What VPS or SERVER Hosting Do You Use?

I have been brainwashed into believing that Hostgator was the best server ever since 2011 before I knew anything about servers, but after many years of trials and tribulations... My sites going down, enodes, resources, and other hosting issues I have decided to move on from hostgator.

I tried to stay with them but to get the best deal you have to commit to 12,24,36 months upfront.

Now that I have started researching other Hosting companies, I have found that I was overpaying and that other company have way more that what Im paying.

So my question is....

What hosting do you use?

VPS or DEDICATED SERVER?

And why do you think its the best?

HG does suck. We use KnownHost Managed SSD VPS with the Lightspeed addon. Fast, reliable, and GREAT customer service. Top notch all the way.

I've been using DigitalOcean for about 1 year now and been happy with them. Not a single downtime or even any sign of a problem in all this time.

VPS hosting = Shared Hosting + Server Root Access + Dedicated Resources + Isolated Environment
Server hosting= It refers to offsite management and upkeep of hardware resources that are designated for a company's use. By paying a monthly fee to a hosting service, companies can reap the benefits of having a full IT infrastructure without all the cost associated with equipment maintenance, training and updates.

I am using now VPS hosting

We're using Amazon EC2 for our product, we think it's the best because they have a lot of built-in services. You don't need depth knowledge in technical, just basic.

e.g. they have built-in WordPress VPS, that if you purchase that VPS, all you need to do is find a WP theme and install. That's all

or when you want to upgrade your instance to a faster or slower one, just one click, Amazon do the remainder things for you.

I use linode. Pretty dirt cheap and great performance.

But then again, I'm a tech geek. I was in network and infrastructure security for years and developed my own tools for locking down linux servers, so I like running my own.

If you need to scale something according to demand and really plan on blowing up a server or two, amazon is the way to go.

And yeah, HG really sucks. Expensive for what you get, horrible cust service, and boot you for no reason. Had a lot of friends have bad experiences with them so I always stayed away.

The difference between VPS and dedicated, that is usually a matter of need. Most people do not need an entire dedicated server and are unwilling to pay the hefty price tag that comes with it. While a VPS loses you a little bit of control, it is much cheaper and can still be scaled up to pretty large levels. Secondly, I'm sorry about Hostgator. It's not surprising, but it still stinks. In terms of managed VPS, I agree with those saying WiredTree. They are great. They offer 24/7 support and have great customer service. Liquidweb is also a really good option.

If you're not looking for managed, DigitalOcean is definitely affordable, just takes a bit more technical know-how.
