Looking for a decent WP membership software?

I think I've shot my self in the foot with the product I bought so I'm looking afield as backup in case it goes completely south. Can anyone reccommend a membership software thats designed to go with wordpress and is self explanetary to use? My site is to provide paid access to information, its not a product selling site.

Features I know I want are;
-the ability to secure a few pages so that only members see them.
-automatic transfer of names to an autoresponder.
-the ability to make groups of members.
-the ability to accept various payment methods, not just paypal.
-that it stores lists of the members.
-it should be free or cheap or really good so long as its easy to use.
-I'm sure there's a few others.

Any help much appreciated, help is needed.

You want a WordPress Site with the S2Member Plugin.

Add BuddyPress and give members a social network/forum to discuss your niche and network with one another.

    I love them.

I have BuddyPress on all my WordPress sites hosted with GoDaddy. I also whole-heartedly recommend them. However they have one bug - you can't add attachments to the forum posts. I was searching for a WordPress plugin for adding attachments but could find one. This of course is a big flaw.

Good. I hate attachments to forum posts. Put it on your own damn server and post a link like a normal person.

I've never heard a good reason for that. There are many better hosts, but as far as I can tell, GoDaddy doesn't suck.

True, but it's sort of like going offroad in a '62 Chevy lowrider. It might get you to where you want to go, but doing it in a Hummer will be much more satisfactory and is less likely to leave you stranded.

I am in the market for software for membership sites myself. I am looking for a drip feed program that will allow me to load up the content and it gets dripped out over time.

I don't want the customers paying for a month and being able to download everything then take off.

Any ideas on this one greatly appreciated.

I haven't tried it myself, but have heard good things about aMember Pro.

I don't have any in-depth knowledge, but now that I've mentioned it, think I'll take a closer look.

Being able to drip feed is a faily commonly found attribute on member programs I've looked at. So far a word press membership that looks ok is 'memberwing'. It can be free for up to 10 people, which lets you test drive it for a while, and then you can pay for various extras, but so far the explanations and use have been good.

I'll send am IM as well.

                It's like fail?

What we're looking for is autoresponder-style "followup" drip feed, where each member has access to an amount of content based on how long they've been a member.

MemberWing X looks amazing, but my big issue is that I need some kind of followup drip feed integrated with my site, and they all seem to have dependencies. I have yet to find a good combination of a drip-feed plugin and a membership plugin that both do what I need.

WPDrip is currently tightly integrated with Wishlist Member

                  and

                  works exactly like an autoresponder.

You just space out the posts (same as you would with an autoresponder) and the system takes care of the rest.

Michelle MacPhearson launched a membership site a while back that did a drip-feed type of thing. It was a training program with a monthly-membership fee, but when you joined you only got x-amount of content per week. Every week a new link would show up on your dashboard. I know that doesn't help much but maybe you could look her up.

Go with WishList members if thats not the one you already bought and disapointed with. Its dead cheap though - a single license will set you back $97 but its money well spent in my opinion.

It doesnt automatically link into your autoresponder but there is another plugin that can be used in conjunction to automate that process.

Want dead cheap but does the job pretty good? and with an addon (also dead cheap) the ability to add members to your list? Then follow the second link in my sig

Hi, don't mean to take the thread, in a different direction, but I am pretty impressed in reading about WP Sales Automator, particularly the file protection - aside from hosting and who's in control, is it fair to say this fulfills the same function as an ejunkie or a dl guard?

You can use Traindom for this: Start Your Information Marketing Business in Minutes - Traindom No technical hassles like with aMember, private video upload & streaming, drip content etc.

It's not a WP plugin, but you can easily integrate the two.

If your looking for a blogging platform and a membership platform combined together you might want to consider a solution that has both disigned directly into the framework so that you do not have to install any plugins or third party apps to get the function you desire. There are at least two solutions on the market that can do this and have nothing at all to do with wordpress.

I have used and enjoy service offered by extrememember.com. Shane Goldberg (owner) is around on the Warrior Forum I think. The site is built on WordPress and has all of the features you mentioned. I think that they offer a 30 day trial so it's worth investigating. Fantastic support, too.

Not that I'd know much about memberships, but...

I have used Wishlist and it does have some shortcomings such as no built in affiliate management...

BUT, I am now a big fan of DAP (see above post).

Ravi has done a great job with this. Definitely worth the extra bucks.

For what it's worth, I also started with a lower priced script for obvious reasons. But before you st up your site, make sure that you begin with the end in mind. In other words, make sure your script will still be able to deliver in a few years time as you grow your site, and make changes.

      Cheers,

Make sure to compare apples with apples.

There are 2 aspects of DAP that enticed me over Wishlist:

      Built in affiliate manager

Ability to give coupons / special offers. With WL I have to set up a duplicate sales page and payment buttons etc.

      Just my 20c worth.

Ok.. this is my past experiences.

I've use Wishlist but the problem with WLM is it has a lot of bugs for latest 2.4 version.

I've also used Magic Members but.. well it's not functioning propeerly if your are using subdomain as your membership sites. Maybe it's solved right now.

So in order to drip my post, I've use Memberwing Gradual Plugin which performed great with WLM and then I've used wpDrip.

However, the fact is that, both plugin only drip based on the members registered as user within your wordpress. So whenever your member pause his membership for 3 months example (like going holiday etc), the when he recontinue his membership, wallaaaa... all of the previous 3 months will be accessed by them.

So, my suggestion and recommendation is, using DAP which will drip your post based on the date the members registered in any of your membership level. Then whenever he pause his subscription, and comes back after 3 months or even after 100 months, he will be allowed only to acces begin at the time he pause his membership... This is a perfect example of drip features or may I quote whta Ravi says, content responder.

            Regards,

            WSOHero

            Cindy,

If "coupon codes" is the one feature you wish to see in DAP, then we've got great news for you: We just completed development of coupon codes. It's coming in v4.0, which should be out end of Nov or 1st week of Dec.

That release will also have the ability to setup a "Multi-Tier" Affiliate Program - basically "Unlimited" affiliate tiers. You could practically use it for selling a MLM/Network marketed product or service :-). Development of this too has been completed and is currently being tested.

            Cheers!

Just for whats its worth I ended up at WishList and am loving it. Highly proffessional presentation, lots of explanations, pdf and video, for almost every task required, it works with WP and looks just like the WP maker made WishList too.Awesome.

The other programs I tried had many happy users, so its not fair for me to bag on them. Its worthwhile pointing out that there are several types of membership software for different uses, they are not all the same, so ask around before buying.
I'm happy to discuss the ones I did try if anyone wants to PM me.

As usual, a huge thank you to my fellow Warrior members for all the help, not to mention patience, lol.
