Market Samurai is a very powerful software.

    I like it a lot, but I guess it's all about self-preferences.

I have been using Market Samauri also for some time. IMO it is one of the best tools out there. It's very easy to use. Has a lot of features that you don't even know you need till you use it and watch their instructional videos. Give their trial offer a spin. It will sell it self.

    Yes ... you're head!

I always use the dictionary and think outside the box to get a competitive edge. Every other IMer uses these tools so if you want to be ahead of the game you have to use your brain to come up with new variations.

The dictionary/thesaurus sites also help to come up with synonyms etc.

    Nope, keyword clicks dont count.

What does count is the amount of incoming links to your site with the main keyword you want to rank for in the anchor text. Get loads of those from relating sites with a high PR and you will rise in the ranks, plain and simple.

    Any questions let me know

Great idea, it goes to show i suppose that the simple methods really are the best, i guess people shy away from these methods because they class them as too much hard work?

      way to go Nick....John.

I bought Keyword Elite and really like it but I haven't used anything else so I have nothing to compare it to.

What I really like about it is that it is so well supported with a ton of videos on every single aspect and the videos are done by many people so you get to see it used in action by people who use it everyday. The benefit is that everyone does it slightly differently so you get a really good overview and ways that you can apply the tool to what you want to do.

It's sort of multipart so you can drill down quite deeply for different types of information. Maybe they all do this, i don't know, but as a newbie I'm find Keyword Elite to be very easy to use.

Yeh i have to say that Brad Callens really cornered the market on keyword research, however don`t get me wrong, Keyword Elite is not the be all and end all in keyword research but it`s a major player!

We recently released our new keyword research tool, Cash Keywords Pro. It includes separate tools for keyword generating and analyzing, long tail keyword finder, PPC bids/ bid ranges, domain tools - plus tools for trends, demographics, and frequently asked questions.

Some videos at our blog on stuff you can do with this tool: Cash Keywords Blog

And a big plus for IM'ers, top Affiliate and CPA network offers matched to keywords.

All these "pieces" will combine to do different things like:

Find articles, videos, hub pages, squidoo lenses, social bookmarks and blogs that are ranked on page one for your keywords (and where the holes are in those markets)

Find the top websites for any keyword (or high PR sites in your niche), then analyze their demographics and keywords.

Find the CPA networks with offers based on a specific keyword phrase, then you can choose the one with the highest payout and click to go to their site to sign up right then.

Theres a ton more, but I didn't mean for this to be a sales page. My partner, Steve Juth and I aren't some new guy on the block with a junky tool - Cash Keywords started in 2005, we've had other keyword tools like AdSense Accelerator and AdWord Accelerator since 2004.

We're pretty much under the radar because we chose to avoid getting into the IM guru promo network, and we prefer a real, low-key approach. Joel Comm and Perry Marshall both endorse our tools, and recently posted about it on their blogs.

        Thanks Everyone!!

I use keyword tool external for my first selection of keywords, and when I narrow down the ones that have the characteristics I'm looking for I use adwords to double check if the search volume is 100% accurate. The reason for this is that I've found out that most of the time numbers are pretty accurate in the google tool, but in a few occasions I have found that they are not, so is always good to double check before for example optimizing a site for the organic results.
