I'd like to know as well. From a graphics point of view, it looks awesome if we're building simple sites as there is few options for templates, but we can very quickly customize the few templates we can play with.

I've read rumors about bad interactions with some plugins and that's what concerns me. To quickly build sites it seems a great product.

Another issue I have is about the footprints. It seems built for us IMers, and as Google seemingly hate us, I wonder if it's a good idea to have such a bold common footprint (the theme) with other marketers. Others themes are so widely used that there is no footprints anymore.

I found out about this theme yesterday.

To be honest, i dont think that google would "punish" sites solely because they use a certain theme - be it a "marketer" theme or whatever theme. It would be kind of absurd.

Works great easy to use, good price. Many marketers use a base theme. This is nice to use to change each blog though.

I love it! There is considerable flexibility within Socrates to make one's blogs unique, so I can't think why Socrates blogs will raise the ire of Google.

Don't get me wrong: there's nothing wrong about a theme in the eyes of Google!! I'm not paranoid at all about graphics - that's not my point here.

Many high profile marketers suggest using only common themes, or else one unique theme per IP, etc. Why? To not give human reviewers a quick way to find out a cookie model site system, and find out sites "built for adsense" and affiliate sales, etc.

They have been banning PPC accounts for no reasons other than they are leading browsers to affiliate sites, so to me using a theme that basically only affiliate marketers will use *could* be hazardous in the long run. Just as many gurus suggest we don't put Google Analytics on our affiliate site, same reasoning. Make it as hard as possible if SE decide to ban our butts for reasons only known to them.

Again, nothing to do with the graphics. Just that we'd be using a theme only marketers are using, so if some idiots are using it for ill purposes and draw the ire of human reviewers, they *could* use the theme coding as quick way to find other sites to check.

Anyway, probably a moot point if we use Socrates on just a fraction of our sites. It looks pretty damn impressive.

A colleague of mine purchased it and it won't work with wpRobot which is what she wanted it for. I'm not sure about other plugins.

Now that concerns me. There might be other plugins as well. Weird how programming works...

She did contact the Socrates team and they said they would get the plugin and work at seeing what the problem was. If they have or not I don't know. She used a different theme with no problems.

I have Socrates running with wpRobot with no problems as all. You just have to careful to install Socrates first then add wpRobot on top. There's also a new version of wpRobot so if she's running the old version that may be the problem.

It's like saying every car sales man is a scammer, respective every marketer uses thin "made for adsense" sites?

If someone uses quickly churned out "cookie cutter" sites this is a total different issue and has really nothing to do with the used theme.

And..to be honest, IF google bans then there is usually a reason behind it.

Also..."marketer" and "quality sites" does not need to be mutually exclusive. Google will look at the content and the intention of your site rather.

Understand that I fully agree with you. Indeed "marketer" and "quality sites" does not need to be mutually exclusive.

I go with what some highly respected guys have been saying, and the many posters here who say their PPC and/or Adsense accounts have been banned for NO reason. Of course, their ban might have justified, we just don't know. Anyhow, I don't really care to "defend that view point" further.

I use the theme on all of my sites with no problems. I have ebay affiliate sites using Phpbay and other sites that promote Clickbank , Amazon, and my own products, and have never had a problem with the theme.
As far as leaving a "footprint", the theme does have a salespage option but I have never used it. None of my sites are just a one page site so I don't know about any footprints it may or may not leave with a one page site.
