Which Hosting to use??

Hi All
I need some help for my new site - which hosting service do you recommend
I have a budget of around $100 to $130 (for 1 year)
I am not looking for dedicated hosting services -- just the normal ones

I was recommended Hostgator and bluehost -- anyone has any idea about them ? or which to use?

Please suggest which should i use - i want a reliable hosting service - that has good staff support as i have very little technical knowledge

Thanks for your help

You picked the best ones. They are both great. You can't go wrong.

If that answer is not what you're looking for, then..

    go with hostgator

    good luck

I agree. Both are great and I recommend both to my customers. However, I have to give the edge to HostGator (HG). The Baby Plan is a good start, because you can always upgrade later if needed. The only reason I give HG and edge is because BlueHost has a custom cPanel that confuses my customers. However, once they understand it - it is very easy to work with.

I would suggest that price "not" be a factor when choosing a host for business. Lean more towards Reliability (Up Time), Speed, and Support. Both Hostgator and BlueHost are excellent in my own experience.

      Jeffery 100% :-)

I also would have to recommend HG. Their customer service is great and their hosting options (plans) are very nice for many different levels of needs. If you have any specific questions, you could always contact their live support by clicking the chat button on the homepage. The wait time usually isn't all that bad. Good luck with whichever you happen to choose.

I've personally use Hostgator and have been for over 3 years. I've never had a problem with them. If I've ever had a question, there support has been excellent.

Now, I will admit that it can take up to 10 minutes or so to get a support agent, but when you do, they're extremely helpful and pleasant to work with.

Of course, that just my experience. But they're also the same hosting company I have always recommended to my customers over the last couple of years.

    i`m using Hostgator too:
Shared Web Hosting: This is the basic type of hosting which most people will want. You will be able to host more than one website and enjoy HostGator's award winning 24/7/365 support available through phone, email and live chat. Our support agents are never outsourced; everyone you speak to works in the United States of America.

If you want it just get Baby plan with:
    UNLIMITED Domains
    UNLIMITED Disk Space
    UNLIMITED Bandwidth
    Shared SSL Certificate
    For 7.95/month

    Hope it will help,

    Philok

I use bluehost for several of my sites. They're a good host but the support isn't as fast as it used to be. I also use Fast Domains and they seem pretty good. I've only used them for a few months but they answer tech support calls in about three rings and you're talking to a person, not put on hold. I like that!

My vote is for Hostgator as well. Support is amazing. I have used several hosts over years, and I would always recommend HG over any others. I rarely have any problems, and on the odd occasion that I do, they handle it promptly and professionally.

    Cheers

I prefer bluehost myself because I have figured out the setup and gotten comfortable with them. Bluehost has lots of features and one click installations like installing wordpress on your site.

One thing you may want to consider is if you plan on running any kinds of scripts. Certain scripts only work with php4 and most hosting companies run php5. If you can find a host that can run php4 or php5. If you don't forsee yourself running any scripts in the next year then it doesn't matter. Fatcow hosting runs both php versions and their pretty cheap with good customer service
