Ever Used AMember, WishListMember, or other Membership Site Software?

I plan to start a membership site soon, but I don't have any experience creating one. I want to use "out of the box" membership site software instead of creating my own interface.

1.) What membership site software have you used that you reccomend?

2.) How did you implement the software? Were you able to do it yourself? Or do you recommend outsourcing the work? (I prefer to outsource the work.)

Thanks in advance for your responses.

I recommend Membergate, that's what my partner and I use.

        Thanks for all your responses.

@RonHammernik - I will probably be going with the aMember route since it seems very affordable and there appear to be a lot of people recommending it online.

Have you gone through the Membership Site Owner training personally? It looks interesting. Do you know if it can help guide me step by step through the process of setting up a membership site with aMember? If so I plan to join.

I'm more interested in step-by-step info on getting an membership site that I can easily follow. Not really as interested in how to get members/marketing info at this point.

Also, this is a total newb question, but do you know if aMember is compatible with GoDaddy hosting?

          Yes.

However, I really urge you to take a look at WishList as the combo WordPress and WishList is TOTALLY newbie friendly.

@ Pro Coach. Cool. I'll look into that combo.

Also, has anyone ever heard of Instant Member:

It looks really good, easy to use, and affordable. But don't they all on their sales pages. :/

I've tried quite a few membership programmes. Some were harder than others to install but most took a lot of time to customise ready for use. Instant Member was the quickest and easiest so far. Generally the more powerful and feature rich the software, the more time it takes to set up.

Instant member is a good balance, it comes from Simon Hodgkinson who together with Jeremy Gislason is co-founder of Memberspeed, a very heavy duty package! These two member scripts sit at either end of the spectrum for ease/speed of setup.

The only downside of instant member is that, unlike many others, it is a single domain license - though extra licenses are half price. The single domain restriction also applies to Wishlist member unless you buy the higher priced unlimited version.

Instant member also has a 'content drip' feature which some other packages don't have. This makes ongoing management a bit easier.

I have tried wishlist, (found it does not have nearly as powerful features as they advertise,) sadly, to this point I have not found an intuitive, user friendly wordpress plugin type interface, all of the ones I have tried, require a lot of extra work on the users part.

To me, a script solution would be one that provided, a turn key experience, you install it and then you add your content, but that is not what is on the market right now, every single option requires intensive work by the user, copy pasting, ecommerce, links, copy paste, tokens, PHP, and other issues, that just really make it undesirable,

Personally, and this is just my opinion and so it is totally free,)

A standalone script is far better, than using a wordpress script at least until someone comes up with a product that just works,

To put this thought firmly into the light of day, I have a wordpress membership site, that currently has zero members.

I have a membership script that is standalone and I have 140 members.

Now it is true that I just have not been able to use the wordpress script, (which I paid for,)

The other script, is not perfect either, but it is affordable, and all you have to do is basically upload your content, and your in business.

that is probably why that script has an active membership and the wordpress does not, it is just easier to use and that is what makes sense to me.

Make it so simple that even a cave man can do it,
