What are your favourite online classified ad sites?

Hi guys, I'm fairly new to Internet Marketing and I am trying to take small steps in learning the different avenues for promoting products and services. I've definitely been guilty of trying to learn too much at once and then ending up frustrated and never really getting anything productive done So! That said, this week I am focusing on advertising via (free if possible) Classified ads, and I was wondering if you guys would be so kind as to share or recommend your favourite online classified site(s) that you use to promote to. Thanks! Connor P.S. At the moment I am using Craigslist, Adpost and Oodle (still learning the ins and outs)

Dont waste your time. You'd be better off doing Forum Marketing for free. Put a signature on your profile, post good advice/replies on forums.

Make sure your sig has an affiliate link or your blog with a post and link to an affiliate link inside.

    All the best,
    Derek

Tron2K: Wow! Thanks a TON for that elaborate list Tron2K I'll get on that!

Coyotex: I am not sure if I am correct about this but I think there are parts of Craigslist where you can or have to pay for increased exposure? As for my experience on posting an ad in Craiglist I am only allowed one post per category for one geographic region. As far as I know that is my allowed limit for posting on Craigslist.

John Tees: If it is posted to the classified ad, how does the time of day matter? Will they not see the ad no matter what time of day? Or it is that due to the number of ads posted that I would need to be on the ball to make sure that certain target groups see the ad at certain times? Sorry if that sounds rude, I am just curious

Thanks for the great feedback so far! You guys rock

If you post a sticky/featured ad it doesn't matter at all as people will see it. But with free ads, a high level of posting activity could be a bad thing when it comes to getting your ad seen. At peak periods its not uncommon to have your ads quickly fall off the first page within minutes. And its doubtful that people are going to go looking for ads on the second, third, and fourth pages. Its beyond your control, but its easier to get your ad seen when there isn't as much posting activity.

Even if the ad does fall to page 3 or 4 as John has noted, you'll at least get the backlinks from the ads.

Classified ads are great if you have well written ads. Also, it's good for folks like me that have 31 product niche sites to promote.

I don't think I can place 31 links in a forum signature. Although it's a good way to market.

Why you don't try Craigslist? It's the world's largest classified ad site ever. I have been posting lots of ads there on Craigslist and I'm impressed I got leads rather than the second-rated classified ads. AdLandPro and Gumtree are ok, but Craisglist is the best there ever.

I have a question about Craigslist, and maybe it's because I haven't looked at it too closely. I have posted personal items (furniture and stuff) so I understand the concept.

What I don't get is when you say you're using CL for classified ads, how do you in which area (city, state) to post? Do you just pick and choose at random or do you just put up about a million classified ads?

I ask this because most people have digital products and they are not locked into one particular area.

As it relates to online classifieds/advertising forums in my experience results do vary. It depends on what you are promoting, to whom and what time of the day you are promoting it. You might have better luck promoting a certain product at 6pm than you would at 9am due to the fact that someone who might have more of an interest in it might happen to be on a that time. They do work but there are alot of variables with them.

Before I respond...should I be thinking about doing a WSO about posting on kijiji?

Seriously...2 things I've learned about posting on kijiji:

        1. Short ads with your link convert better BUT they're very likely to get removed. So longer more legitimate ads are better overall.

        2. Put only 1 link in the ad. Your instinct is probably to put several links and make them big and bold and brightly colored. That's guaranteed to get your ad removed, or not even posted. Kijiji seems to look for multiple instances of anything that looks like a link and either doesn't post the ad or holds it for human review.

You might think that's not going to get much attention but it will if your ad copy is good and you're promoting something that people want (marketing 101).

I believe currently, it's only US but that could change really fast just like with everything else in internet land!

Nothing says that you can't try "twisting" things a little, like Creatively testing a Quick move into US and going slightly postal with your key pad, and/or connecting with a USA friend/relative, cross promotion, jv etc. etc...

Possibly some low cost outsourcing as discussed quite frequently on the warrior forum. Apply some out-of-the box thinking!

Not sure on their IP setup but you just Never know if you don't try and of course you can always ask politely and Say please let me beta test Canada for you...
      upillar.com | Free Online Classifieds

Interestingly enough if you do a search on keywords related to Canada, classified stuff is posted in the US and ready for wheeling and dealing...

Hi guys Regarding those of you who recommended USFreeads.com, have you had any issues with them copyright wise? I was reading their terms of use and this was quite interesting: "http://www.usfreeads.com/modules/inf...erms.asp" I'm not that familiar with standard classified ad terms of use but this seems quite risky! I was just wondering if those of you who have used it have run into any issues, such as seeing your work published or copied elsewhere? Cheers, Connor

Many of the sites I would mention have already been listed. I run a site called Simply Advertising and its basically a free and low cost advertising forum. I seem to get alot of results from it but of course I've built a rather large list from it and others have stated that ads posted there have brought them results. I'm a big fan of classified sites that actually produce results for the people who use them. Posting ads without some kind of payoff is not only discouraging but also a huge waste of time.
