Youtube Marketing Course

Could anyone here recommend a good youtube marketing course? I've been working with youtube for a while now, but it seems that I have hit a wall. I've been trying to drive views to my videos for quite a while now, but I have yet to get passed the 300 views mark for any of my videos.

Recently, I stumbled across a course called the "Youtube Secret Weapon", which seemed to teach everything I want to know. The problem is I cannot afford the price (poor college kid).

My goals are to get my videos more views, gain more subscribers, and get some of the future videos featured. I'm really not trying to sell anything just yet. At this point, I just want to establish my youtube presence.

Here is what I've done so far:

- I used photoshop to create a more interesting background for my channel page.

- In every video, I've included an intro with a logo and background music. I did this in order to catch viewers attention.

- I began doing keyword research for my videos and adding targeted keywords to my tags. Basically, I add use googles keyword tool to find keywords; then I add them to the tags for each specific video.

- I also add the keywords to the descriptions of the videos.

- I began submitting the videos to pinging sites. I experienced a small boost in views from this, but generally it stops after the 100th view.

Any tips or course suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you all for your time,
Martial Marketer

Have you become part of the YouTube community...leaving comments, liking people's videos, leaving video responses to other people videos in your niche, etc...

Now I don't know your niche...but say it is martial arts (saw your ID has martial in it so I'll use it as an example)....I would be leaving relevant comments/video replies on every popular martial arts video on YouTube plus leave comments and "likes" on every new martial arts video that is uploaded...also subscribe and friend any and all martial arts related YouTube channels.

By becoming part of the YouTube (and in the example) martial arts community, you'll only increase the awareness of your videos, thus increasing views.

Second, where does your target market hang out besides YouTube...Facebook, Twitter, a forum, etc...find a few spots and become part of the community there as well...

Are you familar with Gary Vaynerchuk? If not, please do yourself a favor and do so (btw, don't buy his book) but the dude has build a huge presence and thus a huge business now because he became a part of his target market by becoming part of the community.

Thanks for the advice Mikemac1. The only thing I have really been doing is friending users and liking videos. My strategy with the friend requests has been pretty simple. I find a popular channel in my niche and start friend requesting it's subscribers.

I'll start becoming more active in the commenting and video responses department ASAP. I will also look up Gary Vaynerchuk.

Sean Donahoe's Video Assassin is respectable enough.

The easy (and sometimes fun) part is to create the video. That is unfortunately only 20% of video marketing success.

The most boring and hard part is to promote your damn videos. I suggest heavy-duty press release marketing. Daniel Tan's cheapo press release wso is also decent.

I'm surprised that no video has gone above 300 but then, how long have they been up? If they've been up for months then maybe Youtube has limited your views or something if the traffic did not appear to be "normal".

YT takes time to deliver views. Typically it takes between 2 and 4 months for the momentum to build. The first couple of weeks may see a meagre 20 videos or so in total but this should build and level out at a much higher rate such as 50 per day or even much higher.

Here I am talking about keyword optimised videos where each video has the keyword in the title, the description and as a tag and with no promotion. So 50 per day is a conservative estimate based on SEO alone and you can obviously do more thanks to your branding and other tactics (personally I don't use any tactics, I prefer to spend time making more videos!).

I recently wrote a 1,800 word post on my Youtube success to my newsletter readers. I don't share it publically but if you or anyone else wants it then send me a PM.
Chris thank you for your reply. I tried to send a PM to you yesterday, but, because of my post count, I was unable to. Is it possible for you to PM the article you wrote to me?

But for the benefit of others, maybe you can share more info about your videos? How old are they?
Well my videos range from 5 months to a week in age, and they are in a specific niche, that I am very familiar with. Each one, excluding the newest additions, averages between 50 and 300 views.

My main goal for the youtube channel is to make it popular within the niche I'm in. Basically, I want the channel to become something that the many people interested in my niche will want to subscribe to, so I've been concentrating on gaining subscribers and video views.

As far as affiliate commissions go, I really wasn't trying to monetize the videos; I'm really just trying to market the channel right now. The many suggestions here have inspired me to try video monetization, but on a different channel and niche.

Thank you very much for the article, Chris! I'm reading it right now!

Check your Youtube Insight stats page for each video to see your daily views.

There's a possibility you may have more than 300 views.

I've had videos of my own that supposedly stopped getting views at 302, but
when I looked at my insight, I was way over the 300 mark.

I've seen this happen to other people as well.

@martialmarketer - What is your goal on YouTube? I do YouTube a bit different than anyone else does.

I target Google search on YouTube thru SEO for YouTube and the YouTube algo is completely different than a Google Search algo.

Rankings are determined by full views of the video, how many comments you get and how many thumbs ups / likes you get. These three factors have more to do with your rankings in search than anything else. There are 8 other social indicators of quality too.

I coined the phrase "Google social algorithm" on a webinar I did for Howie Schwartz and YouTube uses a very social algo. Think of it like this; If you rent a movie and fall asleep during the movie, that's not a good indicator of quality.

So if someone views your video and then bounces half way thru it, it's about the same thing as falling asleep during a movie, it shows Google that you are not real interested.

Now, to get big time views of a video we target Google search, have you ever noticed that YouTube videos rank at #4 in Google searches? Well there is a way to get your video to rank there and we have been testing and tweaking this process for two years now.

And yes, I do market a YouTube product that is all about getting ranked highly in Google search.

In fact, one of my coaching members used my tactics to get over 50,000 views is less than 8 months.

    Google Social Networking

Check out the videos on how this has worked out for just one of my members....

Got any questions? Feel free to post them here, I will be glad to help you.

Also what was said above is very true, YouTube is a social site, to get comments you have to post comments. If you do not learn how to leverage your following and get them to comment on YouTube videos you will never make it.

    Chris,

Thank you for providing that page. It was very informative!

My main goal with youtube is basically just to get more views, subscribers, and channel exposure. As I said before, I'm not to interested in selling anything to my audience at this point in time. I want my channel to be a go to resource for people searching for information in my niche. Eventually I want to get youtube partnership, but that's more of a long term goal at this point.

@martialmarketer - The key to YouTube is to target Google search, because YouTube videos if they rank, rank at number 4. So the key is to target really high traffic terms.

If you guys take a look at what I offer, don't buy anything there, on the 1st of December, I am going to offer access to my mastermind group. Details to follow soon, but this is a chance to learn how social media is really done right....
