XSitePro seems to be a great website builder, going by reputation. I am seriously pondering whether to go for one. I would be happy to go for it, if it supports a few features. I wanted to understand whether those features are supported.

Background: I have a site that should convert at 1 sell per 25 views or so, but thanks to my personal site design skills (hand-written PHP files) it converts at 1 sell per 100+ visitors. In other words, I am making less than 1/4th of what I should make from it. This is the site that I hope to use XSitePro on, with the hope that a professional-looking template will increase the volume of sales highly. Please note that pages from this site arre on the Google first page, and the main keyword toggles between #3 and #4 (one push of the given URL will move it to #2 practically certainly, and 3-4 pushes will move it to #1 - so keeping the URLs is important for me). By the way, an extremely helpful fellow-Warrior has taken a look and also expressed his thought that the niche is a winner and the site template is one of the biggest reasons that I am not selling well.

Why not wordpress? To keep the ".php" file extensions intact, I would not be able to migrate this site to a platform that does not support file name extensions. So I don't want to move to Wordpress and thus lose my SEO work done so far, and I don't really want to redirect pages at this stage.

What am I looking for from XSitePro?

1. Can XSitePro have file name extensions as I wish? So, I can create a new XSitePro site but maintain my old sitemap.

2. Can I name the image files as I wish to using XSitePro?

3. Can I easily migrate from one template to another using XSitePro without touching the URLs of the inner pages of the site?

4. Are enough XSitePro custom templates available in number to choose from? In my case, color-optimization is important - can I play with my template colors easily?

5. Is is possible/easy enough/affordable enough to design custom XSitePro templates?

I shall add if I later realize that I have missed some other important questions.

    Hi,
I have XSP2, and it is a great tool and very easy to use. The only thing I don't like is you can't load a site made with another builder. You can't just open any file like you could with NVU. If you decided to sell your site, you would have to sell it to someone who has XSP. If I am wrong, feel free to correct me, but that is what I was told by their support staff.

Given that, I still would not hesitate to recommend it. It's a s easy as using MS Word.

I have just finished 2 sites.

I love my XSP and find it easier to use than WP. The support staff are brilliant. As with all computer activities, do backups regularly. I have my XSP to backup every 7 days simply because 7 days comes around so fast and I need a reminder...it even does that for me too!

Is it worth the money and effort? Within a heartbeat :-)

Paul, what lovely sites you have built. You've convinced me to go back to XSP instead of WP for my next bunch.
XSP is a great program and if one takes the time to read the tutorials or watch the videos there is no limit to the quality of sites that can be created.

      Thanks for sharing yours.

That is encouraging. I've never done it, but was told otherwise by XSP support. Are you sure that there are no problems with editing in another software, because XSP uses its own programs to generate forms, sitemap, etc...
Either you asked the wrong question or someone wasn't well trained. Yes, I'm sure it works - I sold xsp sites sites to a membership for over a year and not all members owned XSitepro. I provided in both the html version and the xsitepro file for each site.

I still use version 1 because it suits my purposes - I can't imagine that option being removed in version 2.

          Kay,

In Version 2 you click on "Tools" then "Export to Frontpage/Dreamweaver..."

          (or any other html editor)

    1. No, I don't believe you can do that. However generating a sitemap in XSP takes about 1 minute.
    2. Yes, you can name the image files whatever you want.
    3. You cannot edit a non-XSP template.
    4. There are plenty of templates available. But a template for me becomes irrelevant, because it is almost just as easy to build a site from scratch as it is to edit a template.
    5. You can create your own site and save it as a template, which is what I did with the sites in my previous post.

XSP also comes with XHeader which has dozens of header templates which can be edited. You can get hundreds more for about $40 (plus or minus). But I discovered how to make my own headers with GIMP or PAINT.net.

    Hope that helps,

    Paul

No - you can "publish locally" to a folder on your computer and that will move the site in html format that can be uploaded via ftp to a host account.

        But I hope you're right.

BTW, I was wrong about loading other html templates. You can do that.

Xsitepro is really working for me. You can do everything manually coding the pages that Xsitepro can do but the best thing is it save time. I just made a website with Xsite pro about 3 weeks back and I have already got 13 sales from 451 unique visitors. But as a matter of fact my wordpress sites rank better than the sites built in any other platform.

@FredJones - XSP is great software designed to quickly and easily create websites, especially niche websites. There are limitations as to what you can do for advanced websites but there are "workarounds" to accomplish most things. The XSP forum is a great help when trying to do advanced stuff.

You can have the .php extension with Wordpress on all of your URLs. You set it up with custom permalinks option.

@Isamarketer - You can export XSP websites to use in other html editor programs. Just go to TOOLS>EXPORT TO DREAMWEAVER/FRONTPAGE. This exports everything you need including your forms, js files, css, etc. You just load it all in whatever html editor you want to use.

Can u make an XSP site into a membership site?

And is it easy to use for a techno newb like me?

It is easy for people with little techno know how.

Also you can protect pages, so you can kind of use it for membership pages, but for that I prefer to use DL Guard.
