Mobile Marketing - Profit Potential or Just Another Rip Off?

Hello Warriors,

I'm here to mine the wisdom of many warriors! I know there's profit to be made with mobile marketing and also great potential to be ripped off. Case in point: today I stumbled across a mobile marketing mlm called izigg. I did a little research and found that the principles in this company have a checkered past so I don't want to go that route.

Further investigation reveals that you can get the same service that this mlm provides but much cheaper. Digging wider, I found a Clickbank product for mobile marketing that is apparently also a rip-off.

Okay, so I know there's money to be made with mobile marketing but I don't want to be ripped off or rip others off. I'm still in the information gathering stage for this and plan to do more research but can anyone suggest a program or product that is good and actually works????

Many thanks in advance,

E

Well it depends on what kind of mobile marketing you are doing. One form of mobile marketing that I know works definitely is search engine local listings like Google Places. When people search for something on their phone most of the time it displays these results. Nationwide however is a little different but you could always just make listings in major cities across the nation.

Mobile banner ads and things along those lines are usually pretty tough to pull off unless you want to experiment.

    Hey E,
I stumbled across izigg as well. I like the concept with regard to having small businesses (restaurants, etc) being able to text message customers who have opted in to receive discounts, etc.
Like you I've done my research and there are some red flags associated with some of the principals. That won't necessarily keep me from using izigg to provide this service to my clients, but I would like to know of other similar services that are available as I am just now looking into this.
Can you tell me the name of the service that you discovered that provides this service?

Just found a reference for a service called Trumpia in another thread.
    Will investigate further...
    Thanks...........

      Hi Joe,

I've come across a couple of different options.

First one is Telefly. They have an affiliate program (free) but I've had problems logging in to their system. They also have a reseller's account which requires an investment. I requested contact from a rep but have yet to hear from anyone!

The other option is to invest in a short code yourself with US Short Codes - your source for Mobile Marketing and then sell keywords to small businesses, which was my thought. (That link is not an affiliate link, btw)

This entails a little bit more of an investment but it could be very lucrative if you have the resources to do all the set up with aggregators and carriers and to sell it to the small business owners.

Still investigating but I have a feeling this market is going to grow and grow big.

      Hi E,

I just focused on MM a few weeks ago because I believe that MM has HUGE potential. I have tested some experts and spent a few bucks. Finally, there is one guy i would highly recommend (see signature) because I like his personality and the way he teaches you. I received a lot of informations and insider tips. This guy also provides a free webpage where you can optimize your squeeze page for mobile phones! I didn't find anything like that in the internet.

Anyway, he demonstrates how to make money with CPA, PPC, Clickbank, building a list, how to support local biz, what you can do with apps etc. on cell phones! Furthermore, he will tell you the top websites where to sign up, where you will find mobile optimized CPA offers etc.

This all sounds very good and he made a lot of money but I think not only because of MM. The big sharks that generate massiv incomes must have more than 4-5 income streams. That's what all IM and MM should keep in mind.

Last word: Knowledge doesn't make you rich - use your knowledge to make profits. =)

      Hope this helped...

      Cheers
      Wizze

Yup, I also think mobile monopoly is a great deal...I bought it the day it released and I can see massive potential. The combination of ads in apps and CPA offers is pretty awesome, if you have the right ad you can definitely make a lot of money or a big list in very short amounts of time. Hope this helps

I used Mobile Monopoly for a while, with no success. I followed everything to the T, but to no avail(I am sure it's me though, everything in the course makes sense and seems like profits can be made), spent plenty on ads, then I abandoned it. I still think MM is a big deal, but just like anything else, you gotta be able to identify your target audience for the product trying to be sold, the saying goes "knowledge is power" no exception in this space.

I spend most my time in organic traffic, SEO.. I think the paid traffic just isn't my best hand.

    Simply put, yes it works!

All the strategies you hear of works. It's whether you work them properly and if that particular opportunity is right for you at that particular time.

I picked up a book recently "Mobile Marketing Handbook" you can find it on Amazon which I believe is a lot more helpful (and cheaper!) than a course put together by a guru. Sorry I haven't clicked on the links suggested. I am tired of paying guru's for courses that don't work.

I do think that the place for making money with mobile marketing right now is with bricks and mortar type businesses who already advertise in other channels. All best practices and mobile marketing experts in the real world say that you need those other marketing channels for it to work properly; i.e. print, radio, tv. You need a place to get your short code in front of people. You could do this with your website but if you're not getting a lot of traffic, it won't work as effectively. Just my opinion.

