Go for 1and1 they are really good.
  • Another positive on nexcess is that they offer InterWorx, which is my preferred alternative to cPanel.

    • MDDHosting is good - but I also use Hostgator (without any problems). For my WordPress sites, I use the All In One WP Security & Firewall Plugin.

I take care of my own security - cause nobody really cares but ME!

  • I feel brinkster is great as they cost less money and support asp dot net as well as classic asp.

I am still classified as a reseller for HORROR gator, and that should be their name. Frankly, we do not rec them any more. The original company was taken over. Actually, they were pretty good years ago. Sadly, we no longer feel that is our case. Hard to know why this occurs in companies. Like we mean... once they grow to a certain size... they feel consumers do not matter any more.

    Look at amazon.

I like siteground because their customer service is better.

Hostgator uptime is good but their customer service is bad.

Site ground is expensive but worth trying.

You get what you pay for --> I've been with Hostdime since 2002. Excellent company, great data centers, great connectivity, excellent support. See the extremely comprehensive company overview, server and NOC details, live NOC video feeds, and the data enter video tour they have on their website.
