what is the best way to to get into internet marketing

hello,
been trying this internet marketing thing for a few months. I havent made a dime. It must be hard. Tried affiliate marketing but the gurus dont tell you that you must have a list. I think a list is the most important element of the internet marketing mix. But how do you get a list with no product to start with. Some people say give away free information. But to who. I dont have a list. If you go the affiliate marketing way and try to sell other peoples products, what list are you going to market it to?

Was the egg before the chicken or the chicken before the egg. Can somebody in this forum point me in the right direction and tell me how to start this biz properly cos i know money can be made.

    There's a learning curve with anything new.

    Find a product; do keyword research; choose long tailed keywords; build a website (or more) using those keywords; drive links to the pages with good anchor text. Had you done that a few months ago, your long tailed keywords would be ranking in the search engines by now.

    If you a a true newbie, you might want to try Ed Dale's 30 Day Challenge. You'll learn a lot along the way.

    Hi global, I have felt your pain! I struggled for probably a year trying to make money. I spent a ton of money trying to learn how to make money and never made a dime. Thankfully, I've made that money back many times over. Here are a few suggestions to you based on my own personal experiences.

    #1 I HIGHLY suggest you forget about the "gurus" right now. There are some brilliant marketers out there but until you begin to learn who everyone is and identify those who can truly guide you on the right path, it can be costly and frustrating. These guys are making money selling the dream of making money online.

    #2 In my opinion, every single new marketer, hands down, MUST do the 30 Day Challenge by Ed Dale! I personally stress and encourage this to every person who approaches me about wanting to get started.

    After struggling for so long, I found the challenge, and after going through the challenge, 2 months later I was making a low to mid 4 figure income monthly! No, it wasn't 10, 15, 20 thousand dollars a month like we all would like to make it to, but I now have the formula and I am steadily making my way to the 5 figure income per month.

    I did the challenge in 2007 I believe and it was a life change and a life saver! Forget about everything else for now and do the challenge. You will learn the foundation of internet marketing and no element is left out. From there, all you simply need to do is continue your IM education so to speak and build and expand on the basics!

    Truly, I can't encourage and suggest the 30 day challenge enough. I urge you to go check it out, just google 30 day challenge and you'll find it.

    #3 Network! I was alone and trying to learn by myself. The ebooks, videos, courses, and all that stuff can only do so much. When I began to network with fellow marketers, and learn from the people who are actually in the trenches do this stuff every day, thats when I truly began to learn and develop and become successful.

    #4 Avoid information overload and chasing every latest and greatest make money now course that comes out! Get your feet wet, see whats out there. But when you're ready to start making real money, you need to stick to a business model, make money, and grow that business. Don't start looking into other models until you've been successful with one. After that, then it's fine to start branching out so you don't have all you're eggs in one basket.

    I'm sure I could go on and on, but the above is what I feel to be some of the most important factors for a beginner to start making real money. I hope it helps you and hope that you will see success soon.

    One last piece of advice I will give to you is DON'T GIVE UP! Internet marketing is a rough road to travel and most never make it. If you stick with it, keep a good attitude through all the frustrations and even failures, the end will pay off big!

      Oh, one more thing I wanted to mention to you. With the whole building a list thing, yes, no doubt you can make a ton of money with list building. But don't be so focused on it that it frustrates you and throws you off balance.

      To this day I have never built a list. I know I could make more money if I did, but I simply don't like it and don't want to fool with it. There are plenty of people around here that would say I'm foolish, but I'm making good money and just never felt the absolute need to fool with it.

      I primarily do affiliate marketing. I build sites selling products from clickbank and other physical products. What you need to do is get the basics down first, once you have sites up and making money, then you can incorporate list building if you choose.

      Then it's only a simple matter of incorporating your optin forms. If you have any questions with anything I suggested, I'd be happy to reply and do my best to help you along your way.

      I'm no guru, and in fact don't feel I am in the same league with the majority of warriors here. There are some really outstanding, sharp marketers here. But I do make money, have been through a lot of failures and struggles, and personally, I think learning from failure is just as important if maybe not more important than learning from success.