I'd be interested in hearing what other people who have actual real world experience with mobile marketing would say about that.

It seems different people may have a different concept of what they want to do with this.

I want to get involved (mostly) with SMS messaging for local businesses and I want to hire a team to do marketing. So I have been looking for a source that can not only provide the front end service but also great back end admin and support.

I came across Trumpia, requested info but got no response. I must have typed a bad email because I sent it again and got an immediate response.

I was not impressed with their required investment. In fact, it was kinda scary.

        They wanted:
        • a $599 setup fee
        • $349/mo AND
        • an upfront purchase of $3,250 in text messages (that's 125,000 messages at 2.6 cents per text)
What a con. Why would I prepay for so many messages - other than to just give them $3,250 for their greedy pockets? Just imagine if they were to go out of business with my $3,250. I'm sure many of these companies are hanging by a thread..

If it weren't for the fact that I want to hire people and therefore have the need for serious coordination and back-end admin, I could find many options. Even some free ones like www.dotgo.com. You can do everything free with dotgo but there's no admin panel for users, so it would be cumbersome to use. I followed the instructions & got it setup in minutes, but I see it working only on a small scale.

Hope to hear feedback from others.

SMS marketing is extremely lucrative, but the competition is stiff and the learning curve is steep. Doing a search in google comes up with about 16 million results. So actually, you'll really do much better and make money faster by just helping a business set up an ad marketing campaign, and cut a deal with a professional SMS company instead of doing it all yourself.

ok, im surprise no one mentioned mobile CPA marketing here. Its Huge.
There is a LOT of mobile traffic and its increasing very fast. Mobile advertising is still in its early stages so click rates are still very low. I would highly recommend you look in that direction. Look for Danny Malinder on google

The thing that jumped out at me r.e. Izigg is "MLM."
I would be careful with MLM in any niche let alone mobile marketing. There are few "gurus" available and the ones who hold themselves out to be should be viewed with a jaundiced eye.*
Mobile marketing is not as complex as String Theory but I have a nagging suspicion that those who are making money here are keeping it close to their chest. With that being said I can admit that while I'm not a "guru" I am making money with mobile marketing.
The thing I will share is not new... Test test test.
Every product has a buyer and if you set your ads up correctly you'll find the buyers in due time. Once you find them kill all the other ads and simply run that one ad that produces. Then while you have that ad running move on to the next opportunity.
This is all based on banner and search ads. I prefer to usen that platform as it requires no interaction with "mom and pop" stores. I know there's money to be made in local but I'd rather make it on my own devices rather than waiting on someone to tell me I can go to work.
    Make sense?

There are so many options and ways to tackle Mobile marketing.
You may want to start as an affiliate on the SMS side of the house selling simple text delivery services to small business. Trumpia, Textmarks and BizM3 are reliable and well known services...The bigger picture is to get in the door with simple SMS and then show the client how to integrate Fan Pages with their mobile campaigns.
The CPA and Clickbank route can be a bit trickier and require a bit more/lots of testing. I like Dave Guindon's new course Mobile Success Blueprint...building a list via AdMob is doable, but takes some practice.
Anyhow, there is a ton of free info online - Mobile Commerce Daily, Mobile Marketing Profits, etc etc....search via FB and see what types of services are being offered. Get on a few lists (Kim Dushinski) and see what everybody is doing...This is a market where homework before action is well advised.
      Warm Wishes,

      Wayne Davis

Honestly. MLM and mobile marketing? Huh?

I actually listened to the video describing the comp plan. A confusing mess.

And I nowhere did I see the comp plan in print. Can't imagine signing up with anything or anyone where I can only get a video agreement. Danger !!!

I jumped into the mobile marketing arena with SMS offered to small and medium sized local companies. Our platform allows us to offer trackable mobile coupons, mobile ads, qr codes, and everything is Facebook integrated. We get free incoming texts and only pay 1-1.5 cents for true SMS short code outgoing texts. My business clients love the fact I can show them exactly how much money they made with our SMS marketing. With double digit response rates businesses usually make about 500-1000%+ ROI depending on their offer and how responsive their list is. They love the service and we don't have to hard sell a long term contract, because when they see the results not only do they stay with us they refer other business owners to us. To try the platform free click on my sig below.
