Hey,

So as you probably guesses I'm looking for a free autoresponder that I can use initially, money is kind of tight just now or I would have went with Aweber, as I have used them before and they were great.

Anyways I would like some feedback on any free autoresponders that you folks might have used, and what you thought of them. I no Mailchimp is Free for your first 500 subscribers and was thinking of going with them, any thoughts?

  • I would use aweber myself it's only a dollar for the first 30 days but if mailchimp is free for 500 subscribers ok.
Just be careful that when your follow-up goes out and your broadcast that they aren't getting caught in the spam filters and not getting to your subscribers. Aweber is known for its high delivery rat and getting through the spam filters

  • You can use Freeautobot.com - They don't display ads in your email as well.

    • I posted just SECONDS after you. Seems
      great minds think alike, indeed,

  • Back in the day (some 6 years ago) I used
FreeAutobot.com and it was VERY good
and most importantly, it had NO ads in the
    messages sent.

I just googled it and it's right there on the
first page for "free autoresponders" without
    quotes.

    • I will check it out, did you find the deliverability rates to be good?
  • When I first started out I used free autoresponders but as my list grew and my knowledge advanced I relized that a paid service would be much better. The problem was that I lost many of the subscribers from the free services I was using when I switched over.

So if i were you I would start with an elite autoresponder from the beginning...

Getresponse is one of the top autoresponders on the market, I'd say second only to Aweber. The good thing is that you can use it for FREE to begin with. Then when you've got a bit of cash you can upgrade.

The best part is you don't have to transfer your list accross.

    I hope this helps...

    • I agree, in the end your list is one of your most important assets are an IMer , and you can start aweber for just $19 bucks a month. If people are serious about IM and build a list it would pay for itself over and over again.

    • Never new getresponse was free to start, I will check it out, I think I might just bite the bullet and go with Aweber, as I said I used them before and thought they were great, just wanted to no if there were any good free ones on the market, but everything keep pointing towards aweber or getresponse.

I wouldn't want to risk losing subscribers, when I do decide to change over, so I am probably better avoiding that altogether
  • If you have your own server, you can get what's called AutoresponsePlus.
It currently costs $197, but that's a one time fee. You never pay per month, and you
can grow your list to any size you wish.

  • From what I've heard, and don't know how true this is, if you host your own autoresponder, and someone flags you as being a spammer, could it damage your domain name listings in the search engines etc?

For a different free autoresponder, I'm trying out MailChimp.com, and seems ok so far. I've used Aweber in the past and found them to be excellent, and MailChimp isn't as intuitive, but hey, it's free!

  • If you need free and you need quality check out

The developers did a real nice job. Lots of features. Unlimited
    use and list size.

The problem with MailChimp is their hostile TOS towards
affiliate marketing. Read MailChimp policies carefully.

  • Try profollow.com it's a private label Aweber service and less expensive.

As some people probably said that aweber has a $1/30 day offer but it looks like you already had use them previously
As for mail chimp I also wanted to use them while trying to choose between aweber or mailchimp. I'm pretty sure they don't allow affiliate links which might defeat the purpose of your list depending on what you want your list for.

    All the Best to You,

  • this is not answer that you want to hear, but you need to not use any free autoresponder's.

You need to pay the money to get your own hosting and and a reliable autoresponder service such as Aweber or GetResponse. If you're going to run any type of information marketing business those are absolutely critical. If you cannot afford them, I would suggest going and getting a part-time job so you can afford them.

These are two things that you do not want to mess up. Your sites need to be up for people to visit them. And you need a reliable autoresponder so that you can follow up with potential customers and clients.

    • Before we released ListWire, I would have agreed with you 100% ... but I can't anymore. The reason most people are suggesting you not use free autoresponders is because the people behind them have no history, they have no knowledge of email delivery rates, and they are going to fill your outgoing emails with ads ...

Well, that used to be the case, but not any more.

Again, I used to agree with you on this, but I've met hundreds of people (in person at offline events) who simply can't afford another monthly fee, or who's spouse/significant other won't "allow" them to spend any money on marketing stuff.

I'm not going to get into the marital politics of that one ... but, there are tens of thousands of people who can't afford to pay anything monthly. And, getting a second, or third job to support an online business would mean not having enough time left over to put into an online business.

That's one of the reasons we opened ListWire ... I used to be as hard as they come when it came to telling people "do it right", "have a plan", "stop treating this as a hobby", but that was before I met all these people who really want to do it, but can't get another job, can't afford the cost, etc.

So my thinking changed from ... if you can't do it right, don't to it at all, and now it's ... just do something, something is better than nothing.

Look, if you've got a list of 500 - 1,000 people, and you're making good money, there's nothing that says you have to stay with a free system if you want to move to another company ... but, why not do something right away? Why not get started immediately?

What if the OP of this thread has visitors coming to a free blog, but can't afford an autoresponder? Should they just throw all that traffic away? Or, should they use whatever they can that'll do the job, and capture those subscribers while the visitors are on the site.

Odds are, those visitors won't be back tomorrow ... or after the OP "gets a job" to pay for their autoresponder. Those visitors are there today, so capture them, and start following-up today.

If you don't think List Wire is going to be reliable, you don't know me very well ...

I've been in this field specifically for more than 12 years, and was one of the original members of the Warrior community.

Maybe you're referring to free autoresponders of the past, and if that's the case ... I can't blame you for telling people to run like hell ... but, things have changed, and there is now a reliable, free, autoresponder.

Yes, I used reliable, and free in the same sentence with autoresponder ... it's technology great?

Wrapping this up, if you're ready to get started TODAY, and want a solid, reliable, autoresponder right now ... there's only one option, and that's List Wire.

      Thanks,
      Gary Ambrose
  • If you know just a little of HTML & php script installation, I suggest you try the script Infinite Responder - Free Autoresponder Script

It is free and highly customizable, and it also can handle unlimited subscribers.

    • If we use Autoresponder Script like parabots or infinite then how about hosting rule? i think if we use shared hosting, we ll get banned for sending thousands email everyday. Is there any shared hosting allowing this? maybe im interested.
  • Check out listwire it a very good service to be FREE.

  • Almost ALL of the "People in the Know" recommend against Free autoresponders
The money you save is small in comparison to the disadvantages
    Aweber is the Best

    • I'm going to re-post this, as apparently it got deleted ... I'm really not sure why.

The reason that most "people in the know" used to recommend against free autoresponders is because there weren't any good, solid free autoresponder options out there. The ones offered in the past filled your emails with ads, didn't worry about email delivery rates, and weren't run by people with any history in the field.

Hosting videos used to be incredibly expensive, but it took just a single service to change all that ... that's what we're aiming to do with List Wire.
