Anyone know of any good shopping portal/cart software?

Hi, I need to do a makeover with one of my sites and was wondering whether anyone here knows of any shopping type of software/script that I could install to handle the daily sales transaction easily. Currently, the site runs on Wordpress platform so I have to manually send the product to each and every customer, which is tedious to say the least.

Is there any script that can handle the input of unique values (each sale is for a unique string of values, sort of like a code or ID) and handle the PayPal transaction automatically?

I think Zen cart is probably the best stand alone solution out there, I don't think it intergrates with Wordpress but from experience (I've used many, including the Wordpress plugin) Zen cart has been the best option for me so far.

  • I am currently in the process of setting up and launching a site base on a free webscript called Uber Drupal. Handles digital and physical items easily without interaction from yourself. Even if the product is a free product. Over the years I have worked with many free and paid options that are available. I have to admit Uber Cart is very user friendly and has a huge selection of free addons to enable any feature you would require. Especially in terms of SEO.

    Hi Ianbong,

Are you saying you're selling codes that need to be distributed to the customer?

Or are you saying each purchase product is different - they need to input a certain code before they buy?

If you're selling things like serial codes, then there is a free script that comes with DLGuard that'll allow you to distrubute codes.

Did you want it in a Cart kind of system, or are you happy single item sales?

    cheers

Hi ianbong ...take a look at the system I started using. It has everything under one roof (so to speak): Premium Web Cart (dot ) com

I run several mini-membership sites now and I was able put them all under one license which makes it affordable as each site brings in only a little profit so i could not afford to buy new software for each site.

Plus it's easy to manage them all as each site creates a "tab" in my account so I just click on the tab for the business I want to manage. Think of an Excel workbook and you'll get the picture.

I am running Zen Cart on two websites and I love it. I looked into Magento and it also looks good, but the enterprise edition is $11K, and the free version does not have features that I want.

I use ecart (webassist) - its a dreamweaver extension (php based). Its good - but as with all webassist products it's best you know (slightly-more-than-intro-level) php.
