Hey Guys,

Who has gone (or is going) through this course and how has it been?

Im also curious to know how much you can charge for this - and what the optimal fee structures are?

Thanks

What can I charge for my services? I can pretty much charge as little or as much as I want + ask for as small or big a cut of your sales as I want.

The upfront fee can range from a few hundred to a few hundred thousand bucks (depending on who and/or what kind of business you're dealing with). The cut can be a few % or up to 20%. It depends on a few things. For example, if I have to do a lot of work, I'll take a bigger cut. If you have a continuity program, I'll take a little chunk out of the first X months.

We can pretty much get away with charging whatever we want because we know that the amounts you pay us will pale in comparison to the amounts we bring to you.

I don't want to make all PLMs sound like sharks though - it's really value-based pricing. PLMs bring the goods and charge accordingly.

      HI IMLogic

Just thought I would jump in here and add to what Curtis has already posted:

I actually went through the PLM course in fall of 09 and then went to the live event in LA in February 2010. Course was great. Jeff is a really smart, high integrity guy. He continually overdelivers imho. Training was really informative as well as full of tools and swipe files. I have found a great community of really smart people who are happy to share information amongst fellow plms. For me personally, it helped build on my existing marketing knowledge and skills and experience - which included online marketing and product launches and events offline. I am really glad I did it!

I think the learning curve it's a bit quicker with some marketing and tech background [web dev/programming], though not necessary.

In terms of pricing, there is another service option, in addition to full Product Launch Management, which is really valuable and can be lucrative - that is the Product Launch Blueprint Consult.

It is a short term consulting engagement that helps people who:

May not be ready for a launch, but would like a roadmap to help put in place all the necessary components for a successful launch

May be looking for expert advice on their launch - a trained, experienced launch manager, a fresh objective perspective pm on their product/pricing etc [from which point they can decide to do it themselves or hire the launch manager to run the launch]

These are really valuable to the client as they identify strengths and weaknesses in the business, provide a launch strategy as well as a step by step blueprint.

For the Launch Manager it is a great way to pick up clients who may not have a budget big enough to hire a launch manager, demonstrate their expertise, and possibly wow the client into becoming a full product launch management client.

Personally I think the best part is being to provide really great value to clients and help them succeed more and with less stress.

The blueprint consult is a bit like dating... it helps both the client and plm decide if they want to work together on a product launch [which means a lot of time together, so its important that you are a good fit, and work well together].

Pricing varies by launch managers.....however this is done as a flat fee service. I credit the fee if a client decides to hire me to manager their launch after having done their blueprint.

Feel free to pm me if you have any other questions or would like to chat
