I would like to have some feedback from actual Namecheap customers. What are your experiences with them?

Thanks guys.

Namecheap sucks, and they will sell you out if they get complaints and shit. Also, view their status module, they are always down. I dont like Godaddy either but at least their downtime is minimal. You get what you pay for.

I have all my domains there. I had one issue in the past, where they did not autorenew 2 domains. This was a known issue. They wanted to charge a huge fee for me to get them back. I raised hell on them, and they "waved" the fee.

Other than that, eventhough they don't have phone support, there text support works well.

Their prices for extras are cheap like Private Registration, and I can control my dns, which godaddy charged extra for. Don't know if that is the case now.

I give them a thumbs up.

The best thing about Namecheap is their response time to tickets. I once sung their praises but like ProducerK says one slight hiccup and they close your account and no refund. A case of buyer beware.

    Hi PPG19,

I have been using Namecheap hosting almost as long as they have offered it. It has been excellent, so far 100% uptime, their servers use SSD which makes them much faster than traditional hosting that provide much slower HDD.

I know that they have had some minor issues as they upgrade some of their older servers to the newest state of the art equipment, but those issues have affected only a small portion of their customers. Most users, like myself have not seen any issues at all and I have dozens of websites running on multiple servers at Namecheap. I count them among the most reliable hosting companies I have every had the please to deal with.

I have been using their lowest cost value plan for several multi-million dollar ecommerce businesses over the past year and have enjoyed 100% uptime. Those same sites hosted elsewhere had cost 10 times the price and were far less reliable.

Of course, just because a company has been 100% reliable in the past is no guarantee that the will be as reliable in the future. Your own experience may vary, no matter where you are hosting. All I can say is that I have used their hosting service for a couple of years and for me it has been fast, cheap, and 100% reliable.

I have always kept my domains and hosting separate from each other due to a previous bad experience.

However, a couple years ago I was tempted to try Namecheap's cheap hosting for a year when it was on special for Black Friday.

Even though they promise 100% uptime, I didn't experience that. If you notice, the great majority of hosts don't promise 100% uptime because they know they can't provide it. The biggest, most stable hosts still have downtime. It would be foolish for most people to make that kind of claim. Namecheap does it anyway. 99.9% uptime, which most hosts promise, equates to 43+ minutes downtime every month.

I was running an uptime monitor to check the downtime (I do this out of habit). While there was some small downtime here and there, nothing major. Until one time when the site was down for something like 3 hours (I forget - it was a long time though).

I contacted support to see if I had done something wrong and they denied the downtime occurred. They didn't believe the uptime monitor's reports because they sometimes give false positives according to them. I told them that my other hosting, using the same uptime monitor, hadn't been giving off false positives. They still denied it and said it didn't happen.

They could tell I was upset so I guess they escalated my ticket to a more senior level person. This person told me that there was significant downtime as the monitor indicated. This was due to someone getting attacked or having out of control scripts on their site or something along those lines.

She offered to give me .07 (7 cents) or something like that for my trouble. By this time I was so thoroughly upset at the lies I was told in the beginning that I was finished with them. So I took my toys and went somewhere else to play.

They know they can't achieve 100% uptime but they still promise it. This was just one example - remember there were several small outages I never complained about.

I can take a little downtime. It's happened at every host I've ever used including the 2 I'm using now. I can't take being lied to. If the second support person had dealt with me the first time, there would be no issue after asking my question.

Other than that, it was an okay - not great not terrible - experience. I can't imagine using them again, however, especially while they still tout 100% uptime.

    Mark

I don't understand why so many people don't like Godaddy. I have been a customer for more than 8 years and never had an issue with them.

I don't know about their hosting, but all my domain names been hosted on NameCheap and I never had an issue with them.

Coming to think about it, I don't really know if their support is good or not, things been really smooth with them and I never had to use it.

I have 2 shared hosting accounts with NC.
Sites tend to go offline when there are sudden surges in traffic.
They have pretty low resource limits.
