Need new suggestions for web hosting...

Here's my situation:

I recently purchased dedicated hosting from hostgator on a month by month basis at the recommendation of many here. However, in the past week I've had to call them up about a half a dozen times because the few websites I put on there were not loading. My server would be down, until about 30 seconds after a customer service rep would get on the line with me. Well today was the 6th time and I've decided to move on. I definitely can not afford for my site to be down so often. I hate Godaddy, but to be honest, the few sites I have on hostgator have been down more in 1 week, than the 30 sites I have at Godaddy have in the last 5 years.

So - Any suggestions for hosting, other than hostgator, or godaddy?

  • Bluehost is awesome if you don't mind being on a dedicated IP.

If you want to mix up your IP, ex: have a new IP per site, then use SEOHosting. They are owned by HostGator but my sites haven't been down in the past few months that I can re-call.

Use the coupon 35off to get 35 dollars off your first month at SEOHosting.

  • Thanks Zach, I'll take a look at Bluehost.
  • No problem.

You have to pay the full year, I believe, up front which is nice instead of paying each and every month. One less thing to track and pay.

    • I've been using HostGator for a while but I haven't had too many downtime problems. They do seem to be running on a short staff these days though. Perhaps they've got more business than their staff can handle.

I also have a HostNine reseller account and I've been pleased with them. I've had a few issues with some servers locations/nodes but they've been corrected rather quickly.

I also use GoDaddy hosting. It has some limitations and annoyances but it is reliable.
  • Hi garyv, have you tried namecheap?

  • I use BlueHost, they're very good. The only problems I've had, were problems I caused accidentally. And their customer service reps are quick and good.
  • - Also let me say that I'm looking for a dedicated server.
  • Hi Gary,

Might want to check out Liquid Web. Have a friend who had, or has, a
dedicated server with them and is happy with it.

I just opened an account with them for a vps.

    May be worth a look.
  • A2 Hosting. I've got a VPS with them, had a shared account before, never even a slight hiccup in 4 years.
  • I host my sites on HostGator and don't have any problems, they provided an excellent service to me. Another reliable hosting provider is theplanet.com, they provide dedicated servers.
