Micro Niche Finder Alternative? (plus a minor rant...)

Over the past week I have given up on MNF. The "Narrow Dig" function doesn't work as well as it used to (minor gripe), the Strength of Competition requires a CAPTCHA on every signal keyword (major gripe) and now the keywords do not match the Google keyword tool because the data may come from another country (major gripe).

Sigh...

I've looked at Market Samurai and it seems good. Has anyone had trouble assessing strength of competition with it recently due to Google's changes?

Cheers,

Coz

I was thinking about buying MNF.
Why would MNF use another countrys keywords?
I use the free version of MS and am very happy with it.
I also use the free version of TrafficTravis.Very good.
    Have you contacted MNF.
I think i will just to see whats going on before i purchase.

I've never used MNF, but Market Samurai is the best tool for keyword research as far as I'm concerned.

Go sign up for it's trial version and you'll be surprised.

Hi everyone, this is James Jones from Micro Niche Finder and I want to take this opportunity to address your concerns:

    1) The "Narrow Dig" function doesn't work as well as it used to (minor gripe).

There has been no change in Narrow Dig. If you are seeing differences it is probably due to a setting in the search preferences. Check to make sure you have the settings selected that you intended. Such as Synonym, Include Relevant Results, etc.

    2) Strength of Competition requires a CAPTCHA on every signal keyword (major gripe)

We are well aware of this problem and are working on a solution. Thank you for your patience. I can assure you that this problem will be fixed. Just give us some time to analyze and make the necessary changes.

    3) now the keywords do not match the Google keyword tool because the data may come from another country (major gripe).

The data is coming from the Google Keyword Tool so the results should be exactly the same as if you were doing searches from Google directly. If there are discrepancies they are usually the result of a setting. Here is a Knowledge Base article that may help:
Micro Niche Finder Results Don't Match Google External Tool - Powered by Kayako SupportSuite Helpdesk Software

OR -- are you using a proxy server? This can cause unreliable results.

    4) Why would MNF use another countrys keywords?

You can select the Google server that you want to get results from. It is US by default.

    5) apparently the upgrades is down by an outsourced programmer.

I think you meant to say, "done by an outsourced programmer." The programmer is Kevin and he is on staff. And has been for over 2 years now.

Thanks for your support and patience.

Sorry James, didn't see your response. There is a variable query time setting on Keyword Sniper Pro that would be great if that feature was used on MNF. It randomly changes the query time within a set boundary. Bet that would solve the issues with SOC (which I think is the best feature of MNF).

I think you could try Niche Disco. It is not really the same as MNF, but it does give you the hottest keywords, for which you can rank for.

I have tried them all and they each have their own little "nice features". But the one I turn to time and time again is MNF, it does exactly what I need to have done for my KWR in the most efficient manner.

Yes the capcha is getting a bit old but James does an awesome job of updating and improving things. I would be willing to bet that soon there will be an update that will make it even better.

Hey James if you read this, hope you include that You Tube feature we were introduced to by Marcus today.

Yeah me too, MNF is awesome, if you're having problems it's usually a setting you've changed.

This is a very powerful tool! If you know which countries the rest of the global searches are coming from then you know which Countries you want to be ranking in Google for. It's especially useful for us here in the UK. You can get a .com ranking in google in all countries but some take a little extra work e.g. backlinks from .co.uk domains for UK Google Web Search.

Micro Niche Finder is an awesome tool and I regularly use it for getting some new ideas both from the hot trends and the brainstorm funtions. Because of the MNF ease of use, I personally tend to use it more than Market Samurai which I also own and recommend.

Yes, the same problem here. I just shut it down. Something is up with MNF and they have been having many problems since the last major update. I've been using MS and Jack Duncan's Keyword Sniper Pro.

I have MNF and, though there are occasional problems, their support is outstanding. I always hear from them within 24 hours -- usually much sooner -- and their solutions work 99% of the time. And if their solutions don't work, they write back to let you know what's going on and what they are doing to resolve it. I have other keyword research tools, but this is #1 in my book.
