Hi all fellow warriors,

Can you suggest the best and cheapest domain provider?

As far as i know namecheap and godaddy have a reliable history but not that cheap (although they have coupon)

Thanks

Hmm - it's like that old saying, "There are old bikers and bold bikers, but no..."

It's the same with "best" and "cheap" - don't risk it!

One of the cheapest but reliable would be name.com. They give free whois privacy. If you use Feb's coupon code, you pay $8.09 for com, net, org

coupon code for feb is CRUS HIT

GoDaddy using a coupon is $7.49, with their added reliability and ease of use, you can't really go wrong. You would be hard pressed to find a registrar who can go 1 better.

I use godaddy namecheap and ipower , you can become an affiliate for all of them, then you will be in their mailing list and get special offers, sometimes you can get a .com at $5 and info for less than $1 . Always compare prices and use the monthly coupons for discounts.

You can join godaddy from CJ, Namecheap and Ipower you can join directly from their site.

There are also first year domain free when you get hosting from some providers like hostmonster, imhosted, lunarpages and bluehost.

      Hi t3ch, Sandy here..

I myself used to use GoDaddy for all my domains.
      But have switched to NameCheap.
Namecheap is reasonably priced and are user friendly.

If you find you can't get the domain you want from
      GoDaddy or Namecheap,

I make a living selling domain names.
So, if you're ever in need of a premium domain
visit my domain sight in my sig file.

Using Namecheap.com and coupons I pay about $8.50 for .com domains with free privacy protection (if you want it). Best deal I could find. They have a good control panel for looking after your domains and they offer Paypal as a payment option.

Their customer support is ok too.

Just use them both. When you are ready to

I always use GoDaddy. I was a customer of Hostway previously, and I absolutely hated their service. With GoDaddy, the customer service is head over heels the best I've ever experienced.

I have also used 1 and 1 just to register domains because I got a good deal at the time. But for my hosting clients, I'm using GoDaddy unless I'm convinced some other service is much better, not much cheaper.

It's really nice to get a domain name for under $10, and the temptation is to buy a bundle of them at the cheap price. The "sting in the tail" is 12 months later when you have to renew the bundle and the price is over $10 per name, especially if they all renew on the same day!

      I use Namecheap.com , DomainAbbey.com & 1&1.com

They are inexpensive (cheap) and trustworthy. I had never heard of internetbs.net and when I looked them up they have an awesome offer. If I read their info correctly, you can transfer an existing domain to them for under $7 AND get a FREE 12 month extension - so 2 years for under $7, now that's cheap!

But my next question would be..

What happens to your domain name(s) if the registrar disappears, goes out of business or is shut down?

Not that the WOT (web of trust) site is the end-all, know-all to reliable websites but their information seems to be reliable so here is the info I found regarding some of the popular choices listed in this thread:

      Internetbs.net
      NameCheap.com
      Godaddy.com
      1and1.com
      Name.com

Here are some tidbits about WOT - top 10 faq's

Since your domain name is a vital part of your online business, you might want to consider just how important it is to save about 17 cents a month versus using a trusted and reliable registrar.

      I hope this helps.

I was under the assumption that when you paid to transfer your domain name to most any new registrar, that your expiration date would be extended by 12 months.

So when they advertise in large print that they offer FREE one-year extension that this would be beyond the normal 12 months you get with the transfer.

      Thanks for the heads-up.

This was also my question. In reply to one of my mail ,they said "thank you very much, it is thanks to customers like you that we can keep our

Well i've used godaddy at first cause they're popular. Then i registered my newer ones to namecheap and i find that i get more value cause of the free whois privacy inclusion. Now i got a couple of godaddy domains expiring and i'm going to transfer those to internetbs to try them out. Looks good after reading some of other's comments about it, so i'm giving IBS a shot.

I've switched from godaddy to namecheap. I like how namecheap doesn't try to upsell you everything under the sun like godaddy does. Namecheap also gives you the feature that hides domain ownership free for a year which godaddy and most others charge for.

I too tried contacting their live support but no one answered. However, i did send in an email and their response was quick to reply.

I transfered a couple of domains from godaddy to internetbs to test them out. And because i had a couple of domains expiring anyways.

Anyways, the private whois is similar to namecheap's whois guard. It's the same. From what i understand about their pricing it's $6.95 for the first year (with private whois) and it's $7.99 thereafter (with private whois). So for it's the cheapest i've come across and the service is not bad either.
